Don't be obtuse. A player should be able to place a goddam penalty on the bar regardless of who his manager is. I've already stated that it's Moyes fault we were even in pks. Due to his tactics.
I'm actually really proud of this team for playing with so much heart, drive, and determination against a superior Sunderland.
Seriously, we've gotten to the point where a minority actually think we've got the worst set of players in the league once we lose RVP, Rooney and Carrick.
again, i'm not defending moyes or his tactics. we absorbed way too much pressure and kagawa didn't deserve to be subbed off. but it's not true to say that we didn't have chances. hernandez completely whiffed on two golden opportunities. welbeck was a freaking shadow in the box and could barely stand upright. januzaj was very selfish on more than a few occasions. and valencia, was well, the valencia he's been since the end of 2011/12. i don't buy the mismanagement of players (which is factual) having anything to do in going 1/5 on PKs. that's just disgraceful from a professional football club.
um... we're shit without these 3 guys. that's not a new phenomenon, we just were lucky with health last year. carrick was bound to break down at some point being 32 and having played seeemingly every single game for the last 5 years. rvp has been very fragile historically too. the gap between these guys and their subs is just staggering. again, that doesn't excuse moyes' shortcomings. there's ample room to criticize players and manager.
If Moyes had a modern training regime and did not run key individuals into the ground then we might have had our regular penalty takers available.
i liked the animated one but only the first CGI one. ----- well there goes Europe then unless we have a huge upturn in form. same basic errors game in game out. even if these players hate Moyes that much there is no excuse for some of the stuff tonight. if you want a move away then basic errors won't help that and if you want to stay at United as a top club they don't help either. to be fair to de Gea though, he is usually quite consistent. not surprising though, not a single player is in good form aside from maybe Welbeck given he managed a little streak and Januzaj given what we should expect from an 18yr old anyway. not sure why Valencia came on yet again. even if Moyes rates him that highly then rest your best player once in a while? no interview from Moyes yet that i can find. i'm sure people will want to hear what he has to say for various reasons. i'll post it when it is available
ah there it is: Moyes: http://www1.skysports.com/watch/vid...ster-united/9128915/shoot-out-shock-for-moyes Mannone & Poyet: http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/9128888/penalties-send-sunderland-to-the-final Highlights: http://www1.skysports.com/watch/vid...909/man-utd-2-1-sunderland-(1-2-on-penalties)
Haven't seen the game yet (maybe I new will!) -- 1) Is Moyes trying to get fired and then collect aaaaaaaalllllllllllll that money? 2) Are the players trying to get rid of Moyes?
This defeat ... really hurts. Not so much going out the Carling Cup, but the manner of the defeat again. The pens and possession stats in particular. How appropriate that the two who blasted over the bar were the English lads? Jones & Welbeck must be prepping for the World Cup. The possession stats for a home tie against a team near the bottom were just embarrassing again. Our "bad luck" and "individual errors" are consequences of the opposition having far too much of the ball. For these players to be giving the ball away so cheaply for so many games means there is definitely some tactical / comms breakdown between the manager/coaches and the players. Welbeck & Cheech just look lost without Wayne or RvP around them. Very disappointed in both. Across the two games there were enough chances to beat Sunderland even given the way we performed. By and large, Moyes is saying the right things at the press conferences afterwards in terms of words. However there is a lack of inspiration there that seems to be transmitting itself to the players. On the plus side, with RvP and Rooney coming back (hopefully at least one of them for the next games) and with a possible Mata signing, I have to believe that we have hit the floor and things can only get better from here on.
These players are not inspired at all. It's pathetic. And hearing their manager tell them to sit on a 1 goal lead during the game instead of going for another goal in the 2nd half of regular time can't help - I can't obviously state that happened, but it seemed obvious as Sunderland looked vastly better in the 2nd half. Our entire season hinges on essentially whatever RvP and Rooney can conjure up whenever they are back, and Mata if that happens.
We're on the path to Scousedom.....waiting for our "Come back when you've won 21 " banner to go up.....instead of King Kenny we've got Dickhead Davie....
Dealing with a death in the family, I hadn't noticed that Fletch was back. And converting one of the 3 PKs! Glad to see him back in action. So maybe there is some hope for your midfield???
Didn't see the PK's but just read who took them and I really don' t understand why some players were even considered. I don't be at the training grounds or anything to know how good Jones, Rafael & Welbeck are at taking them. If I had the chance to select the kickers none of the 3 would have even come to my mind
