no, its unless I'M the one judging it, not you, GET IT RIGHT! ;)

the first one is starting to grow on me, but damn it all its just so flawed. The size of the letters and space on the side kills it.

I'm just speculating that this was probably the logo. Or are you asking me where that pic came from? When NYC FC wsa running their create own badge contest, their twitter account ran a hashtag and i just happened upon that pic. That was months ago. I commented to the poster that i really liked it. I remembered thinking it looked like the Yankees logo so i just went back on twitter and found it. The twitter user is @milokowalski716. And here is his website :

Yeah that's been floating around here for a while now.

I definitely think that lettering was what they intended for this logo but I have to agree, it is extremely close to the Yankees' logo just with a C around it. No way could the Yankees let it be that close. They're not likely to always hold a stake in this team and with a logo that similar and a sport that is trending up, compared to Baseball which is still trending down, it's just not a good situation for that club.

Frankly, the circular NYCFC -- the one I'm pretty damn confident will win -- looks great and grows more and more on me every day.

Design #2 does resemble the logo of Inter Milan a little bit... :)

I'm gonna disagree with the general consensus on this thread and say stuffing an orange letter in the middle is/was distracting and cartoonish (IMO, obviously).

I like the one they will end up with - and it includes a little orange in the outside circle, which is plenty for a color that's clearly going to be the 4th choice for the squad behind the two blues and white.

According to information from New York City FC website, we may know as soon as this Thursday March 13th the next badge results, with a formal unveiling on March 20th: (Registered e-mail fans of NYCFC will know before everyone else via e-mail blast the team is planning a head of the formal unveiling)

    Article about the unveiling: http://nycfc.com/News/Latest-News/2014/March/Badge-vote

From NYCFC website: "New York City FC announced March 10th, 2014 that it wants its fans to choose the Club’s official team badge as the Club counts down to its inaugural season which kicks off in approximately one year – March 2015.

Starting March 10th, 2014 and ending on Thursday March 13th, fans will have the opportunity to vote on their preferred badge from two options, created by renowned designer Rafael Esquer and chosen by the Club. The badge that receives the most votes will become the bedrock of the Team’s identity and will be formally unveiled in New York City on March 20th."

If they go with that one, you can add the pentagons on either side or a pentagon on one side and a leather football on the other (A la, ManU).

I don't particularly care for the font, though I'm partial to Century Gothic and Blair Medium.

maybe it does but the intertwined letters have been part of NY for over 100 years, so resembles or not, it's still something very new york.

Aesthetically I find the tricolor lettering to be more pleasing. Putting it on the circular badge helps to make the letters really pop, and stand out. To my eye the all white lettering becomes a muddled mess and the sizing really make it seam like the C and the Y are the focus. The tricolor helps draw you in to the N then back out again. Obviously to each his or her own, just saying why I find the tricolor to be superior.

    @MattND28 @IowaClone

Here is the post that had the orange or at least I believe this to be what was being referred to.

I agree with you here to the point of adding the orange color to the "N", being that the "N" in the locking letters is much smaller in size, adding orange to the "N" would make it the lead off focal point of design away from the other letters in the circular crest design.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking "city" has a reason for wanting the "C" to be the biggest letter.

An interesting read. It seems to me that the reasoning behind the colored vs monochromatic is sound, however, it seems that they were probably intended to be different designs. Yes I can make out all the elements in the monochromatic, but it seems more forced than it should be just my 2 cents.

Wait, these badges are from the guy responsible for the Rockets looking like a f--king WNBA team for the last decade? I knew there was something I didn't like about them.

Removed from the miserable design it's up against, I'm really starting to like this one. I wish the pentagon were more prominent because I think that's a really unique feature (maybe they can use it in secondary marking?), but this will age really well. It does come across as something of an Inter knockoff, but the interlocking lettering is something the Yankees have always done, and it fits well with other emblems in the game worldwide. As a neutral, I could definitely appreciate and get used to seeing this crest.

i think if maybe the inner circle was orange too it would be better. and that small N still bugs me.

without more orange it is way to Man City dominant colours ... and woo hoo! another blue MLS team ... the league did not have enough of those so ... whew.

The interlocking letters of this new team should be a marketing bonanza in the New York metro area and beyond. I could see non supporters of soccer and this team buying merchandise with the interlocking letters representing New York City, it could be just as big as the Yankees interlocking "NY" logo from a sales standpoint.
