You're right, but only inasmuch as a ref handing out a card. The disciplinary committee does not (should not) abide by the same premise.

If say...CJ Brown is standing nose to nose with say...Carlos Ruiz and CJ takes a swing at Ruiz. Whether or not he lands it, it will get him a red, that's the worst that can happen to him on the field. But the disciplary committee is going to see that there was intent to land it and suspend him for a number of games and fine him big. Albright meant to injure Leitch with the tackle, and should be punished irregardless of the result.

meh. i guess you can't really fine the players 4 digits if they're only making meager wages anyway. but yeah, 250 does seem like a really small sum, especially considering lalas got twice that much for CRITICIZING an official. wtf, damn mls tyrants, infringing on my freedom of speech  lol

I don't know the rules that pertain to this situation, but does albright receive pay for the games that he is suspended from? If the fine is a straight up 250 that is low, but if it's 250 plus two weeks salary I accept it.

I actually care less about the fine than the suspension. I thought he'd get at least a 3 gamer. He was looking for blood.

Yeah, when I originally read the ESPN article I thought that it said 2 games on top of the mandatory 1 game suspension. But, I was unfortunately wrong. I actually like Albright, but that foul deserved a 3 game suspension.

He's been suspended for two games. If MLS can't suspend anybody for longer for a foul like this is a disgrace. He was looking for blood that day and the ref should have realized it sooner. and this is a player in the national pool. i'd like to see him play like that in central america. the nats would be down a man for almost the whole game.

Thanks for the link. Without that, I'd have missed that he was suspended. Wonder why MLS didn't blazen his picture on their website with a big, bold headline for his suspension. Guess they only reserve that type of "special treatment" for special players.

[Please, Galaxy fans, that's a dig at MLS - not at Albright. No neg reps, please.]

And props to Lexi - keeping it in the family. :) [Again, a joke. I KNOW you have to have respect for the refs, blah, blah, blah.]
