I'd prefer white shorts, personally. The socks could be either color (blue/white/red) and still look good. Imagine this:
I respect your opinion, but I feel white shorts and red socks would save it better. Nothing screams single entity like standard uniforms.
All adidas kits have the stripes on the shoulders. Always have, probably always will. It's their "thing." There are different necks. For example:
Reversible single-color-each-side scrimmage pinneys for all. Then -- no more KC wearing Revs navy on Revs home field. One problem solved. A few more to go.
I feel like a professional jersey should have some bells and whistles, like a collar, writing on the inside of the jersey, a tab thing, a color gradient, vents, indentation patterns, tech-fit, something to justify why its worn by professional athletes in a major league sport. From the picture I see, there really isn't much going on with the Revs, except for a different sponsor logo. These remind me of a standard soccer jersey in the early 90's. I would say the jersey is a throw-back to the 1986 Argentina WC look
France (above) and England both seem to disagree with that premise. There's nothing saying that the Revs shirt doesn't have that tech fit option. I just hope its more subtle than this past iteration of adidas shirts.
Yeah those national team Jerseys are about as plain as you can get, apparently the US one is very plain too, but I think for a club team, the Revs would rank pretty high on the plain-o-meter. I have a theory that these jerseys are intentionally plain so that the next iterations of jerseys can have more of an impact. After all when you go from plain to something else, something else looks a lot better
I don't care for the half-half gradient look. What it means is that if Portland is wearing their red/black "away" kit, any red or black team will have to be in white. Black teams like DC couldn't wear their black vs Portland, since the dark green isn't much of a contrast. Same thing for Chicago vs us or any blue team. What is wrong with having two distinct looking jerseys, with the second one in an obvious contrasting color? Portland with the green and red was a good option, but now they've defeated the whole point of the red "change" kit.
Not sure if this is the special offer, but you can get the new home jersey customized for $105. Interestingly, the away jersey, the same price, is being modeled by Fernandez with what looks one eye closed.
Also, I really don't care for that all white look. I hope we hear dark shorts with that jersey at some point and maybe some red or blue socks to boot.
I'd start communicating that fact with the front office then. Enjoyed seeing NE in the past in the blue/blue/red and get annoyed seeing so many teams with their primary and secondary uniforms being the same color head to toe.
I think the past jerseys have been way too busy with strange "tech" features running down the narrow sides also don't forget the gray shoulder pads! Simple yet unique is what the team should be striving for. On the spectrum of jersey looks - "plain" should always be preferable to busy and ridiculous. I think a classy blue jersey that fits well is just what the team needs. Maybe it will keep all you pudgy, pasty types from looking like too much sausage stuffed into too little casing all summer long at Gillette.
[tinfoil hat]Diego's one eye can be explained as a common NWO (New World Order) symbol. You see the one eye covered or closed on famous people all over the movie and music industry - and symbolism even in NFL team logos (note one eye pats logo).[/tinfoil hat] Or, it's an odd coincidence.
