Good for Chavez he will get plenty of PT at Chivas maybe even link up with Rivero a bit. I noticed Rivero got into the 2nd half of Chivas's last game. Sunday will be interesting.
i dont have any inside info on this yet... but he's making way too much money to sit on the bench and IMHO he's a lousy defender. He's fast but lousy...
I really like this pick up. Boss had a ton of potential as a youth player before his involvement with Traffic seemed to stunt his progression. I refuse to believe he's just up and lost his ability to be a good CB and would like to see the Rapids make the effort to groom him for the future. His cap number is pretty small (~$50k) so there isn't a whole lot of downside to bringing him along slowly with an eye to the future.
-Interesting...................... Gale looks the part and has tremendous upside. The tools are there but for whatever reason he hasn't put it all together. Is it between the ears; is the system(s) in which he's played; or is he simply a child prodigy that dominated the youth ranks internationally but can't translate it to the adult game??? These are the questions. The answer remains to be seen. He's only 22 so one would hope that he can progress instead of regress. I've always wondered had he actually signed with MLS -- initially -- would he have panned out sooner. He was burned pretty badly by Traffic Sports who essentially "owned" him as a third party. Look up the story behind Traffic sports. It will leave a bad taste in your mouth. Corrupt SOB's! Nonetheless, given Gale's age I can't write him off. I hope CO is the place where he finally comes to life. Now what this means to the roster as a whole..............I can see the writing on the wall........ Marvell's days are numbered. Something is bound to go down. If he's dealt please, please, please bring in a striker or a playmaker.
I think the trade is due to the Rapids' philosophy of minimizing international duty. (Hi Bruce!) Chavez made the Honduran squad so he had to go. Note: I am kidding.
Or... Chris Bianchi @Rapids_News ·29 mins Was clear that Mastroeni and Chavez weren't seeing eye to eye. #Rapids96 gain young defender, dump salary, international spot. Makes sense See Mwanga, we recently have excelled at trading for overly "hyped" young guys who never play for us. Edit: my buddy says I should add Buddle to above
I was just about to say, Pablo was just quoted saying "ask him" about why he wasn't getting playing time. I guess he had to go. So Harris for Agbossoumonde now... its seems like we traded up and traded down... I'll hold my full judgement until the international slot is spent.
Well, that is not good for Torres who Pablo was quoted as saying it to first before repeating it for Chavez.
I can't see JK bringing in anyone who didn't play in qualifying, except for Julian Green. I suspect Chavez asked for playing time before the WC, and since they were able to acquire a centerback, that now makes it attractive to move Wynne. For a forward or #10, hopefully.
But he's terrible and expensive... How cant they swing that? (There's an honest question behind the sarcasm).
Yeah, also not good, that during the match Cello said something to the effect of "These games are a good chance for the Rapids to evaluate if Torres is the direction they want to go in..." far be it from be to read too deeply into what Cello says, (especially when I'm only paraphrasing him, we could get into a round of telephone here) but it eluded to him knowing more, and there being fire in the smoke we see.
Boss had every chance to lock 3rd CB spot for TFC this season but didn't. From what I saw of him last season, he wasn't terrible, but didn't stand out either. At cheap salary, he's depth and I don't see much negative for Rapids who also made lots of cap room shedding Chavez. Maybe Boss just needs a change of scenery, but if a pretty good CB like Nelsen doesn't think Boss isn't worth keeping around, what does that say? (and TFC would rather have a striker who can't score in Luke Moore)
I realize you are paraphrasing, but, I feel like I have heard this before either on broadcasts or in articles. I think these types of statements are BS because for me Torres has hardly had the chance to play with our best midfield and or attacking group. I don't know if it's reality or not because I haven't looked through all of the lineups he has played in, but, even from last year he has (to me) hardly had much time on the field with our best player Sanchez.
He was fantastic last summer and fall, but I'm getting the feeling that Graham Zusi killed his motivation. He just hasn't looked like the same player this spring. If Panama were going to the World Cup, I bet we would be seeing a much different Torres this spring. It's all Graham Zusi's fault. Stupid Zusi.
Or the coach who actively recruited him is gone, notice that basically all the players from south of The US are gone as well. Hope Sanchez takes this injury break to teach Torres about professionalism if the above is the case.
Not playing well b/c you want to be with another team in MLS seems like a really bad choice. I find it hard to believe that Torres would hang up the mojo here in CO b/c he would rather be with Pareja. That does his career no good and I'm sure OP would not find him as attractive an acquisition if Torres just kinda parked his bus and did little b/c he was dissatisfied with his club. He isn't an MLS proven star so not performing is the worst thing he could do on all fronts. I think he is having issues finding his form and like us, he's not happy about it. He may do better with another team but his performance here is not for lack of trying, IMO. Well, like @jayd8888 said, a few of us have seen enough of the "Wynne moves on" speculation. It is tempting to point out, however, that moving Chavez and Wynne off the roster frees up about half a million in cap space...
My first thoughts were: Umm, but we needed a forward, I thought...Uh oh, what does this mean for Wynne and O'Neil?...Hmmm, this opens up an international spot and some salary...Umm, so maybe we get the forward we need?...
We already had International slots open so really its about dumping a "unhappy" player and his salary based on the trade articles. I think Wynne is here until the 2- team Expansion draft next year, no way on Jan 1 will he be with Rapids anymore. In regards to Torres his issue could also be all his spanish team buddies no longer around, that was a big change most of us over-looked with the OP offseason fiasco.
