During the pregame I saw that they were using just the same small rectangle as before, and I thought it was lame to not use the full capabilities. Then I LOLed.
I completely missed the "joke". I guess I'm just so conditioned to ignoring the video board I wasn't really paying much attention to it.
This is my point though....It looks awesome with the full-screen video but they still showed the game itself only on the same sized space.
I wonder if that's an aspect ratio thing - maybe the existing cameras can't fill the new space without cropping or making everyone look fat.
I believe this is the case. The "New Era" commercial they ran at half-time was all messed up compared to the online version.
Funny that a lot of us missed that, considering we saw photos of the whole screen being used for video capabilities. But then again, what were they going to do? Put a giant tarp over it and have interns rip it down?
Yeah. If they had started from scratch, then they could have done the proper 16x9 (or whatever the ratio is of something that huge). Since they kept the casing from the original board, I'd imagine options were somewhat limited.
I looked all over and was late getting back to my seat for the second half. Had to settle for new smaller Goose Island IPAs at $6. Not sure what I think about that.
I passed 2 guys doing the 50/50 drawing, but was too cold to stop & mess with it. Might have on a different evening.
New seats in premier east are nice. Glad they didn't cave to TV and go with black seats. I will also take back my comments about the east concourse widening, had to vs wanted to. It is nice to have the wide(thanks FF) berth. Non stadium nitpicks, how does concessions run out of crappy hot chocolate? The Crew gear store had a bunch of items that weren't price tagged. The great season ticket blanket hunt was fun, but how about some communication with staff. (The blankets are nicer than the last one)
How much were the 50/50 tickets? The jackpot looked smaller than what I've seen elsewhere (with smaller crowds) and I'm thinking it may have to do with cheaper tickets.
I suggest you tread very carefully tonight when she asks you about the effect of those jeans on her butt.
Not sure if this is the right spot or not, but did anyone else notice the Crew Gear stands under the East Stands? I'm assuming there was one on the East Side too? One thing I noticed, was the one jacket, the black one that the players were wearing on the sidelines was listed at $110.00. However, that was the price that the "price gun" thingy stuck on there. The adidas tag that had the msrp on it, had two hole punches punched out, thereby eliminating the msrp price. What was the original price? Best I can find online is $89.99 for the "Anthem Jacket" (which is what I think it is) on the big soccer shop store. Even the MLS gear store has it at $89.99.
Markups at the stadium? WTF? Impossible. Now let me go buy one of those $8 slices of pizza and wash it down with an $8 beer....
Lol....fair enough..... I guess I never really thought about it in terms of the merchandise before. Food, and drink, yeah, I get that. Hell, expect it. But I guess I would have expected that the merch is the same price on site as it is online at the official league Crew Store.
I would expect merch at either the Crew Gear store/stadium souvenir stands or the mlsgear.com website to be more expensive than at Buckeye Room or Dick's. But I wouldn't expect Crew Gear to be more expensive than MLSGear.
