Below is my post from the larger Brazil Travel thread regarding my plans for Recife. I'm booked. We have tickets to three matches there, so we are staying a total of eight nights. We decided to stay outside the city in a beach town called Porto de Galinhas. Some travel magazine rated it best beach in Brazil. It's about 60 km south of Recife. We chose this town for a couple reasons. 1) Cheaper. The research we did showed that hotels within walking distance of Boa Viagem (tourist beach/neighborhood in Recife) were beyond what we wanted to spend. (Everyone's budget is unique). We were able to find a place with a fridge and a shared grill, so we can get some groceries and save $ on going out for every meal. 2) Calmer. We can stay and party in Recife if we want, but Porto de Galinhas is much more mellow. Again, personal preference. We're not ones to fret over safety- we've both lived in South America- but we would like to have a stroll on the beach at night and not be bothered. This just seems more likely in a small beach town vs a metropolitan city like Recife. Besides the new ports being built in the estuaries of Recife have forced all the sharks out onto the city beaches. Ha ha. (So I saw on Shark Week). We used Booking (dot) com. We're gonna be at a place called Porto Familly Chalés. We emailed them about transportation to the stadium on gameday and they said no problem. Because it's a tourist town, there are plenty of agencies in town running shuttles (combi vans) into Recife. If there is enough interest, they will hire one specifically for their guests. On a side note, the stadium is outside of the city, kind of in the middle of nowhere. So don't bother trying to find a place within walking distance of the stadium.
A friend of Mine and I have just booked our plane tickets to natal for June 9th and we plan to be there til July 14th! Were going to stay with a family friend for about a week in natal, and then we will be on the move to Salvator and then Rio. How much money do you think each of will need if we plan to backpack and stay in hostels? We live pretty frugally already.
hi i will stay in recife as well (for two weeks) travelling around by plane is just not really an option ($$$). i got tickets for the matches 34 and 45 so far and booked flight and accomodation (if you are from europe as well there are direct fights from lissabon with tap airlines with a really decent price). however i am considering visiting natal by bus for like 2 or 3 days but i don't want to plan that before the draw so we will see.
Where are you staying in Recife? I've got tickets to three of the four matches in Recife. 24, 34, and 45.
Hello, have also a ticket for match 24 in Recife. Have not yet booked flights and so on. Not sure what to do, travelling around Brazil, just going to the match or sell it. Are you in a group?
I never know if i should post in this thread or the general one as I said before I will stay in Olinda really looking into going to Natal for a short trip by bus now though but will wait for the draw to decide on the date for the Hostel/Poussada/Hotel am so excited for the draw actually to see which matches we will see in Recife
As I posted in the big thread, I'm staying in Pau Amarelo just north of Recife. Hoping to get tickets to the Match 39 game in Natal. Hard to find a ton of info on Pau Amarelo other than the beach and the fort there. Anybody familiar with it?
Not sure of the exact location, just that it's close to the beach. Renting a house there in a gated area. Going with some other guys who made the arrangements. I was thinking it would be better to be outside of downtown in terms of traffic and possibly safety. As I said, it's been tough to find any good info on the area.
Reserved my flights today. SLC-Dallas-Miami-Recife. Then Recife-Sao Paulo-Dallas-SLC. $1,600 on AA through Orbitz. It will be interesting to see how the draw affects prices over the next few days.
Hey @El Bigote de Dalí @ceezmad do you both have tickets for Germay - USA as well? If so you must be over the moon just like me although I will cheer for Germany since I am half German Of corse it's also great if you have Ghana - USA tickets as USMNT supporters
Yeah! So I'll be at US-Germany, Mexico-Croatia, and Italy-Costa Rica. Very happy with the results of the draw.
I posted this in the tickets forum, but I thought I might ask here, too. I'm looking for 4 tickets to the US/Germany game in Recife. We have tickets to the Iran/Bosnia game in Salvador in the unlikely event someone wants to swap. Let me know.
Anyone have any idea if Recife's interstate bus terminal have storage and/or lockers for luggage? I'll be arriving in Recife very early and taking a bus over to Natal for the Mexico v Cameroon game. Unfortunately our Hotel in Recife does not have early check-in.
I got exactly the same games and I completely share that feeling of happiness. @Almanza79 maybe you can contact the hotel and ask them if they have some sort of luggage room where you can put your luggage before you are able to check-in? The only thing I could find about the bus lockers is from 2008 so things might have changed http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopi...e_bus_station-Recife_State_of_Pernambuco.html
@Almanza79 - Agree with poster above, ask the hotel about storing your luggage. Any time I've traveled internationally and needed to have my luggage stored, my hotel has done it, including once holding some of my luggage for 5 days while I traveled throughout a country. Just be sure to not put anything too valuable in your luggage.
For those of you that are travelling to Recife. How are you planning your accomodations? Where are you booking? I'm got two matches (Italy/CR, Croatia/MEX)... I'm planning on arriving in Recife on the 18th and possibily taking Bus to Natal on the 19th for the Greece/Japan game, depending on how feasable it may be.
I'll be there June 19-27. We are staying out of town (Porto de Galinhas) and traveling into Recife for each match. We found our accommodations on Booking dot com. I searched Booking for something in my area and price range, then I would search for reviews on Trip Advisor and other such sites/forums.
Anyone knows how frequent bus running between Recife and Natal?? As I have Japan TST, need to move from Recife after Match 6 to Natal for Match 19. And I applied for Match 14 Ghana vs USA in this phase. I saw this meeting in SA 2010. It was good game.
