Nope, I conceded he had a good December (which hadn't been the case prior to last year). But his struggles in elimination games continued last year and he turned the ball over with a chance to win in the most important Dec game. I guess we will see what he does in the final two games. He has no excuse not to do well against my pathetic Redskins. He'll be facing a defense that is just as bad as his own.
Well there is truth there - it definitely is a mark against him. But in games like today, or the loss to the Broncos earlier in the year, I just find it hilarious how some (I know you didn't off your 1st or 2nd post, but it'll be the narrative of the week in general) love to claim he single handedly cost them the win. Steelers win, Auria will be fingering his bum with joy (I -hope- he gets the reference ) and I should've been asleep hours ago. Damn it NFL, you've done it to me again... why can't you have the crap games on late!
It's hard to say, but he said this past week that he felt like he had a good chance to start. I'd say, with this week of rest and more starter's reps, and given the importance of these next two games, that he has a really good chance to go on Sunday.
Man, did Cincinnati only have tape of Rothlisberger's rookie year or something? You show him the safety blitz like that, he'll hit behind it near every time these days...
He's no world beater, but he's held the fort for just long enough for Rodgers to assume his role as arguably the best QB in the NFL. The 2nd Romo INT was his fault. The receiver checked his run because he recognized the safety, Williams, had him out wide by the sideline so the receiver he gave himself and the QB more space to make the throw. Romo didn't recognize that and so threw it wide. A smart QB recognizes that event and adjusts accordingly. Despite that, you have to give credit to Williams for making that amazing interception. Romo also optioned out of the run on that play (the scheme was designed for the run, but Romo opted out after the ball was hiked). Most of the blame for the Cowboys' loss should fall on the shoulders of Jason Garrett and his offensive coordinator, who inexplicably strayed from the run when Demarco Murray was jamming it down Green Bay's throats all day.
Guys I'm in a bit of a pickle here, I don't have X-Max money founds for this year. I really need to hit this weeks parlay picks. Give me advise and reasons why the teams will cover the Spread in week 16. Eagles game screwed me on week 15 and really don't want to fall into another trap game this week. Is this the right thread for this post? Anyone know some Against The Spread forums?
I'll give you the second one, but the first one was totally on Romo. He changed the run play at the line of scrimmage, he didn't throw it immediately like the play called for, and then he made an ill-advised throw. He should have made a safer throw if he was going to throw that or throw it away. But I blame the coaching for that loss. When you are averaging 7 yards a carry only the dumbest coaches throw close to 50 time. If I were Jerry Jones I would have fired Garrett after that game and then I would have remembered that I'm the problem.
Jerry has said he'd fire himself if he were just the GM. Garrett won't be fired until after the season. They've carried along with Garrett for way too long as it is.
Yeah - true. I read an article on Grantland that puts most of the blame on the defense which is certainly fair. Which brings us back to the GM.... Hopefully he does fire himself.
You have to wonder why Rob Ryan is having success in New Orleans and couldn't have the same sort of success while he was in Dallas. I'll repeat what I've heard Cowboys' fans say these last two years -- besides safety, they have the talent. They have two very good pass rushers, athletic LBs, stout DL and "talented" CBs. So what exactly is the issue that is holding this group back? Why is Rob Ryan having success in NO? Those are the million dollar questions IMO.
I think he was probably decent in Dallas and was scapegoated for the season to distract from the fact that the coach is a milksop and the GM is an idjit. The problem is the culture sucks - which starts at the top. As Colin Cowherd has been hammering home lately - smart teams make smart decisions.

Cue the 'Stafford is such a choke artist' talk. No? No? Because they were two easy picks, the one at about 5:30 in the 4th quarter especially. I'm not complaining though, what a f***ing kick!
Seattle's about as far as you can get from a media market and still be in the continental USA. Russ Wilson's probably somewhere behind Dennis Johnson and Shawn Kemp in terms of longtime name recognition. Kurt Cobain is still the most recognized name from that area. OTOH, the Dallas Cowboys are maybe the most deliberately marketed team in USA sports. We're now at the point where their fans (and even some of the fans of teams that hated them when they were relevant) expect daily info on Romo. If you ever get a Nielsen box, you can be part of the solution.
My fantasy team would be extremely thankful, although I have the opposing QB in that game as well who doesn't have a bad matchup.
2006 Playoffs @ SEA - Tony Romo DAL 17 29 189 1 0 (and a costly fumble) 2007 Playoffs vs. NYG - Tony Romo DAL 18 36 201 1 1 (50% and a pick. Big game Tony, eh? He had the ball in his hands at the end of the game and couldn't lead them to points.) 2008 Week 17 @ PHI - Tony Romo DAL 21 39 183 0 1 (big game Tony with a pick. Was the D garbage? Yes. Tony couldn't move the ball though. The winner decided who went to the playoffs.) 2009 Playoffs vs PHI - Tony Romo DAL 23 35 244 2 0 (Here's the exception. A good game by Tony and his only playoff win) Playoffs @ MIN - Tony Romo DAL 22 35 198 0 1 (See a trend here? Where are those gaudy numbers he was putting up with the same set of players? Another pick, sub 200 yard day.) 2010 Injured 2011 Week 17 v. NYG - Tony Romo DAL 29 37 289 2 1 (Decent day, but turned the ball over twice -- 1 pick and a fumble. Had they won, they would have made the playoffs.) 2012 Week 17 @ WAS - Tony Romo DAL 20 37 218 2 3 (Dug Dallas in a hole with two early INT. His third INT was late and sealed the game. Big game Tony shows up when it counts. Another mediocre performance and a playoff spot lost.) Conclusion? Tony chokes in almost every elimination game. You can't even make an argument that he had a good individual effort and his team failed him. He's a very good QB in Sept-Nov, but when the game REALLY matters, he fails.
That wasn't just a fumble. He muffed the hold on a chip shot field goal as time expired. He has never completely gotten over that.
And that's 99% of my point. If Romo played for the Chiefs or the Seahawks we wouldn't know who he is. Couple that with dating a starlet and you have the makings of a celebrity, not a QB. Put Tony in Buffalo and he would have been out of the league 3 years ago.
