I hate to say it, but I'd rather have Harris.

If Chavez was a bad locker room guy, then I'd rather have neither.

Sturgis must be über shit. Burch, Buddle, Mwanga, LaBrocca, Sanchez, Piermayr: Lots of teams lately, you're on notice.

Hmmm, I didn't read into anything that seemed like a bad locker room presence. Just a guy asking for a trade because he knew he would hardly, if ever see the field. I believe Pablo had mentioned in a past interview that he planned on doing something that most coaches he has had in the past never did. Which was basically, talk to each player individually all the way down to the reserves and let them know where they stand, etc, etc. Maybe way back when he told Chavez that he would be hard pressed to get any time because tactically he didn't see the need for wingers.
He does sound like a dumb ass though when he mentions Chivas's reputation lol.

I was going to make a similar post but what gave me pause was Pablo saying the 'situation had many layers' but wouldn't elaborate, I imagine if it was 100% positive there's no reason not to share with the class.

This quote is what got me on the negative track:

"I wanted to join a team where I was valued and I was respected and where I could work and where I could fight for a spot within the starting lineup"

The valued and respected part is what gives me pause....

These guys are role players. Role players change teams a lot.

Sanchez had your typical "moving up" and then "moving down" career as he got older. His moves coincided with his growth as a player with a peak move to Shalke. MLS is the bottom of his career :)

Piermayer is still finding his league/level.

Chavez has been IN MLS FOR SIX YEARS and switching teams. 4 teams in 6 years at the same level is not because of his talent.

Yeah me too but wondered if something was lost in translation. Oh well, Chavez we hardly knew yee. Now its time to get on the losing end of the stick where you belong.

And no, Chavez is not in MLS to be a role player.

Is this more secret backroom knowledge?

He doesn't seem to me to be that clear cut good as a player that he wouldn't move around a lot.

Lol and I took that quote in a completely different manner in that Pablo or other coaching staff made him feel that way. Sounds to me like somebody told him he wasn't going to get much PT here which would make one feel disrespected and figure that no matter how much they fought or did well in practice they would still be overlooked.

Just sounds a little bit high maintenance to me, not a locker room cancer. I would think there is a latin translation aspect also affecting the way this is coming across making this sound worse than it is from my experience.

I was glad we got him in offseason and happy we could move him to place he will get more time and our roster gets younger and cheaper at same time.

I wonder if the Rapids are clearing space for the rumored Beasley stampede that is likely to show up after the WC....

Not saying its a good move on his part but might explain his change from last year to this year.

There is no doubt in my mind that any team with less than 3 DPs already would take Torres in a Heartbeat. Those 8 games last year showed his great technical ability.

As was already said, Wynne is here for rest of season and than becomes expansion fodder.

This is interesting in there. By the way who remembers the former Rapid who ran Traffic during Boss's travels?

“I lived with and played alongside Chris Klute for three years, when we were at the U17 camp in Bradenton, Florida,” he added. “And I’m used to playing with Dillon Powers, as we were teammates with the youth national team, and went to the U20 World Cup together.”

Rush and Real are the big two because they, along with the Rapids, are part of USSDA. Storm is the next biggest club after those two.

Our opening game draw with NYRB is looking less and less impressive with every passing game...

Anyone have guesses as to what the Rapids financials look like (or will look like in the future). Here are my guesses.

    Revenues
    - MLS TV deal. I'm guessing each team sees about $3M per year. Maybe less.
    - Altitude TV deal - does anyone have a guess at this? Is it less than a million per year?
    - Sponsor revenue. This is probably up to $3M per year
    - Attendance revenue. Average of 12K attendance times a total guess of $35 average ticket. Times 17 home dates is about $7.1M
    - Merchandise ~ I'm guessing this is less than a million a year

I'd guess a rough stab at revenues will be about $14/15 Million a year.

    Expenses
    - Player salaries ~ $3.4 Million
    - Player transfer fees ~ $.8 Mill???
    - Other staff FO, trainers, groundskeepers, etc. ~ $2.5 Million (total guess)
-DSGP (Maintenance, Mortgage payment, etc) ~$8 Million?? $10 Million??

I'd guess expenses are in the $15M/year range with the existing salary cap. With the newly announced revenue streams, my guess is that at best the Rapids are breaking even. Does anyone with higher financial acumen want to take a stab at any of this stuff?
If they increase the salary cap, the Rapids better be able to get closer to the 17K attendance mark. Otherwise I don't see where the additional revenue comes from to offset the increased expense.

That per ticket average seems very high. Back when they emailed out the season ticket holder list, I calculated the average...and of course I forget what that was. $21 I think but maybe it was more like $25.

KSE business wise designs it so on paper Rapids lose money. KSE doesn't pay mortgage for DSG/ they stuck that on Commerce City.
