Is Bira a former player? He spoke perfect English and had excellent pronunciation for all the Brazilian names.
Not Juan Arango? Didn't see the match just a guess or George D. Metallus? He's pretty good with name pronunciation when he does the Brazil highlights show.
I think Bira lived in the US for a bit. I follow him on Twitter. Ask him. Here is his twitter account: https://twitter.com/Bira_Brasil Jon (pitaco do gringo) btw is from Australia. Here is blog.
GOL-TV has just signed a deal to show 1 Swiss Super League match per round in the US & Canada. Details to follow. SA www.soccertvblog.com
They need to sublicense some european games, either the Portuguese or beg bein to buy them out, but now without the Bundesliga, they are done.
According to this article the deal is for three seasons beginning with the current 2013-14 season. http://www.sportbusiness.com/tv-sports-markets/swiss-super-league-scores-coverage-americas-goltv
GOL TV don't have any Brasileirao games on their schedule for this weekend according to their website and Directv guide. Seems kind of weird, with it being final round and all.
http://nextvlatam.com/goltv-questioned-the-bidding-for-south-american-soccer-tv-rights/?lang=en Also, this is an interesting read. I know it applies to South American arm of Gol TV, but interesting to see how hard they are trying to get Copa Liberatadores rights down there.
So anyone hear anything about why no Brazil or Argentinian leagues this week? Someone forget to pay a bill? Spent too much on Swiss Super League?
It looks like the top 4 teams are playing there games next weekend and somehow it ended up where they play each other on last match day. Not sure how that ended up or why those 2 games were pushed back a week. Maybe goltv is choosing to air one of those games next weekend rather than wasting their round 19 game on a meaningless Boca or River game. Disappearance of final round of Brasileirao though is real bizarre though.
The fact that they are playing each other on the last match day is by chance -- lucky coincidence. The two games were pushed back since the other games were meaningless so with those two games the only games, everyone can tune in on the games which will decide the championship or at least decide which teams enter the final playoff (no goal difference in Argentina -- if level on points decided by a final or a mini-league if more than two teams).
Actually, the games were pushed back because Lanús, one of the 4 teams with chances of winning the league, are also Sudamericana Cup finalists and AFA (Arg fed) grants the club the right to push back league games if they ask to, so they don't have to use subs or play with no rest when playing the competitions final stages. And because of that, the other match is also pushed back. Cause the games involving and deciding the league's champion must be played on the same day at the same hour. The fact that the 4 teams involved are playing each other is just a crazy coincidence. BTW, Lanús is coached by Guillermo Barros Schelotto, you may know him from when he played in MLS.
GOL-TV will have the Vélez Sarsfield v San Lorenzo match LIVE @ 4pm ET on Sunday.... Newell's v Lanús will be on TyCSports. Same kickoff time. SA www.soccertvblog.com
The way it looks probably not since it's not even in the regular sports pack. We need Fox Deportes and GolTV in HD then I'd be set.
They couldn't even be bothered this week to release their TV schedule - their website only lists the live matches, and they apparently didn't provide the schedule to Tribune Media Services and other cable guide info providers since all I see today are generic listings. Had to record the 12:30 Bundesliga match over three time slots since it didn't match up.
I know im looking for a replay of the bayern match and I have no idea when that will occur . What a mess!
