They Marco as one of the 3 candidates but i wonder who the other 2 are. Should it be assumed that it just goes to him? Not sure how I feel about this. A little concerned will just stay the same.......
Here's part one of the transcription of today's very hastily held phone call. Wondering who everyone is willing to bet are options #2 and #3? Also, I think there's some good responses from Fernando to be read here. Especially the "we learned from that" part concerning older, injured players.
I think Marco is the best person for this environment. With that said, I think this coaching search has somewhat confirm the notion how unattractive this job is for any decent candidate. FCD must be on page 2 of their candidate list.
I would like to know....it seems strange he would mention Marco but no one else. I wonder if they are just blowing smoke. Although, maybe the rest of the call could shed light???
Now we can add Jeff Cassar to the group list of former Burn players who are employed as head coaches by other teams in the league. And hey, it didn't take RSL months to hire him. It's amazing what'll happen when your team's ownership and management isn't always tripping over the clown shoes that they're wearing.
And BTW, this has long passed the point of "being a goddamned embarrassment." Our ownership jerked off for weeks and in the end is going to appoint a guy to the job that was already on the payroll.
I don't think FCD are slacking. It just look like a lot of people are passing on this job. Or maybe low-ball offers just don't come across well. Reputations are a funny thing.
I personally think they were trying for some "home runs." (GBS, waiting for Kreis, etc.) With those all failing, they'll probably go with Ferruzzi. And you know what? I'm fine with it. No reason to re-hash a Tommy Soehn. Here we just had Montreal fire their coach and hire a guy that led Chicago to a lower place in the standings. [Klopas] Now that's one that makes even less sense than what FCD has done.
So who else is left? Ferruzzi obviously and perhaps Steve Ralston as he hasn't publicly said no. There supposedly is three so is the last one the California college coach that played for Schellas? Anyone else have a guess of the two mystery candidates? Oh, wait can't be the college guy because they said they were looking for MLS experience. Maybe one of my favorites has a chance ... Leonel Alvarez?
Wouldn't surprise me if it's a "mystery guest." Robin Fraser, or somebody of that ilk. They've been so secretive that it wouldn't shock me if guys have interviewed that we don't know about.
So it's down to us and Chivas who still have coach openings to fill. Seems like a bad thing to be in a group of 2 with Chivas for anything.
Ummmmmmmmmmm...........................not so fast my friend. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1657396/fc-dallas-pursuing-rapids-oscar-pareja-sources?cc=5901 FC Dallas has embarked on another attempt to make Colorado Rapids manager Oscar Pareja its next head coach, multiple sources have told ESPNFC.com. Sources this week said Pareja is willing to listen to Dallas offers, despite dismissing them earlier, and sources say Colorado seems resigned to the possibility of losing Pareja.
This is about the only outcome to this situation that I can see now that would justify the long wait. Please let this happen...
413764108438093825 is not a valid tweet id 413764176398389248 is not a valid tweet id Man, that's a classic non-denial denial if I ever saw one.
Why do we want Pareja, again? He's had two years of MLS experience, and those two years have been bad (2012) and just-barely-mediocre (2013). OK, so it's the CRapids front office and roster he's having to deal with up there, but is our situation here any better? Sure, he's one of "our people," but I expect greater things in a head coach. If all we ever ask for is mediocrity, all we'll ever get is mediocrity. What's Alex Ferguson up to these days? Dallas isn't a bad place to retire.
Colorado had few players that fir his style, FCD has more so the turnover wouldn't be as high. I don't expect a team to improve immediately but have young players getting better. Rapids are set for few years at least now and have a bunch of good young players. Oscar is doing there what Jason did at RSL - setting them up to be good for years. Why wouldn't we want that here with the guy who played, coached and set up the Academy?
Pretty amazing Clavijo/Hunt are going into Christmas week without having secured a head coach. I know in the end it's more important they get "the right" head coach as opposed to making a hasty decision but still, time's a-wastin'.
Well, we're not a desirable enough destination to go out and poach the most successful coaches in the league - Jason Kreis, Caleb Porter, Peter Vermes, Bruce Arena, etc. aren't going to want to come here from their present situations. Pareja has a quite successful season last year. When confronted with a bunch of injuries, he responded by successfully integrating many young players into the Rapids roster - Dillon Powers, Chris Klue, DeShorn Brown, Shane O'Neill, Clint Irwin. He plays an attractive style. He's got a long history with our organization, with the Hunts really value. He knows our youth academy very well, and is dedicated to development. He seems like a good guy. If you have any real suggestions that you think are better than Pareja, please throw them out there. Alex Ferguson is not going to come here, sorry.
Pareja would be a knock it out of the park hire. I don't have my hopes too high, for fear of disappointment. You know how badly it will suck for Pareja to kick our @SS year after year, when he could have been ours?
Every time we meet them in the playoffs? I sorta have the opinion here that we were on the verge of naming a coach a week ago. We had narrowed the list down to three, had interviewed them all, and just needed to make a decision. But then for some reason the chance to get Pareja re-appeared all of a sudden. So that's led to a delay as we see what we'd need to do to bring him here. When you read Hunt's checklist of what they were looking for, Pareja ticks every box. I would send Colorado cash plus multiple first round draft picks for Oscar. With our academy the way it is, those homegrown signings are the equivalent of draft picks.
