I think it's a double standard in society being reflected in which stories the media chooses to report. A 14 year-old boy "getting lucky" which his 25 year-old teacher will generate plenty of hits and the only blowback is a lot of smirking "I would have hit that too!" commentary. A 14 year old girl doesn't "get lucky" with a 25 year-old male teacher. That's not going to get the same sort of titillation, so therefore doesn't get reported.
Possibly, but we've had a couple recent cases here in my county of male teachers being arrested/charged with molesting female students. Not surprisingly, the national media picked up neither story.
I bet if they were permitted to identify the [female] victims with pictures they would have carried the stories.
That's one of those statements where "cynicism" and "truth" are neck and neck for much of the race, but then "truth" pulls away on the back stretch and comes out, rather handily, the winner.

Unless I missed something in the article, it wasn't teacher/student sex. It was sex on the job, not really newsworthy.
Well, you're correct. It was student's parent, cop, cook, teacher, librarian, etc and principal sex. But it seemed like the right thread for it.
The whole story could have made up the "plot" of one of Cinimax's x-rated-lite movies but it is hardly newsworthy.

Hey, my alma mater is getting in on the action! A part-time junior varsity softball coach at a high school in Temple City was arrested for allegedly having sex with one of the girls he coached I might have mentioned it in this thread before, but two incidents happened while I was at this high school 25ish years ago, one with a girl and male PE teacher (she was expelled, he was fired), one with a boy and female teacher (caught doing it in the classroom, no less). Neither made the news to my knowledge.
