He'd certainly be an upgrade for us but where did you see the rumor that we're interested?

I think Marco Pappa would be a great addition. He always struck me as a dangerous player.

Daigo Kobayashi is available now after having his option declined by Vancouver. I would love him in New York.

Oh and Brad Rusin is available now. Good back-up option for a team with potentially 2 over 30 starting CBs.

Marco Pappa would be very interesting.

Pass on Kobayashi. He was very disappointing in Vancouver and for the type of money he would command I think we could do better.

Former Metro Corey Hertzog was also cut by Vancouver.

Zach lloyd was cut from Dallas. I think he would be a great signing and can fill in the RB or CB role

Wonder how much of a raise from last year's $90k he was asking for, had to be a decent amount if Dallas didn't want to renegotiate. Petke's on record saying that he wants attack-minded fullbacks though, so not sure if Loyd would offer much more in that department than any of the guys we had this year.

I dont think Hertzog would be interested in coming back to the team that gave him the boot--i've got nothing specific to base that on, only human psychology. Then again if he isn't getting nay interest from other teams and the choice is between coming back to Red bull or not working at all, i think he would prefer getting paid.

I'm not an advocate for throwing anyone out, but the decisions the front office makes sometimes leave me (and i suspect others) saying "huh?". So we keep the playoff "goat" but get rid of a hard worker like barklage? :alien: Ok so maybe it's harsh and unprofessional to base everything on one game. So let's say Sekagya had a good season, was he as valuable to the team as Barklage was? (keeping in mind Sekagya came in during the summer transfer window while Barklage was there since day 1).

Oh well, I give up trying to figure it all out. Hopefully the team will make some shrewd acquisitions in the offseason.

"The goat" is a very solid centerback, while Barkledge just isn't up to the level he should be to be kept. Not that he's not quality player, but in Petke's depth chart he is a 3rd string RB with another one possibly on their way in.

Petke said on the seeing red podcast that he wanted to revamp the outside backs and mids.

Barklage, Kimura, and Pearce were #1 on the chopping block. The fact that they've already parted ways with 2 of them does not surprise me. The fact that they've parted ways with 2 huge asterisks in the injury department doesn't surprise me either.

Still can't get over the thought that going into this season we thought fullback would be the one position we WOULDN'T need help with, and now its turned into priority #1 in the off season.

I've continued to believe since this time last year that we were strong up the middle and weak outside all over the pitch. Holgersson, Steele, and Alexander were nice surprises, but maybe not long term solutions. We need help outside and if you gave me a list of:

Hulk, Pearce, Kimura, Barklage, Alexander, Steele, Lade, Obekop, and Sam...

...then the first 3 off the chopping block for me are Kimura, Pearce, and Barklage.

I think those were good cuts...IF IF IF IF IF the front office replaces them with respectable pieces.

This year's re-entry draft is lining up to be a great one, a whole lot of quality players up for grabs. Chavez from SJ is in the mix, he'd certainly address Petke's wish for speed and attacking prowess on the wings.

Most teams prefer to build out rather than in. Having a strong spine on which to add other pieces will definitely help Roxburgh and Petke identify complimentary players. Taking a quickly look at the first run down from Ives, just based on position, there are a lot of higher rated midfielders available, but few outside backs. However, a winger could easily be converted to a left/right back and would provide that attacking skill, for which Petke is looking.

Judging by Petke's comments about an attacking LB we can probably expect for Roy Miller to remain our starting LB for next season

I would not mind that. Miller was good last season after what I would call a breakdown.

Alexander too but I guess nobody ever really doubted that. Gotta figure he's getting a pay bump from $70k after the amount of minutes played this year.

Still a bit upset at choosing Kimura over Barklage, but to me "restructuring" his contract sounds like he's at least taking a paycut.

Luyindula is a bit of a mystery though. He went from making millions at PSG to only $80k last year, I can't imagine he'd be happy to continue at such a low salary. On the flip side, he's only getting older and is clearly considered to be a bench player by the coaching staff, so how much more is he really worth?
