Disagree here. That's one of the greatest chants of all time and fits nicely into almost any situation.
What is the origin of the "I Believe" chant? The first time I ever seen/heard it was in a clip at a Utah State basketball game about 4-5 years ago. edit: guess it was started by the cadets at the Naval Academy http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebask...91/coolest-chant-in-the-country-began-at-navy
It actually is, but it's also mostly a way to celebrate our first american player. His season has been quite solid, he scored some important goals and I can't wait to see him back next year. Just hope he doesn't come back too tired from the World Cup.
Ale is gaining interest from several Ligue 1 sides but Nantes want him to sign a contract extension EliteFC @UVEliteFC 6m American Exports: Nantes look to secure USMNT's Alejandro Bedoya amid growing interest from rivals http://ift.tt/1qoB0hP
Bedoya apparently made L'Equipe's worst eleven for Ligue 1. La pire équipe de la saison en Ligue 1 pic.twitter.com/grdkCywLo6— L'ÉQUIPE (@lequipe) May 19, 2014 I can see the French press/public not being impressed if they thought of Bedoya as a winger, as the worst 11 formation has him. Bedoya doesn't have the one-on-one ability that I think a lot of people expect from a winger. Or it's possible that L'equipe just does a poor job of evaluation in general.
I'd go for the latter. By most estimates, he's done a good job for the club. He started a bunch of games and scored a good assortment of goals and the club wasn't relegated. Success.
WhoScored had Bedoya at a reasonable, but not exciting 6.68. They had Cvitanich at 6.26. In a different (better) league, Michael Bradley was rated at 6.5 with Roma, albeit in limited appearances. L'Equipe ratings are subjective, I believe, not based on any statistics.
I don't think you are looking at Bedoya like they do, they see hims as a ACM not necessarily a winger.
Yeah I remember BeIn ran on article with his HC I think near Winter Break and he gave tons of praise to Bedoya. Add in the fact that other Ligue 1 clubs could be looking at him and he helped Nantes finish mid-table...I'd say solid season. A scout from a Ligue 1 side had some nice things to say too last week: http://americansoccernow.com/articles/european-scouts-evaluate-the-u-s-world-cup-squad
but still why would they even list him? He didn't flop by any measure. 5 goals, 1 assist in 31 matches. He was Nantes' 2nd top scorer. He didn't cost the club much. In fact cost under a million euros.
Ahhhh the irony. Cvitanich left Boca to play in Europe again when he was refinding his form that he once had when he tore things up for Banfield. Now he's just 'average' in France. Love it.
Bedoya did a fine season, L'Equipe has just no clue, I sometime wonder if they're eve watching the games... For him to be in this "worst team" make just no sense... I've followed Bedoya all season and for a new player in a foreign country, he did a good job, playing mostly as a ACM. To have a more accurate vision, you would have to ask local journalists that are actually following the FC Nantes, and not only when they're playing the PSG. Can't wait to see him in the World Cup. I also hope the Yankees can make a surprise in this tournament. Not gonna be easy though with Portugal, Ghana and Germany in their group.
Clearly this. From my own observations, to the views of the Nantes supporters I've seen here and elsewhere, the general sentiment was that Ale was slightly above average for a team and a squad that was average within Ligue 1. In no way does a slightly above average player on an average team correlate to worst XI in Ligue 1. It's absolutely laughable. I will never take L'equipe's so called punditry seriously as a result.
Doesn't Nantes have a transfer ban? If so, I can't imagine they would want to let any of their starters go, since it would be impossible to replace them. That's 189th out of 283 ranked players. Not worst 11 worthy, but yeah...not exciting.
Not that impossible. We do have a lot of players in our youth system, and some of the most promising are playing the same position that Bedoya. Also, Nantes in the same "affairs" have been fined a lot of money (around 5 millions I think), so we will need money. But I think they'll try to keep him either way. We have more valuable assets to sell if needed, he's been convincing on the field (especially at the end of the season) and more importantly he seems to have a very good mentality. He works for the team at a high rate, he's committed. I hope he get extended after the world cup.
I still can't believe they brought Bedoya over a guy like Donovan. Bedoya is an average player and will do nothing in the world cup. Shea would have been a better pick, at least he can make something happen in the final third.

Pardon me. I thought the world cup would have something to do with his future club career. Anyway, carry on.
