The 5-0 Mother's day massacre, as another poster so eloquently put it, is a in the books. Time to move on to the next game. Philly has been a disappointment this year. They looked to have made a few good moves during the off season but has yet to put it together. They will be without Maurice Edu who will be with the Nats. This should be a game the Revs win convincingly however the Revs have a history of losing games they are suppose to win. Revs coming off a huge emotional win go on the road to play a team that has won only once all year and will be missing arguably their best player and they are 0-3 with 0 goals scored in their last 3 games at PPL park. Revs are winners of 3 in a row, Philly have lost 3 in a row. I see the same lineup against Philly as last game with one possible change, Rowe for Diago. One good thing is that Jack McInerney is no longer playing for them so he can't hurt us
Another signpost match: now that we've exceeded expectations for a few weeks, can we buckle down and take care of business with the teams that are struggling? Last season we had disappointing games with both DC and TFC, and I'd like to see that change.
changing that right there would be a sign of good coaching and a young team that has matured. lets hope both come through this weekend
Well, we've moved into a bit of a cyclical anti-probability dimension for this game - if it's a trap game, then the Revs should lose it, but it seems the Revs win the games that they're not supposed to, so therefore they should win it, but if they really should win it, then they'll lose, but if that's the case ... So, a 0-0 draw then?
It'd be pathetic from the players and the coaching staff if they went into this game that way. They already lost at Philly this year.
Also, Philly have been in free-fall lately and are much worse than they were when we last played them. And the Revs are a lot better, so no excuses for putting a good thumping on Filthy-delphia! I'm getting thirsty, where is that pitcher of Kool-Aid?
MLS' schedule makes little sense. We've already played Houston home and away before we had even played 75% or the teams at all. It would be nice to have a reasonably approximate round-robin, where we would play at least most of the teams once before playing someone twice, and the home/away fixture imbalance would never swing more than 2 games in either direction, but really, there are much bigger fish to fry than that.
Philly have to travel to KC on Wednesday so we will again be playing a team on short rest. Sounds like the kind of opportunity that we shouldn't waste. Bank the points, tip the schedule maker, and move on to next week. [if only it were that simple]
This (staying focused) is part of the learning process for the kids. They really seem to be "enjoying their football" lately, so it shouldn't be too tough to get them excited to play. What I'm dreading is a frustrated team like Philly deciding that the way to slow the Revs down is to hack them. I'm particularly concerned about Mullins, although to be fair, I don't think of Berry or Okugo as being particularly vicious players.
That's a very cogent point and I wouldn't put it past Philly to tackle late and injure someone, although they're no SKC or Houston in that regard. Have to keep Dorman and Nguyen healthy to sustain this run. I was impressed with Bunbury on the wing, really hope Heaps will keep him there to combine well with Diego and the others. Would love to see a thumping but will be satisfied with a solid 2-0 victory and a strong road game where the revs are able to absorb pressure and hit them on the counter. Would like to see our CBs not give away so many free headers like they did last week, although Philly has had a hard time finishing (we don't want to be their catalyst).
Philly is a team that we should try to dominate via possession. We should really try to push them into their third and create slashing runs vs. out-running them. This team has the skills to do it. The Revs need to get comfortable being the dominate team to start hauling in hardware.
Hopefully Goncalves will be able to go this game (although I'm not expecting it). I don't expect the current backline to be able to duplicate their performance every week, and it would stink if they come back to Earth against Philly.
Also, Corben Bone picked up a red last night in their win against SKC, so he'll also be out for Philly ...
Or, maybe Barnes and AJ have locked down the starting roll for awhile, with Tierney holding down the fort until Alston mends. Suddenly, Darrius is playing like I've never seen! I still wonder where JG's head is at.

I agree that you have to take these statistics - to a point - with a grain of salt. It doesn't mean that they were slapped together. This kind of messiness, if anything, means that the stats were put together honestly, without trying to smooth over the kind of glitch that Achowat points out.
