The way they started it looked like it was gonna be one of those nights. Defense looked lost, the ball was on Bolivar's half till about the 20 th min. Second half much better, but still no clear chances. To close the game that shot, unstoppable!
I liked Yeserote, Arce, Flores, Miranda, and Cap De villa. Callejon wasn't on point and Ferreira was all alone for most of the game.
Great result, now we need to seal the deal in La Paz baby!

The best part is how Argentine teams tend to play into the altitude mentality. Lanus will have trouble mentally scoring. Their guys press very hard, and if they try to conserve energy in La Paz we'll eat them alive.

If they press and go head to head wtih us tonight like in Argentina, they'll tire by 60min and we then put in the goals.
Either way, next game is going t obe good.

I hope we can win convincingly though at home. We've had trouble every game minus the win vs. Emelec who were pretty weak.

This Lanus team is probably one if not the strongest of the final 8. We have to play strong for 90mins and can't sleep at the wheel like we did tonight on the first goal.

Matraca Gutierrez really worries me right now. He's our weak spot like on teh NT with our defense. They're going to come through is side every time.

Pretty interesting that bolivar has played better away from home and not so well at home. Lanus plays some good futbol away from home and they go for the win. The final leg should be a hell of a game. Isn't Ferreiras contract and Capdevillas contract up after the next game? They just made some nice cash.

    That gol tho.....

@Bolivianfuego although Guti can be a liability, he brings class and confidence to Bolivar's counters. The way he calmly plays out. Man thats pretty impressive

Thats true. The idea would be to keep them and I think they would be willing to stick around to win this cup as it would be a huge accomplishment for them. Plus the professional relationshio this team has been having gives me hope they want to stick it out.money isnt everything

Yeah. Money isn't everything. But on a job it goes a huge way, and soccer, while a passion for us, its a job for them. Who in here would be willing to give up a significant pay raise on their jobs out of "respect for the professional relationship" or something like that? I imagine few.

I think Claure would be willing to spend some money to keep them around for another half a year, they just need to stay until December, plus we made a couple mils advancing this far..

@dreyx2000 I guess I believe this group of players would like to stay. Im sure they would get a pay raise if needed and a contract. This is all assuming that baisa wants the best for their employees.

I strongly disagree with you fuego.
Gutierrez played a hell of a game last night. Hell the entire backline did. Gutierrez has really been showing why he was playing in Argentina. He was solid on every ball, after the first 15 when we were still getting settled. I see him as strong, sure on every ball and good marking skills. He's defintely starting in the national team for me.

I'll give you his marking, but too many times he turned over the ball because of nervousness when being pressured. He's gotten a LOT better defensively, and def. didn't back down when physically challanged...but he still left a lot to be desired on his distribution out of the back similar to the NT where he has the same issues which lead to turn overs in dangerous positions.

Too many times I'd see him hold on to it too long where it was then obvious who/where he was going to pass it and the argentines were reading his plays ready to intercept the ball.

Also let me add to my last post; Flores was CRUCIAL last night with his ability to earn fouls, break plays with his rough style of play (as an enforcer) and have those bone crunching tackles that closed down dangerous chacnes for Lanus. He did most of the dirty work and distributed so well each time he picked their pockets. As he gets older, I want to convert this guy to a central defender. I am sure he can keep palying into his late 30s.

I didn't like CapDeVilla either. I think he had a bad game. gave up a lot of balls. he tried dribbling from the back and with one touch the ball taken away. The field seemed ginormous yesterday. I think both teams gave up possession quickly. Bolivar in the first half and beginning of second half, and lanus got very impatient in the second part of the second half which gave more possession to Bolivar. That goal came out of nowhere. Not even Nostradamus could've predicted that goal. I like the commentator (which I think they were good this time, and even mentioned how poor was the ref mostly against Bolivia for fouls not called) saying, "what a strike, with a strike that hard here imagine how harder he'll hit it in La Paz"
The player of the match, cant remember him, quite the classy guy. Usually they complain but he was class calling the game the way it was and finally giving credit to Bolivar.

Yea--he was tehir central defender admitting that it was a world class strike to tie it and how much of a beauty it was.

Lanus is def. a classy side who played very organized, and werel ucky to not have more than 1 goal. With that said thoguh, vs our side you can't give us much chances because we're dangerous away from home.

Capdevila did give up some dangerous passes...but he also has that speed to chase and bring down the guy when ever taht happened. I am shocked given his age that he's probably our fastest player. He really shows his 'european' side with how hard, and tight his passsing can be.

The player of the match was their midfielder Somoza, ex boca player who also played in mexico.good player. Well he still couldnt believe the last minute goal.you could tell the lanus mids were clearly arguing after and during the game.

    Referee was just $#*t

Clearly was in favor of the home team, Almost looked like capdevila or yecerotte were going to get sent off.

What is up with the heavy criticisms of Bolivar's style of play. Looking at it objectively, Bolivar plays a very defensive style with 2 wings.but it is with the offensive wings that we play the ball from the back along side our holding mids who have great control and passing of the ball.. Para que digan que parqiamos el autobos no lo veo. Critics(and media) of Bolivar are either very resentful for various reasons, because the opponents are economically greater or because they dont understand that to play this style it takes courage and sacrifice from the players, physically and mentally. Mourinho cant get his ultra defensive chelsea squad to play like this cause he doesnt have the influence psychologically that azkargorta has. I do understand that the game is different in Europe but take into account that mourinho could probably get any player he asks for. Whats good about changing strategies or tactics in-game if it cant prevent you from losing a game? The idea is "not about winning, its about not losing" Most of these cats havent seen how soccer used to be played.with guts and brains, collective play and individualism when its needed. sad shame for commentators from mexico, brasil, and argentina tend to downplay our style. Their lying to themselves and lying to their audience.I say that we should just remind them that theyre just resentful that a group from Bolivia is not losing and it has nothing to do with their analysis. I think its awesome there are supporters from other countries as well.
So my question is (to anyone),being objective, what do you think of Bolivar's style.

The lanus game was a great example of how Bolivar has no problem touching the ball and keeping the ball away from their opponent. Couple long balls here and there but mostly just countering with a good sense of control

Where is this coming from? LInks?

We play a classic counter attacking style with quick transition through the wings.

it's not actually about what is being said, its about how its being said and in the tone it's being said.the little nuances that most don't catch...I understand that media should be a bit partial .That's why its refreshing to see a team like this shut up mouths.

for example. When Leon tied in La Paz, their media started speaking about how we play like a "ratonero" and how our fields all over Bolivia are shit. Their coach called us limited (that could be valid) and said something along the lines that victory in mexico would be easy. It was not until that that team could not beat us in 4 tries that he finally had something good to say instead of downplaying the team.
In Brasil, The same thing was spoken about the style of play. Flamengo has a better attack then their defense, on paper for them , Bolivar was not going to do much.
Then came Lanus, which is not over yet, and their media was actually very confident that they were going to score 3 as if not watching what Bolivar has done in this tournament.

The thing is even the first match vs Emelec, you could see the quality that Bolivar have but that have been overlooked and downplayed.it's fine when the casual fan does this but when media does this. it leaves a sour taste.
Instead of these experts to analyze teams objectively, they have bigger bias than expected, that's all.

Nacional(P) , Atl Nacional, Lanus are the teams that have most impressed me and its not surprise theyre still in it. I also thought Leon has a strong attack.
