Would be great for Davis, not so great for Pepperdine. Wondering...where/who did this info come from?
Chris Tinius is a finalist at Murray. He was a finalist at Tenn Tech this year, and Jax St and Eastern Kentucky last year, seems he has an affinity toward the OVC.
It will be a huge shock. I spoke to a player and they never heard a thing about that doesn't mean it is not true but there are no appealing jobs for him. He was also recruiting at the ECNL event in Florida
i for one hope murray passes as well and goes after someone from a tradition of success. tinius really doesnt have the resume for a head coaching job yet and imho should spend time assisting a high quality coach in a quality program. tech went after springthorpe for good reason. but we have all seen head scratchers in hiring!
The person who posted that said it was a rumor. However, The Houston Dynamo MLS team has entered a women's pro team in the NWSL (Houston Dash) in the past few weeks. Waldrum is from Texas. I would not be surprised if his name has been brought up for the Head Coach job and/or even offered the job. But we don't know anything yet for sure.
Has anyone else noticed the slipshod ways that the coaching changes are handled on many of the school web sites? The worst one is New Mexico State which does not appear to have any news item that announce the departure of Blair Quinn and the elevation of Freddy Delgado to Interim Head Coach. On the 2013 Coaches page Delgado has simply replaced Quinn while the 2014 Coaches page is blank. So it seems Quinn has been purged and casual viewers of the site will associate Delgado with the 2013 performance of the team. Only by examining the individual game reports can you find any reference to Quinn. One wonders if Quinn resigned, was promoted, was fired or vaporized by the Roswell UFO aliens.
My short list if I am the AD. Also might be interesting convo as many of the legends of the game have been doing it a while. As the premier jobs in the country open, who will these programs target? 1. Adair- Virginia Tech. If you can get him you do. He's young and just took a historically avg program to the Final 4. 2. Izzo-Brown- WVU. She's done wonders at WVU. Lots have pursued, none have attracted. Probably a long shot. 3. Roeders- Marquette. Catholic school success. 4. Da Luz- Wake Forest. Would be a home run. Hasn't left yet. Probably won't. 5. Hale-Arkansas. Red hot reputation right now. Most gettable of the group. 6. Nolan- Georgetown. My odds on favorite. His name is mentioned regularly. Catholic school. 7. Lipsitz- Kentucky. Total rebuild at Kentucky 8. Sanchez- Colorado. Would be a great story working his way up through the ranks from D2 to mid major to CU to premier job in the country. Who am I missing?
Good starting list devad. Adair would make the most sense to me with being in the ACC and what he has done. But does the ACC have a rule where you cannot hire away another coach in the same conference? I feel like that rule exists but perhaps it is just a football thing. Nolan and Roeders would be fantastic options too. I don't think there are very many good female coaches, but the few would get a look. Rayfield at Illinois is a solid coach in the Midwest. Foley at Boston College has done well at a Catholic school, but is in the ACC and carries some baggage. Walsh at Penn State would be worth a look too. Will be interesting to see how it works and how the coaching carousel revolves as this is obviously a big one.
wow, unbelievable news out of notre dame! i sure understand the move...being near grandkids is the best and a new challenge. who is succeeding under less than ideal situation...that is who i think nd will look at. add nd's attraction and resources, well it's a win-win. izzo-brown has brought talent to wvu in spite of bad access and horrid weather, but she sure has admin worship there. who else might be out there "getting it done" at a high evel but slightly under the radar?
Assuming this was a joke???? She went 4-8-1 and was outscored 10- 29 in the ACC. Same team Anganost took to the NCAA's. Other names are good, 1. Feldman- She is from Mass and not sure she's leaving. Also winning in ACC is much different than winning in the America East. 2. Jobson- won big at religious institution. Do administration care or even know about style of play? 3. Stone- pretty sure Colorado got him a big raise and extension. Not sure he'd leave but he would win. My candidates: 1. Lipsitz- shown his class at every step of his career from asst at OSU, to HC at Charlotte to SEC. Hasn't made a run in the NCAA but Drawing UCLA every year may have something to do with that. Seems to be able to recruit, has been in that region, and is the right age. 2. Nolan- Catholic school success and apparently wants out of Georgetown. Elite 8 run and consistency of success to pair with academic and catholic school experience might make him the right guy. 3. Jobson- has taken a downtrodden program to an Elite 8. Has strong northern ties. Her name is frequently mentioned and deservedly so. Would win but not leaving- Adair, Izzo-Brown, Roeders, DaLuz, Stone Darhorses- 1. Hale- was important part of UCF's Elite 8 run beating ND nemesis UNC in the process. Taking Arkansas to Sweet 16 tying Duke has sky-rocketed his stock. Too young? 2. Sanchez- one of the few stars who has worked his way up from D2 national championship, to mid-major to BCS success. Recent Sweet 16 validates Sanchez as as a big stage star.
That's funny. In all seriousness, in all the posts in a few forums, there've been at least 15-20 candidates mentioned. This is Notre Dame and, now, the ACC. The pool is very small and a lot of names mentioned would be more then welcomed by the other ACC programs. But it does add to the drama throwing out crazy names.
How about Tiffany Roberts (Sahaydak) at Central Florida!? She has done a great job taking over for Cromwell! Won Championships and was COY in her first season at UCF. Must be one of the top females out there.
Jobson at Notre Dame would be more than hilarious. I would love to see Anson's reaction the first time one of Notre Dame's players totally blew up one of UNC's players.
A couple of words on what does it mean for Notre Dame in this article: http://espn.go.com/espnw/news-comme...otre-dame-coach-randy-waldrum-makes-dash-nwsl This is the best line: No coach is going to win like Waldrum won at Notre Dame, in part because he is a gifted, driven soccer mind but also because he wasn't going to win that way in the ACC. It's a great job but also a dangerous job. About female coaches - How come no one mentions Carin Jennings-Gabarra at Navy? Shes pretty rooted in Annapolis but the husband went all the way to Jersey to coach. And Shackford at Princeton? Feldman, Rayfield mentioned already. Point is, if they wanted a good female, they are out there. Tiffany Roberts is only half a coach since her husband runs the team. I think that set-up has some risks ND may not want. MF Monroe may be a joke to some but there is a "good old girls" network out there and she's in it. A reference from Ellis/Heinrichs and those types has some weight and interesting that she beat ND 2-0 this year. My money is on Nolan. I think the selective Catholic school experience counts for something and he's all business and will be viewed as more of a "sure thing" or long term solution, imho. If he's been out there looking, his resume is ready and they could get this done by signing day easy.
