Yep! I'm sure they all felt american when they wore another country's jersey! I bet they felt even more american when they realized they had no chance in making the senior national team of the team they originally chose. Your new slogan should be "US Soccer, we take washed up retiree's for our league and washed up dual nationals, for our national team"

unless you have some latin or non murican influence in your life, your most likely not to be down with soccer. hence all these pseudo foreigners.

even landon grew up with Mexicans that pushed him to what he is.

yep, unless you have family pushing soccer or history of soccer, like most latins, or non muricans do, then you have to generate this love of the sport by yourself.

and when every kid has an american football or basketball, kids are playing these sports instead of soccer at a young age.
Americans dont only just grow up with a soccer ball at their feet, they mix in a football or bball or baseball. this takes away their practice or playing around with a soccer ball.

Also just as americans like iphones and beats by dre instead of nokia brick phone or some 20 dollar ear buds, they would rather play on a nice grass soccer field, than in the street, in the hallway, in an alleyway or other non ideal place.

This also take away time with the ball at your feet, which in turn makes you a better ball handler.

This is why NADs suck technically but excel physically.

it's a thread for the regulars to poke fun at the USMNT.

Not for guests to come in and attempt to debate the fairness of it.

Where I live (Sonoma County)... Basketball, Baseball & Football are pretty big (particularly in the smaller towns where the H.S. teams might be big attraction on any given night)... yet I rarely see anyone play pick up games... for the most part most Americans don't have a culture of pick up games.. outside of ethnic inner city hoods... it just isn't part of the cultural dna of U.S. Suburban & Rural dominant culture... that is why you rarely see skilled White athletes even in the big U.S. sports... soccer as a suburban sport will have a hard time developing skill players.

The dream of the average USMNT fans (middle class, white, suburban male) is that some day the urban black athletes drawn to the football & basketball will someday choose soccer... but it ignores a couple of facts:

    (1) Will those "super athletes" in the NFL & NBA actually have the foot-eye coordination & center of gravity?
    (2) Will those "super athletes" be effective in a game where you typically run 5 to 6 miles with 30 to 45 sprints in 90 minutes?

Many of the specialized physical attributes that lead to successful NFL & NBA players are often mutually exclusive with the endurance / repeated sprints needed to be successful in soccer.

actually NBA is repeated sprints, although many breaks are mixed in there to releive that.

Jamaica and caribean teams are an example of strong but poor technical specimen

African teams are a bigger population, with greater talent, but no real large success as of yet.

Whenever I have been to NBA games... I rarely see people run all out... its more of an acceleration followed by some bounding etc.,... maybe the college / international game is different with more fast breaks etc.,... but NBA you rarely see more than a 10 yard acceleration... and then again they sit alot... maybe I am wrong but I read somewhere that the average bb player runs about 2 to 3 miles in a game... that is about half as much as futbol.

you ever play full court basketball? Its almost like playing indoor soccer.

Youd probably throw up after 5 minutes or just not run back on defense and get the fast break easy points run on you.

Eh sorry gonna have to disagree

I grew up playing basketball, and it's no where near as taxing as indoor footy (let alone 11 v 11 for 90 min)

Its all proportional to how hard you play. You could be a cherry picker and do jackshiet or you could be a defensive machine that goes balls out in bball and sprints up and down the court. Basketball can be as hard as indoor.
