Former Galaxy/Chicago Jorge Campos clearly stole the show yesterday at the all star game. Campos showed to all of us that his skills are intact. I know he is retired, but I think that a team like Chivas USA or Salt Lake City could use him even to sell him as an attaction. Attendance went up in the league when Campos was playing. When i was living in New York, i record going to Giant Stadium and seeing hundreds of mexicans. After he left, I never saw those fans again. Should the league give him another chance?

Will he play as well? Will MLS have to give him another Ferrari?

I'd rather see guys like Zach Wells improve.

Maybe as a mascot. And instead of a nice exotic sports card, the league should give him a Honda Civic coupe, where he designs the custom paint job.

Maybe as some kind of executive but not as a player. I'm thinking he worked with the Mexican NT as some kind of coach so he could probably handle working in the front office for Chivas USA or some other club.

Or, get a beat up Civic and then send it to Pimp My Ride where they'll put 18" Giovannas and a Playstation 2 that's hooked up to one of the ten 17" LCD screens that are either on the headrest or on the trunck.

    lol

wwwaaaooooo, From a Ferrari to a second hand Honda Civic that he will need to do the custom paint job. He would rather work at Mcdonalds or a Taqueria or Mexican restaurant.

How were these Mexicans "fans" if they never came back?

They could be fans of HIS maybe?

As for signing him, I don't think so. It was nice to see him playing again, and to see that he still has that smooth style to his game, but the man is retired. Let him stay retired. We have more than enough talented 'keepers in the US as it is. A front office position with Chivas USA would be very cool though.

Are we going to have a new player classification? Senior Citizen International?

lol, about bringing back Walter Zenga or El Pibe Valderrama?. OHhhh wait, is Pele still available?. Just joking. What to do with Campos?. How I think Campos could help the league. Well, In Mexico Campo was viewed as a "merchandise" and as a talented goalie. At the end of his career, he was just a marketing product. For some weird reasons, Campos attracts fans to the stands. Mexican and even non-mexican like me like to watch Campos playing. I'm just saying, Pele was like 40 when he came out of retirement. Lothar was about to get retire. Walter Zenga came to finish his career here and so forth. My point is a team like Chivas USA could use him as a coach/player or as a coach. He is getting experience right now working with the Mexican National team. So, he is learning. He motivates other players and Chivas can just benefit from him. Even as a coach, people would go and see him. Can we talk business with Campos?

Yes of course. Campos was el hombre. In my opinion, which isn't valued by a lot of people, Jorge Campos was better than Zack Thornton. Either way, I would definitely love to see Jorge in MLS competition again.

Also, why would MLS sign a player who said that soccer wasn't played when the US beat Mexico this season in front of thousands of Mexico fans?

    You're just saying nonsense.

Pele was born in 1940. His first retirement was in 1974, at age 33. When he came out of "retirement," he was 34. He really stopped playing professional soccer for good at the end of the 1977 season, just before his 37th birthday.

Campos may have looked okay against a bunch of guys who haven't trained for a professional game in years, but there's not a team in MLS who would improve because he was on the field.

    No.

Letting fellow retirees Eric Wynalda and Hugo Perez score goals on you will not get you on an MLS roster.

Forget drawing people who like Campos. Let's draw people to MLS by putting a better product on the field. Campos showed nothing in the tribute game yesterday that would indicate he could raise the level of play in the MLS.

Sure, just to be Josh Wolff's b!tch again :D

And, the Fire's attendence was HIGHER in games played by Zach Thornton vs. Jorge Compost.

And Zach Thornton won out the 'keeper job by the playoffs, and Bradley told Compost to take a hike.

    Why waste an SI slot?

Maybe, but Zach Thornton handed Campos his ass on a platter.

Anyone else remember the "We Want Zach" from Section 8 after Campos howlers?

The Zach vs. Campos caged match. I'd watch that. Zack would throw campos like he threw Guevara. :)

Why would he want to? During Copa America he was the assistant coach for Mexico. They played impressively beating Argentina, and despite the butt-whipping at the hands of Brazil the team looks promising for the world cup competition

Campos, at 37, is old but not that old.

Just think of how well David Seaman played at WC 2002 when he was 38! ;)

    True Story.

One of the kids I coached a 'long' time ago dad, Chris Brown, worked as the radar gun operator in Soldier Field during Fire games. His job was to record the speed of the shot for the MLS 'PowerShot' graphic for each goal.

Anyways, Compost was in goal and he was redefining suck every minute. A ball came bouncing in towards the goal. Francis Okaroh chested it back towards Compost, but Jorge was WAY out of position, and the ball rolled in for a goal. Chris dutifully recorded the 'PowerShot'.

    2 Miles per Hour.

Zach has chunks in his stools bigger than Compost.
