Whether it's Baines or someone else is almost inconsequential, you can't have a defender who is supposed to be a leader playing like he doesn't give a shit.

Welcome to the last 2-3 seasons. His defending, which has never been his strength, has progressively gotten worse as his physical attributes have reduced with age. He should have been long gone but alas not and his little goal scoring spurt does little to compensate.

 

You don't have a comparable standing, not in the last ten years. Van Persie won more premier leagues in one year with United than he did in eight years with Arsenal. And he only won one premier league. Which says it all about Arsenal and trophies.

Yeah, Evra has been poor, but he's been trying at least in many other games. This game he looked like he thought other people were the defenders. He literally watched as two Chelsea players were free almost in the six yard box. I kind of expect it from Rafael now, but Evra is supposed to be one of the captains. I don't know if the Baines/Coentrao rumours have unsettled him, or if his head's at Monaco/PSG, but his attitude reeks of not giving a shit.
