Well it depends on your own personal definition of consistent. Sorry I guess I should have said "100% of the time" Anways, this is getting off topic
Jozy sees very little of the ball at Sunderland mainly because the team's midfield sucks. When Sunderland does get into the final 3rd his team rarely looks for him and reverts into very selfish football. It's been getting better, but still pretty dreadful play from Sunderland these days.
Nice hold up play by Altidore in today's victory against ManU. He's improved on the aerials even winning a long one towards the end. S'land are slowly getting better organized. 4 wins 2 draws and 1 loss in the last 7 across all competitions.
So, Altidore wins a penalty while Adam Johnson romps. Kind of a shame they didn't have Altidore take it. It will take scoring some goals for a forward to cement his place.
Letting Jozy get the goal would have been nice cause he earned it but you don't stop your teammate from the hat trick and even without the goal he just needs to start playing better to get more minutes in general. The team is starting to do better if he gets minutes he will find the net.
Screwed the pooch on a nice dummy by Johnson for what would have been a likely goal. Wasn't as strong in the air this time out but was involved in the build up to the last two goals. Dempsey needs to pick it up.
Yup...can't say I'm not completely worried about Altidore but I'm for sure more worried about Dempsey. I don't think him and Jones' spots are guaranteed in the starting 11
Said this a while ago. A slump is only temporary when you come out of it. He has yet to show any signs of that.
I personally will not be concerned with Altidore, Dempsey or anyone until I see how they play in USA Kits. If they look flat in March and in May... ... then I will consider the "team without ___" bandwagon that seems to be forming with pitch forks and torches. Until then I say just relax.
Really? At this point in time we just have to live and die with whatever Dempsey we get. Simply there is not one else with his track record available to the team. Altidore has already been benched been by Klinsi for poor performances and he lacks Dempsey's track record.
I am leaning toward this way of thinking. Dempsey is truly one of the only players on the team who could score at anytime, from any angle from any distance. And when he shoots he sometimes has a scorers lucky bounce as we saw against England.
Dempsey has 1 goal since June the 2nd which was a fairly simple flick from ~6 yrds out. His other goal was a really bad PK that should have been saved and that's it. According to Fulham's radio he "didn't look like the old Clint Dempsey" vs. Norwhich in the FA Cup, and really did nothing last week. As of this moment I'd rather see AJ start over Dempsey. However, that can all change if Dempsey bags three goals by the end of his loan. I think it's clear that 3 players really need to step things up: Jozy (despite the circumstances, he's got to do better) Dempsey Jones
I agree, but there was none of that in over his 900+ minutes played with Seattle...and that's versus MLS competition
Well club slumps don't always translate to the National team. Too many different factors and variables that go into it such as coaching, teammates, service, chemistry etc.
Dempsey hasn't played well at all for the USMNT since June the 2nd so it seems to be correlating. I know it's tough to accept (it's tough for me too cause I'm a fan) but I think it's pretty evident he's past his prime.
Well, Altidore went through a funk too. He got out of it with a great string of goals. I am hoping the same applies to Dempsey.
Sure? but when someone only scores once in over 1,000+ mins for club or country since June the 2nd and he's considered one of your better players I think that's cause for concern and raises some red flags...Thing is with Jozy we weren't playing to his strengths and we even had a stretch of time we were playing with three DM's...hell we put Sacha on the wing. Now we know how to play to his style and he's done well for us.
