For the sake of argument, if Octavio gets the ax, who does the team look to hire to replace him.

IMO, the best person out there is Dave Sarachan and becuase of his connections to DC United, he has a relationship with Kevin Payne, which will make a big deal. (It also happens that Sarachan has a nice resume as an assistant.)

    If not Sarachan, who?

Mooch Myernick is a Jersey guy and he made the playoffs all 4 years he was with the Rapids and he made it to the finals of both MLS and the Open Cup. He's currently with the U23 team but he might give up the Olympics for a chance to coach in MLS again.

Upstate, there's Rhinos coach Pat Ercoli, who has won 3 A-League titles (and finished second twice) and the Open Cup (and finished second once). Is it worth taking a chance on an A-League guy who is a proven winner?

In the college ranks, there's Ray Reid of UConn and St. John's Dave Masur, both of whom are already in the TriState area and both of whom have won an NCAA title and are highly regarded. And Virginia's Geroge Gelnovatch (who will get good reccomendations to Payne) is a Jersey guy who might be ready to make the jump.

As for MLS assistants, former Metro Brian Bliss has paid his dues for a couple years, as has former Metro assistant Ralph Perez, who has been in the league since Day 1.

That's a good start for some candidates. I'd like to hear folks' thougts on the above list and throw out some other names.

they should hire me i would forgive mathis for that red card, but if something like addo did against columbus back in july if it wasn't mathis, Diallo, Faria, Davis, Hoawrd, Petke, Lisi, Paule, or Jolley, that person would never see giants stadium until they play their as an openent :D

I always thought Ralph Perez should have gotten the job a while ago, he did last through several coaching changes and knew how the hell the team should have played.....

    Then there's always Steve Sampson....

Ralph Perez is an excellent choice to follow OZ. Other mentions are Paul Riley(Led RoughRiders to D3 Champs) Clive Charles(US World Cup Asst and Olympic Coach) and Wolfgang Sunholz(former U17 USA Coach, former NASLer and played a big part in developing the likes of Landon Donovan and Demarcus Beasley). OZ must go! His substitutions in the second to last game versus DC proves everything. When the chips fall, OZ goes over the edge defensivley. Strategically and Tactically OZ cannot deliver attacking football. Time and time again we have blown one goal leads by OZ pulling the plug on the atttack to soon.
