What a bizarre ending to SNF. Amateurism on the part of the refs and receivers.

The 90s Denver Broncos Coaching Tree's of Gary Kubiak and Mike Shanahan is coming to a crashing plummet into the ground.

OH yeah, RG3 should have went the DRose route.

That's the worst call I've ever seen in any sport - I can't even think of a comparison. I reckon Snyder would be well, well within his rights to take legal action (or possibly Shanahan if/when he gets the boot).

As much as I agree that it was horrific, if Garcon holds onto the ball on the next play, that ref screw-up ends up being a mere footnote in the game.

That is true yes, but they don't go for that play on second down with about 1:30 left.

Some team around 1990 won a college football game by scoring on 5th down, and IIRC they won the national championship as a result.

Maybe it was Colorado the year they split it with Georgia Tech.

That blown call was basically insult to injury. Even if the right call was made, chances are we don't score a touchdown anyways. The refs basically kicked us while we were down. Completely unnecessary. Let us lose "naturally."

Ironically, last week in Baltimore, the Jets got an unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty called against them because one of the coaches was in the white area and interfered with the official's movement in the area.

Good thing we got rid of the replacement refs. These "pro" refs are so much better:laugh:

    Ok, that's worse. :p

I've been mesmerised though since I saw it - with the nature of downs, I can't even think of another sport where it is possible to make this bad a call. What really mazes me is that nobody really contested the first down - the Giants were too focused on the next play, and moving the chains 6 inches in the first place is something that wouldn't have garnered too much attention even if the refs had stuck with it and the Redskins had hypothetically moved down the field to get the TD.

It wasn't exactly a call, but I was at a Rockies game once where all the fielders and umpires came off the field after out number two... the only guy in the game who had it right was the guy on deck.

And I've seen a guy walked on ball three and one struck out on strike four...

Yeah, but that's still not as bad in my mind. A footballing equivalent would probably have to involve giving something and then taking it away - like sending a guy off then allowing him back on after he opposition had made attack-heavy subs in response, leaving them lopsided.

The most unforgivable thing isn't getting it wrong in my mind, it is giving it then taking it away after the fact.

"Although Colorado was allowed to keep the win, Louderback and his entire crew were suspended indefinitely following the contest"

It's harsh, but that's also a fitting punishment - that really does constitute gross misconduct in a way that a typical bad call doesn't.

Seattle looks like the probable NFC champion. No one can win there.

$100K??? I know the League used to get its jollies fining James Harrison even before he went to the Bengals and became a loose cannon, but Harrison could have hit Peyton Manning with a baseball bat and not been fined six figures. Wild. I guess they call themselves "sending a message"...

I think it's justified - sends out a message, as you said. And let's not play around here, it's not like you're the Patriots or anything. Can't expect to be getting away with that stuff. :p

He all but admitted he did it on purpose.

You are lucky you didn't lose the draft picks they were talking about.

I get that, but I never expected the League to be so transparent in their favoritism. I don't recall any talk of draft picks when Videochick was winning championships by filming walkthroughs. I guess tainted titles don't bother them too much...

(Hear the mating cry of the Midwestern Butthurt Seahawk in 4... 3... 2... ) maybe this is your season, @stanger. You could win two titles in the span of a month or so, a developmental one if tOSU is worth the dirt they get on their uniforms and an NFL World Championship if everything falls into place for Russell Goodhair & co.

I did laugh when I heard you of all people talk about tainted titles.;)

And yes, I think this could be a very memorable football season for me. Looks like it could be either Brady or Manning in the SB. Hope they don't announce their retirement before the SB so the NFL sees fit to have them win one more like Bettis.

I wasn't surprised the Seahawks won on Monday but I was surprised at how easy they made it look. They basically ran the clock out for the entire second half. If they hold on to home field throughout the playoffs, I don't see anyone in the NFC that can go up there and beat them.
