They lose and win games like every other top team in friendlies.. So I can't take the mentality of Spain and Italy from friendlies..

Also this brings up a serious question..

We talk about mentality of German players.. Bayern and bvb basically broke that barrier last year and they pretty much make up the entire NT.

This year bayern are even more composed and mentally stronger then last.. So how do these same players have great mental strength for bayern and bvb and then it falls into shit for the NT??

Is the blame strictly on low??

I really think the players have zero faith in him and it seems to show..

It's like united and Moyes situation going on

Do you mind explaining why was he whistled after a missed pass and booed when subbed? He had 1 assist and created 2 more great chance. He was best German in qualifiers as well , top scorer etc. meanwhile kroos was shit but no whistle to him.. Why the double standard?

I don't care for motivation. It shouldn't be the coaches job to motivate his players for a World Cup, if you're not already motivated by the simple facts it's the World Cup, you should get the ******** off the team IMO.

Based on what? one half of a football game? Javi did well in the first half. the first 15 were bad for the whole team then Bayern controlled the game, unless you are an Arsenal fan you'd say the red card changed the game.

Pep had to switch in the second half because Boateng was on a yellow he was worried he'd get a red since the home team was a man down Ref's become card happy to even the score.
Second he didn't really need a DM since Arsenal were only parking a bus after the red card

And since you seem to know more than Pep why did he try Schweini there against Schalke since he is a failure?

And what your response be if Pep plays Schweini or Javi at the DM again in the CL? because I bet you he will

Thats not the case with Germany, most of the players know they are locks for the World Cup whether they perform well or not. Ozil can suck with Arsenal and the NT till the end of the season and he will make it to the WC because he is one of Loew's darlings

No. They actually have a huge winning percentage across the board. And you can see it from the way they approach matches. They rarely if ever look lethargic and they are always concentrated.

Yea I'm afraid you're right. There is some kind of disconnect. He can't get the right balance between the BVB and Bayern camp and it doesn't help that they are philosophically different. It's not easy and I think all the tinkering he has done has rubbed some players the wrong way. It basically sends the message that he isn't sure. Like, all the time.

Doesn't matter, I'm talking about actual games in the WC. The players will play hard and motivated for the simple fact that it is the WC.

Well we can only go by evidence right? Pep has favored Lahm every time. Or let's say 99% of the time. Schweinsteiger was always paired with a runner or "tackler" and his most successful form were always next to such a player. Schweinsteiger isn't a great tackler and doesn't have the same defensive awareness and that's ok. He started his career as an attacking player. He doesn't need to be holder. He was played deep because a double pivot required a retainer and that's his best quality but his runs forward are also excellent and to play him as lone holder would be to hold back the latter and just emphasize the former.

Martinez on the other hand is less elegant than Lahm. He is more aggressive but prone to fouls. He is less efficient. He moves the ball just less capable than Lahm and in general is less skilled technically (he is skilled but in direct comparison). And Lahm is also the smarter player, all attributes more necessary when the aim of the tactic is to win ball, retain, move, and edit the game as efficiently as possible. If we have to condense the requirements of a single holding player, the two most important attributes are intelligence, tackling, and passing and you'd be hardpressed to argue Schweinsteiger and Martinez edge Lahm out collectively in these fields. They just don't.

Or the reality which is because he's one of Germany's key players and their best performer over the past 3 and a half years. Oh and because he actually won't suck because he hasn't. He's had a couple of bad months because he was driven into the ground by a manager who lost the plot. That's reason enough for the outrageous conclusions and idiotic vitriol that's been thrown around. He gets shit when he doesn't score and assist. He gets shit when he actually assists and scores. Maybe the problem isn't just him.

Honestly, i dont give a shit if they fail or win. You can sit back and watcn another pants crapping or you can think of the semfinal in 2006 that was played by a supposedly less skillful team than this one. If one has no guts, skill will dry up on the pitch.

Lahm seesms to be pretty timid. He seems like he is a yes-man as opposed to one with the courage to speak up and inspire when the opposition is dominating. Müller, KG and Hummels are the opposite.

But why am i saying all this? You guys are the fans who can watch another glamorous capitulation or wisen up towhat is going on and understand why that if things go on like this that Germany will crap pants for the third or fourth time in a row.

they didnt break it in this context. Otherwise, why didnt england do well in euro 2000 or world cup 2006?

Different team and diferent ways of thinking about expectations. Bayern and bvb are different entiies...different histories too.
Dfferent players - major non-german influences at both clubs.
    Dfferent coaches.

Isn't ozil top scorer in WC qualifier and arguably best player. He doesn't deserve to go to the WC? What motivates your thoughts his bloodline?

2006 was the most dignified exit by far. 2008 to 2012 were unravellings.

If you are lucky they will get onto the field and just rip a really bad fart instead and lose to brazil. At least you can blame the crowd.
Honestly though, brazil will probably take them apart. But hey, there is always next tournament when götze will be 26 etc etc

Both Subotic and Aogo were interviewed and both agreed that Kevin Volland may be the player who can really help the national team this World Cup. Aogo even think Volland has a "real chance" of making the final roster.

Aogo thinks Volland is very very strong physically, but also fast, skilled n aggressive. The type of player who Loew likes

Subotic thinks Volland impressed him and is having a "super-season" thus far. Also mentioned about the advantage of the lack of options at his position for the NT

Lahm didn't have a good game though. I am not sure if it was Low's instructions, but he should not be charging 20 meters forward trying to press their midfield and backline.

Agreed. My point was that looking at poor individual performances to assess system is misguided.

Interesting that voters all think Schmelzer and Jansen are liabilities to the defense and prefer Lahm at LB

Jansen's injury (out 6 weeks) doesnt help apparently

My favorite thing about the internet: Everyone thinks he knows best.

You guys are incredible: If Jogi uses Lahm in the midfield, he's just following Pep's lead. If he keeps him at RB, he doesn't know what he's doing. Maybe he should just let him take over for Neuer so he can surprise everyone with a new, never-before-seen approach to shut you all up.

This was a friendly featuring a less than perfect German side, missing several of its key players, struggled a team that did well. What can you expect? That's usually how it works: You don't do well, you struggle. It's not some newfangled concept that needs to be dissected. I won't get too bogged down that they didn't kick Chile's ass the way I want Germany to kick everyone's ass. I'm more bothered by the fact that a lack of fire in their performances - especially the Bayern midfield - is a big part of why they struggled. But I really don't think this has anything to do with Jogi. And I'm not going to put the blame on him if players who are part of one of the teams favorite to win the World Cup are acting like assholes.
