The contrast between our situation and Orlando's is so depressing. I'm no expert in DC politics, but with Grey viewed as vulnerable it's hard to believe that City Council will support his plan for a SSS.
That is why they are the Magic Kingdom. And, we are perhaps, the tragic kingdom...at least with getting the stadium built.
The biggest deciding factor is the relative value of land in DC versus Orlando. Compared to DC, land to build on is plentiful in Orlando.
Especially since they play in such a great stadium. All the other cities want a multi-purpose stadium like ours.
Because RFK is a multi-purpose stadium I think the Washington Darts are really going to take off. Soccer is the future.
I just moved there and I'm not sure what you're talking about. There has already been redevelopment, more is underway, and more is planned for the future. This is already a diverse neighborhood, with plenty of white people, along with people of other ethnic and racial backgrounds.
Either you can't read, don't understand sarcasm or both. That was harsh. If you have no idea of the history of the DC area, Potowmack's post would be a mystery to you.
People said they were daft to build a stadium in a swamp, but they built it anyway....and it sank into the swamp. So they built another one.....and that one sank into the swamp. But they built another one, and that one stayed up!
Potowmack was responding to my quote "Welcome to 1970" and in 1970 it was a ridiculous idea to think of white people wanting to move into the U St neighborhood.
shades of 60-90 days... http://www.washingtonpost.com/local...c706-56f1-11e3-835d-e7173847c7cc_story_1.html
Revs fans have the infamous quote about our mythical "12-24 months" timeline. Would much rather 60-90 days! Seems like DCU has s good plan, now if only the politics were easier.
Very interesting. I highly doubt this will directly impact the stadium deal, but the people have a very reasonable case. Why further gentrify the area with luxury developments when other uses would be more beneficial?
As a resident of the U-Street Neighborhood where the Reeves Center is located I agree, more office space would be nice for the area. I'd rather not have this place turn into Adams Morgan. It's great how it is now.
