Some applause for Altidore's hold up play.

I think the red card could have been avoided. If Brown wasn't such an idiot, he would have noticed that he had caught up with the striker and didn't need to just hack him down. He could have made an attempt to get the ball.

Jozy can still show his value to the club, but it could be a long day for him scoring-wise.

Hull score off a corner. Jozy clears (doesn't hear mannone behind him) and a shot from the top of the box is redirected by Long past mannone.

Relax Relax, they are in the middle of olympic coverage. It will be shown on tape delay so they need to prioritize that.

Not at all Jozy's fault though. Its a defender's job to clear the ball in the box and thats what Altidore did. If the GK wants to come for a ball on a corner kick, then he goes and gets it. The defenders in the box should not be listening to the GK's command.

They were doing ok with 10 until they had to sacrifice Borini, now Jozy has barely seen the ball.

The sending off has ruined this game. You can tell that Sunderland has more quality in their squad and their speed of thought is faster. You can notice though that they are missing an attacker. If it was 11 vs. 11, Sunderland would be controlling this game.

S'Land online fans' amity towards Jozy lasted all of one week, ending with the clearance attempt.

I could think of three or four players that were more at fault for that goal than Altidore. Why anyone would try to blame him for that goal is beyond me.

Apparently, we have returned to the wacky version of Sunderland today.

Down a goal, down a man and several of them still refuse to play like a team.

Livermore is trying to earn his 2nd caution before the end of the half. I think the ref should oblige him and even the sides up.

Johnson got a hold to a volley full on, but unfortunately straight at the keeper.

Given the circumstances, they're doing a nice job.

Strong play from Jozy ultimately leads to a shot on goal by Johnson.

Yup. The ref will probably compensate and send off a hull player before minute 60.

Pretty encouraging half from Sunderland honestly. Good effort and some decent buildup. Johnson had a chance to score with a decent volley from outside the box on a bit of a break (released by Altidore). Shot it straight at the keeper. But still very encouraging considering they're a man down. Definitely could nick a goal (or two) if they continue to keep it close.
