This might be correct but I hope not. It seems to me to fail as a matter of simple arithmetic, and doesn't help matters in terms of team momentum or energy. Ie, how are we supposed to conserve energy for the end of the season by playing Arteta, JFW and Giroud 90 mins each in games where they were clearly struggling for fitness? Doesn't compute for me. As far as Podolski is concerned the issue for me is pretty clear. If he plays center forward he's out of position. I have a bigger issue with Bendtner. I've trashed him in this forum for years, but if he's the best option (and for the moment I think he is), you've got to play him.
Straight up crazy talk. We've seen that when he's fit he can be a monster. Unfortunately for us and him, he's perma-crocked so it's a non starter.
Oh, I was equally disappointed. Winning the big games is more fun. And I've got too many Man Utd fans in my neck of the woods to not consider this as somehow more than just a game. And it was a crappy stream at work... Just a bad afternoon. And yet, if I take a little distance, like I have really tried too with this and last season, and not get so caught up in transfer and lineup failures, I've enjoyed the Arsenal more than at any time since the Invincibles. Yesterday was hard though. I wanted the big rebound spanking of Man Utd....
I agree with collecting 3 points against the lesser clubs is the biggest factor in winning the league, but factor this into your thoughts -Would Chelsea be in 1st place if they went to draw against City?
Great question, because we all know that Mourinho isn't the type to ever settle for a draw in a big game.
But they did Jose allardyce played 3 fuhkin d MUDs smh did you watch the game? City lost cause they overran the Undivine ponytail
quotes or gtfo talk shit then pretend you have some fictional moral high ground. gfy, you waste of space.
You two are missing the point of the question. Arsenal have been not losing, but getting their asses whopped away to big teams while drawing at home against them. You honestly think that won't play a factor at the end of the season when it's all said and done?
Yeah, i know we've had some bad results and can't beat big teams, i've already said that. We've never been favorites for the title and still aren't. What would you like me to do about it? Should i throw a shit fit and cry about it, or just hope that the team can get better and with good dose of luck, win something?
I'm commenting on the agreement that Arsenal doesn't need to beat the big teams to win the title. If you look at a page 18, many posters were in agreement with this and IMO, that strategy should be thrown out the window when the big teams are getting 4 points off Arsenal while Arsenal are getting 1. This draw last night IMO didn't do us any favors. Edit: Granted, I agree with hoping for some luck and slip ups from the other contenders.
So let me ask you this, where would we be in the table if we had actually drawn in those big games instead of getting our asses whooped?
I'm missing the point of your question but 1st with some cushion considering that 2 points City would've lost and a point extra against Manutd. Edit: Not considering the Liverpool game because it's a wash when both team collected 3 points off one another.
People say that but it's just not so. I think it's mostly a matter of wish fulfillment. People imagine that he's some kind of unicorn. Because his availability is so rare, it must be really special when we do have it. But the reality is much more prosaic. He has over 100 appearances for us in almost ten years as an Arsenal property. In those appearances, he's been pretty much mediocre. He had at least one excellent performance against Liverpool but that was probably 18 months ago now. In terms of what he's done for us lately, it's not much. In order for him to be a legit contributor for us, he has to show a consistent level of play, at the age of 27, that he has never done heretofore. It's not completely impossible that that could happen but I would prefer not to try. I don't think he can get enough appearances with us to build a reputation for consistency after all he's gone through.
Going forward, do we keep this strategy? IMO, it'll depend on the situation. Getting a point at Stamford may not hurt if goal differential favors but what about City at home?
I would tend to favor going for a draw on the road and a win at home, but if you don't think you can beat a team, then a draw is a good result.
I think getting all 3 against City will be key because they would've gained 4 points against us while we only one and those points may play a role at the end, if not most likely. Tough thoughts for Wenger and the players....
cant imagine a team playing for a 0-0 match being a cup final, unless they were banking on penalties.
