I thought he helped...pretty decent with passing, got in a good scoring position and almost drew a PK (at least what should have been a FK on the edge of the box)...he also actually took RB's on. He put in a header 35 yards outside the box...I mean I could understand blaming him if that was 25 but Beltran has to come out on the crosser and Omar needs to defend that much better.

Just because you can't see the guy doesn't mean he's behind you!

I think that's what it comes down to. He hasn't seen enough burn to have been in certain situations, or to recognize things as they are happening. You can see the talent, but you also see the inexperience.

LD was poor. At least he was bad enough that I don't see anybody taking issue with JK not starting him anymore! The good news is that we've still got a sendoff series. LD needs to work on that core, and rest up, because he's still got a higher ceiling than most of the players in our pool, and when he's on, we're very good.

18 year old kid makes his first cap against a Mexican team who was clearly outplaying us at that point. Yeah, he was nervous but it's a friendly and he got his feet wet...He took on defenders and when was the last time we had somebody who could do that? green made mistakes but I'm not upset or judging the kid too much after 30 minutes.

Rolling in with the chalkboard here to debunk and underscore some opinions:

    http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2014-04-02-USA-v-MEX/chalkboard

    1. Michael Bradley is the bomb and is MILES away the MOTM
    2. Landon did almost as much in 30 minutes as Clint in 90. That said, neither were excellent. I don't understand the Clint love in the thread. He was poor.
    3. Zusi and Davis were solid.
    4. Beckerman did his job.
    5. Parkhurst should be getting more credit.

He did some other things well, but this was not one of Green's strong suits tonight. His passing was poor.

    9 successful passes
5 unsuccessful passes (a couple of these were gimmes, too)
9 times tackled and lost possession

Am I the only one who thinks Beckerman didn't have a good performance? I think the only reason it didn't appear he had a poor first half is because Bradley stayed back a lot to help cover, but in the second half the game opened up and Bradley was always in the opp half. This left a huge gap in front of the back 4 and Edu also got caught a few times playing too far forward.
Beckerman seemed to be too slow and got caught in the crossfire a few times...

This is a fair assessment. He helped offensively. Got put through nicely (how Dempsey saw Green making that run, I'm not sure, but it was a very nice run and ball) and drew at least a foul on the edge of the 18. He put himself in some good spots in the final third. He did not defend very well; if we bring him along, he has to be used for offense only.

feels and looks an awful lot like German team of 2006 but without Lahm and Ballack to bail us out.

Once we had the goals, we were painfully immature in possession and defending.

Good combination play ruined by poor set piece defending (a hallmark of the bradley/jk era) and terrible, dreadful transition defense.

As a Galaxy fan I've watched roughly 95% of Omar Gonzalez's game both with LA and the USMNT. The guy was a BEAST. Key word is was. Since his inclusion into the USMNT Omar has been shaky, less confident and more hesitant. I dont know whats up with that but its very noticeable. The best thing that can happen between now and June is a CB coming out of the blue and taking his starting spot away. Omar isn't cutting it and its too damn close to the WC for this to be blatantly obvious.

I think the reasoning with Rimando is that the #3 is extremely unlikely to see any game action, so they're taking a "glue guy" that everyone likes on a personal level to boost morale and provide support off the field. Whether or not that's the right call is questionable, but it's not like he's going to see any minutes behind Howard and Guzan barring a legitimate freak situation.

The chalkboard doesn't really tell the whole story on Dempsey, or Parkhurst.

Screw the offside call. Our defense is alarming.

We have to judge him, JK releases the WC roster next month.

I think Green is an absolute lock for the final 23 regardless of his performance tonight. He could have come in, pulled down his pants and dropped a duece in midfield and he would still be going to Brazil. Green is Jk's accomplishment and gamble for the future, no way in hell he leaves him home.

But it does provide a dose of reality. I don't agree with you on Dempsey or Parkhurst.

    Bradley runs this team. Period.

The problem is all of the other teams will know it and are good enough to shut him down. That is why he needs to be paired with someone else who can be a threat. That excludes Edu and Beckerman. Jones is probably the best bet, but I have no idea what kind of form he is in.

As has been apparent from the very beginning of this cycle, our defenders are not strong. We have to make up for that with tactics, or we will get clobbered. This, on the other hand, argues for a Beckerman or Edu (who didn't look good today) to shield the CBs. It's a question for Klinsy that can only be solved relatively easily if Jones is fully fit and in form.

Green looked...green. No surprise...lay off judging him. He's just an 18 yr old kid making his debut. He should not be going to Brazil.

Zusi looked good. Parkhurst was solid.

Julian Green with the least amount of Successful Passes out of everybody

Tackled and Possession lost 9 Times
    2 Unsuccessful Dribbles
    5 Unsuccesful Passes

Apparently, DeAndre Yedlin made 0 Tackles

Yup I think that's fair as well and I think if Green were to come on AND hypothetically play he'd really be used for offense..think 80th minute sub to take on defenders (what we've wished Shea would do more the past 500000 years)

I also was much more satisfied with Dempsey this match. Is he completely back? Probably not, but I think it was definitely a step in the right direction.

Bradley looked fantastic and Zusi's cross was wonderful.

Seriously right? I have to give AJ DelaGarza some major props. He may be wallpapering over a ton of Omar's issues.

Green didn't have the pace of a Shea or of a young Donovan/Beez. No big deal, but time w/re to the Cup is short. He has very little experience at club level. Tough to make an impact when you're not a physical wunderkind on one hand or an experienced stager on the other.

Love the 1v1 of Marquez and Donovan. Guess it's the last we'll see the boys of '02 go at. :(

Rasta - body of work vs Belgium, France, Mexico, Mexico has been quality. Deserves to be in the 23.

Edu - likewise impressive. regular playing can work wonders for a player. In the 23 with continued improvement in form.

Zusi - should start whatever the formation

Bradley - it's his team now.

    Gonzalez - troubling perfomance.

Wondo - firmly in the 30 now. admire the man. admire the story, but can he really help us in Group G?

Dempsey - ha ha. those fouls will obviously get called come the Cup. still has a ton of work to reach peak form and time is getting short.

Parkhurst - firmly in the 30. can play both fullback positions. surprisingly fast.

EJ - when fit always impactful whatever people's personal feelings toward the man. In the 30. Needs to pick it up at club level.
