The only "point" in giving the team an interim brand would be in getting rid of (formally killing off) the dying brand ASAP. (But operationally, it likely causes more issues than it would "resolve" by hastily introducing some new brand, even as a very genetic placeholder like MLS LA or MLS USA for only 10 months in 2014.)
I forgot about them. If they get bought by the Dodgers, then they could be called the LA Goal Dodgers.
LA Lameducks ...at least for one year Aztecs is a bad idea IMO, not because of any copyright thing, those can be bought and sold, but because "Aztecs" really isnt much better than "Chivas" from the standpoint of pandering to a specific culture/ethnicity, same as 'mayans" or "incas" might.
That's fair. Also because people are posing when they reference it. They have no memory of the Aztecs (who were not terribly popular the first time around, even with Best and Cruyff). It's a good, fun name, sure, but, as you rightly point out, not an improvement. Like many of the people who have come to the party since 2002 (or more recently, since Seattle invented soccer), they're trying to latch onto the retro and claim it as their own, or they're actually old enough to remember it and are trying to act Born Again Trendy. Lastly, WTF is it with you people that teams and brands that don't exist (yet or anymore) are so goddamn more fascinating than teams and brands that actually exist? Jesus, the sale wasn't 2 hours removed before people were intent on designing scarves. All. In. Good. Time.
Angelenos' FC yes thats a possessive, thats the point. It'd be a team that belongs to LA natives. Keep the vertical stripes and keep the red color. gotta love that red vs blue inner city rivalry right? Arsenal/Chelsea, Liverpool/Everton, United/City, RBNY/NYCFC, AFC/LAG. play at either Titan Stadium or the rose bowl (big game venue) temporarily. Just get the hell away from the SHC and watch how easy it is to maintain ones own identity.
I don't think you can mix a Spanish word and the English rules for possessives. Seems very "Real Salt Lake" too me.
Since LA and Southern Cal has a huge car culture: Thunderbirds - former roller derby team Firebirds Barracudas Roadrunners Mustangs Cobras - was an Arena Football League team Stingrays Dusters
well, an Angeleno is just a term for somebody that lives in LA, like a New Yorker or a Bostonian. it just happens to have an alternative language of origin, which happens from time to time in the english language. so I believe it can follow those rules.
With the announcement that the goal is to have the club play in its own stadium at the site of the old LA Sports Arena near the LA Coliseum. I could image keeping the theme with Troy and Roman heritage. Keeping this in mind, imagine them rebranded as "Los Angeles Legion FC" with the colors of royal purple, old gold and black.
LA Galaxy III since they just missed out on LA Galaxy II. Could be a model for European reserves reserve team
