Dear me, these people are just giving away all of the stuff that wasn't intended for the non-paying public to know! Someone stop them, quick. [Duck.]
Apparently you don't really understand the issue. It's not talking about the supporter's summit that's the issue, it's cross-posting things from a private message board.
"No offers for Sene," does that mean within MLS or outside the league? I wouldn't have thought there'd be a lot of interest in moving him, with the injury and all that. Too bad Billelo whiffed on the bus question. If they put a little thought and effort into it, it could easily be 300 and not 50 fans. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything else.
It's natural to expect him to keep improving after a pretty impressive rookie season. After all, he didn't even start in the early going - he won the job and kept it until the late going. I expect to get more than the 2013 Caldwell, even if it's only the 2014 Caldwell. And, I'm hoping, he hit the weight room in a serious way in the offseason.
Apparently you.... ......didn't read my earlier post saying "cross post" was a bad choice of words and was not my literal intent. It turns out that it was a very bad choice of words, as it has obscured what I was really getting at: The Mid Riders twitter account yesterday indicated a few times an intent and preference to post publicly, and live -- Since that did not actually happen on Twitter, there was hope that anything of interest could be shared today (But not hope for it to be plagiarized/stolen from elsewhere.). As opposed to the multiple tweets and postings here today saying updates had instead been posted elsewhere. They sure were a teaser! Since there was intent to publicly post via Twitter as it happened, not sure how it all then got turned into a secret after the fact. That is the issue I was getting at. Not the literal use of the word "cross-post" -- that's a 2nd issue that you are pursuing. [I understand what the 1st issue is, just fine; and addressed your 2nd issue already.] But is all meaningless anyways -- the "value" of what was said is apparently "zero".
wonder if they tried to shop Parkhurst for a Striker. I'd have to think he would have some value within the league. International Defenders with Bundisliga experience and can play Rb, CB and LB do not exactly grow on trees
Neither do goals. I think the league puts much more of a premium on goals than they do preventing them. Adequate defenders are much more readily available.
Cell service was terrible in the part of the bar people were in and there was no steady wi-fi connection to continue live tweeting.
Yes, that was explained on Twitter by MRiders (in the tweets I quoted). Thanks for the reminder. The main points of the meeting were going to be tweeted by MRiders - aka publicly. They weren't, understandable due to technical issues. But to imply that the info cannot later be shared and is only for paid Supporters is somewhat at odds with the stated intent (on Twitter) of MRiders to share it publicly. Simply, since the intent was to share publicly, would it actually be shared publicly? That's the sum of it. It's the whole reason I asked (in a very badly worded way) in the first place. The clear (official?) answer I have heard here is NO. (And that too is OK, if that is what MRiders now wants. It's just a little different than what was said publicly yesterday. ) Not a big deal, but that is the main point. (i.e. not the words "cross posting", not the technical wifi issues at the bar -- those are just "noise" that are, whether intended or not, drawing attention away from the main question I was (poorly) asking. )
Hilarious. You kind of concocted this entire situation where the Midnight Riders are trying to "suppress" information coming out of the Supporters Summit due to my one post in which I responded to your post that seemed as if you wanted people to copy and paste things from the Midnight Riders private board. Luckily, it seems like you sorted this out on your own, realizing that your original post was "poorly worded." I have no problem sharing any news that came up at the meeting but I know the Riders value this event as an incentive to join up.
For those that were not there last night you didn't miss much so don't feel as if you're out of the loop or something. I will say, however, that Burnsie was a little more candid than usual. Did he reveal anything ground breaking or eye opening? No. Maybe next year people can get a couple drinks in MB and BB beforehand and then see what they say.
He just talked a lot more with each question and a lot of the time he ended up saying, "I probably said more than I should..."
Imagine them putting thought and effort into anything, really. I was at the first Summit, where BB denied there was a lot of Pats signage at Gillette while standing in front of a Pats logo sign and Mike Burns gave the most deadpan answer-without-answering answer to a question about how the team signs players I actually thought I saw the last creative brain cell in his head leap from his ear and die on the floor. I haven't been back due to their insistence on having these things on weeknights at inconvenient times and because each one sounds just like the last one.
Well...no...not really. It was also due to your 2nd post. The one where you made sure to quickly further highlight the private aspect of the event. (Yes, the one that came after the post in which you had already let everyone know that cross posting was banned.) Maybe you forgot that one: I kinda thought the "access" you mentioned meant giving the chance only to supporters to frame the questions and pose them in person. Beyond that exclusivity, I thought the supporters would actually welcome the chance to be in a position to play back team news to a broader base than just to supporters groups. When that turned out to not be the case (i.e. when some posters here implied that the news could be had only at a cost), the quick and loud response saying so truly caught me by surprise. I had always viewed the supporters groups as advocates to a certain extent for fans in general, and also (to a certain extent) as informal ambassadors for the team -- trying to bolster support, doing some communication on the team's behalf, that sort of thing. So the pushback on this was unexpected, given how I had previously perceived the supporters groups. [...and given that recaps of some meetings between Supporters and FO had been posted on this board in the past. Example: https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/supporters-v-fo-6-29-r-meeting-recap.1769168/ This was long after the MRiders private message board had already been in existence..] "Concocted". Good word. Really sets a tone. I have to remember to throw that one at a few people soon. `
Enough with this please. Nothing was said at the Summit that was news. This isn't shocking. This team has always dealt with their supporters as if telling us anything will let the terrorists win.
So in other words, his answers were longer, but he didn't reveal anything more? Sounds like he has been studying at the feet of the other BB (Belichick).
Yes they are - and as firstshirt said, Parkhurst isn't "adequate." Adequate is the draft picks you get when you trade for said defender.
Well, we probably could have had EJ, but I can understand their passing on that option. For whatever reason, player for player trades are pretty rare in MLS. Our 6 player deal with the Metrostars still stands out as an MLS blockbuster. It seems a lot easier and preferable to trade for MLS currency, which appears to be draft picks and allocation money (and re-entry draft slots, etc.). I'd hardly call the #4 pick in the draft "adequate". It's a pretty valuable commodity, even if it does require using it wisely.
While trading players for other "commodities" is much more common in MLS, I wouldn't call player-for-player trades "rare" (unless you are talking about the Revs). There were 9 in the last calendar year alone. Code: 1/15/2014 - Hurtado and Ianni (SEA) for Anibaba (CHI) 1/14/2014 - White (DCU) for Parke (PHI) 1/7/2014 - Chavez (SJE) for Harris (COL) 12/13/2013 - Cooper (DAL) for Moffat (SEA) 12/12/2013 - Villafana (CHV) for Jean-Baptiste (POR) 12/11/2013 - Bowen (CHV) for Rosales (SEA) 9/9/2013 - Urruti (TOR) for Dike (POR) 5/25/2013 - Rogers (CHI) for Magee (LAG) 2/13/2013 - Zemanski (CHV) for Bornstein (POR)
