It may turn out to be the most costliest of all those given the opponents should Sunderland not win today.... that was a relegation 6-pointer right there..... with that said, it may turn out to be moot at the end as I think Sunderland will win today and get out of relegation trouble at the cost of Norwich, Fulham, and Cardiff... but with the way this season, and especially this relegation battle has been going - you never, never know....
Oh, is that so? Got any statistical evidence to prove it? Ya know, kinda like the numbers repeatedly posted in this thread that demonstrates precisely the opposite of your claim...
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whooooooa. Hold up a tick there, buddy. Are we all sitting here actually reading you toss in an off-hand partial justification for the sub-par Cheech season as being the inarguable fact that Man United as a team behind him have been playing well below their capabilities? And you say this can effect how well he fares playing up top? Blathering lunacy, close this thread for discussion. And so we can rest easy, please have a trusted family member accompany you to get your head checked immediately.
I love Jozy to death. He is and will always be one of my favorite players. And I hate Mexico more than anyone you know. But... Chicharito is a better striker than him. -------- It's 4am and I can't sleep. Alarm is set for 6:30. Looks like I might be pulling an all-nighter for a Sunderland match. Hi, my name is Rob and I have a problem...
If Altidore was able to play a role like Chicharito, I think he would have a lot of success. It also helps Chicharito that he has played for a club that has historically been one of the best in the world. Playing as the lone CF with Sunderland this year, Chicharito would be just as bad as Altidore.
Reverse the clubs that they play for and the roles, and you might find that Altidore has a lot of success and Chicharito struggles. Altidore was doing very well last season with a better team than Sunderland. He made a bad decision to go to Sunderland. He can transfer after the World Cup and forget about this season. Chalk this season up to a bad season in a tough situation with a bad club. Its nothing more than that. If he goes somewhere else and has the same struggles, then it will be time to worry. Lets see how this summer plays out for Altidore.
It's not a comparison of Altidore and Chicharito. It's a comparison of a reaction of the fans of the two teams. When Altidore was still 'new' and missed, he got drawn and quartered by the S'land fans in their boards. Something that other fans, of other clubs, don't do as quickly. Being criticized after the Hull game, fine, that I can understand. But Jozy got blasted from early on. Cheech has lost several chances, sometimes up to three in a row, in the minutes he appeared. The fans were much more understanding of him, and rightly so. All came about because I was watching the United-Norwich match while reading the Red Café posts. The reactions were such a big contrast to what I've seen in the RTG, that I thought it deserved a comment.
And if my aunt had balls that would also raise some very interesting questions. Wickham scores again.
Eh, Chicharito's goals to minute ratio isn't terrible even this season. Also, other players on Sunderland despite the team being bad are playing at a decent level unlike Altidore.
Chicharito is a better striker than Jozy, in terms of acceleration speed, converting chances and inside the box he has proven to be a more useful player than Jozy in a much better team. Chicharito became benchwarmer because 2 of the best strikers in the Premier League, Van Persie and Rooney, are in the same squad, while Jozy can't even make it into the 11 with Wickham and Borini in the same squad. Van Persie and Rooney are much better players than Wickham and Borini. I am sure as hell Chicharito would be regular starter for Sunderland and maybe even their best player.
No matter what, Jozy's poor first touch will always keep him from finding a lot of success in leagues like the PL. There are kids in MLS who have a better first touch. This will always hold him back.
Sunderland now 3-0 up on Cardiff, who are down to 10 men. 15 minutes left in the game. Cardiff are now de facto relegated. Sunderland now out of the bottom 3, replaced by Norwich.
I will say that Wickham > Jozy when it comes to headers on set pieces. Really don't know why Jozy never showed well in that department.
He's too passive in the air. He thinks himself more Henry than McBride in his style of play. Good news is it looks like Sunderland will stay up. Bad news is Jozy will probably not be on the team next year
Very difficult call. A clear DOGSO attempt, but the player beat the defender, so the ref gives him time to score. The foul starts outside the box, continues inside. So, is it a red card plus a penalty? Or is the start of the foul considered, and it's a red card and a FK on the edge of the box? Also, if the striker had scored, it couldn't be a DOGSO any more, so it was at most a yellow. In that case, wouldn't it be better to let him score? Yellow + goal is better than red + penalty, no? Finally, DOGSO should be called right away. But if it's not called right away, is it still a DOGSO? If the player managed to keep the play going, then what was denied?
The guidance to refs is actually quite clear DOGSO doesn't need to be called straight away. They can allow a few seconds to see if there is an advantage and if there isn't, then the correct call is to call back play to the original foul and send the defender off.
