Plugging their final third up makes it more difficult for us to score. The counter is less open and we'll be required to break them down with quick passing and movement. Harder to do. They know our back line is vulnerable so they'll believe that they will still be able to score while overprotecting their goal. Our FBs aren't very experienced so they'll try to suck them in with the diamond and have the wingbacks overlap into the free space.

Pretty basic tactics, it really shouldn't be that difficult to understand what they're trying to do

Brad Davis starting, but Luis Gil doesn't make the bench?

You're wasting your time with him. Anyone who's played sports at a decent level knows you don't sit out for fear of injury or to prevent injury when you're perfectly healthy and fit. It's asinine.

This isn't about preventing a possible injury. This is a Jurgen decision for whatever the reason.

Still no sign of the Mexican National Team, which was stuck in traffic apparently. The traffic getting here is insane but That’s still bad

I'm seriously confused by this. Jurgen has been so predictable latly with his lineups so this comes at a complete shock. Let only changing the formation.

Nope. I'm out once it starts, plus I always root for the best when it comes to USA. Basically I'll root for jk to prove my dumb ass wrong.

    Errr... how?

Look, guy. If you don't agree with me that's one thing, but there's no need to be a dick about this.

The concept of resting players in matches that aren't important whatsoever isn't "asinine." Look at any Premier League team manager who's rested star players in a League Cup match. The concept is the same. No need to risk players in a low-importance fixture when you've got bigger things coming.

This lineup will make a win so much sweeter.

Agreed. I like the idea of Donovan, Yedlin and Green coming in at tired Mexican legs.

It's not unusual to rest people, but why Donovan and not Dempsey or Bradley? Donovan arguably has the most to prove out of all the "top"US players.

Btw, I'm sure Donovan will play in the second half. No way he sits all game vs Mexico

Donovan on the bench. Not a shocker for those who have been paying attention.

The formation is interestiong as Zusi, Rasta, and Davis have extensive experience playing along the '3' in the midfield of a 433. Not sure is there is enough bite in there or if Bradley is really a cam in the formation.

No friendlies 2 months before the WC are meaningless. Especially when Clint/Landon/Mikey haven't started together in ages.

You know when the last time they started together was?

This isn't a PL vs Cup match or situation. Far from it. That example doesn't apply.

You also haven't answered why Mikey and Clint and Omar and Besler aren't also being rested.

Then I sure hope we are either 0-0 or up by 1 before they get on.

JK needs to get out of the punish Donovan phase. There is no way Brad Davis should start over him.

I disagree with Wondo and Davis starts. I cannot see either of them going and JK should not waste time giving them a lot of minutes. I see no goals with this formation until subs are made. Bradley is not a AM, Dempsey is not a forward

The "Brad Davis and Wondo have no chance at making the WC" crowd might be in for a rude awakening come this summer. JK clearly rates these 2 guys.

Not saying I support their inclusion, because I don't, but the possibility is VERY real.

As I said, I'd kinda prefer Dempsey and Bradley on the bench, too.

No - it applies. You just don't want it to.

    Yes I did.
We're going to just have to agree to disagree here. This exchange is getting tired and neither of us are changing each other's mind.

Try: "contradictory", or "oxymoronic". You can probably leave the "asinine" out... since calling someone asinine is... well, hypocritical.
