Well she is the only Swede that are critical for their team (well of the players at least). btw. Isn't this in the wrong thread?
The conversation started with a post about Tyreso salaries, I assume as a comparison point for NWSL salaries; delving into the Swedish NT definitely is off-topic but we got there from a semi-on-topic beginning.
Actually, yeah, I tossed it in here because of Press and her salary compared to NWSL salaries so ur right.
Some audio of Thorns coach Paul Riley from TalkTimbers podcast. He is the last guest. http://hwcdn.libsyn.com/p/7/1/7/717...94736778&hwt=5f740e081bbf91ebc7cb7ac2b8f60466 Riley said he is preparing to be without Morgan for the first two months of the season.
Here is the whole Tyreso salary list. Relevance is what the three US players were making Tyresös alla löner: Spelarna: Marta da Silva 168 000 kr/månaden Veronica Boquete 165 550 kr/månaden Caroline Seger 70 000 kr/månaden Fabiana da Silva Simones 69 970 kr/månaden Lisa Dahlkvist 39 000 kr/månaden Rilany Aqular da Silva 37 170 kr/månaden Tinja Riikka Korpela 33 000 kr/månaden Thaisa Monero 32 687 kr/månaden Christen Press 32 247 kr/månaden Mayara de Fonseca Bordin 30 980 kr/månaden Linda Sembrant 30 000 kr/månaden Madelaine Edlund 30 000 kr/månaden Line Rödddik Hansen 25 000 kr/månaden Carola Söberg 23 000 kr/månaden Whitney Engen 20 000 kr/månaden Malin Diaz 15 000 kr/månaden Megan Klingenberg 15 000 kr/månaden Johanna Rytting Kaneryd 10 000 kr/månaden Tränarna: Tony Gustavsson 75 000 kr/månaden Peter Olsson 15 000 kr/månaden
Two questions: - What was the salary range again for allocated US players? - For this monthly salary, is it for the full 12 months of the calendar year or just the length of the season?
The number always thrown around is $30k/season for a US allocated player in NWSL - that is, $30k of their total USSF compensation is attributed to their play in NWSL. Not sure about the season/year thing. If we're generous, though, Kling was being paid $1.5k/month/year, which totals $18k - a bit more than the NWSL non-allocated average, but still not great. Of course, that still means Tyreso was paying more for its roster than several NWSL teams combined even if you ignore Marta and Vero - with much less revenue. No wonder they're in trouble.
They get $30K for playing in the NWSL if that's what u mean...If u mean the tiers on a full contract they were $30K, $50k & $70K in 2006. No idea what the new tiers r except higher I would assume it length of season. In Sweden I guess that's 7 months as opposed to 5 in US. So Press got a monthly raise but lost money on the value of the contract. Klingenberg did well as did Engen. Wonder what Engen got at Liverpool?
There was mention of an annual increase when the original was announced. At the time some scuttlebutt was that it was 5%. If it was, the $30k tier turns into about $40k at the end of the six year CBA (2012). Even at only 3% it turns into almost $36k. At 5%, the top tier turns into $93k.
Only if they settle with their creditors. I have no idea what assets they have other than player contract holdings, but liquidation is a ( remote) possibility.
I wonder whether salaries of players in Sweden are based somewhat on seniority and league rules rather than merit? It would be ironic if the Swedes had a more capitalistic professional soccer system than we have in the NWSL.
It's amzing that they spent more on Fabiana than on Press, Engen and Klingenberg combined. I hope Fabiana can cover those three spots when they leave.
Well Riley said last night they were going to Arizona and practices would be concentrated on tactics. That will be new for some of them.
Parlow said same stuff Riley did. Riley hasn't won shit in his coaching career. We will see if he does what he says.
NWSL has a seriously low salary cap, and 1/3 of each team is paid for by the federations. I think it's probably one of the LEAST capitalistic leagues out there. X-D
No, no league rules at all for player salaries. It is up to club and player to agree on something they both will accept. The promotion relegation system keep teams from paying to little, and fear of bankruptcy to paying to much (or for long anyway). And if a club overreached and goes bankrupt the only thing important is that they can play out the season since there are always more teams\clubs eager for promotion.
NWSL should raise the salary cap to $250,000. It would still be the lowest paid high quality professional league in the world, by far.
