I'm the same way, born and raised here but the cold has never really affected me. I'll wear my normal shirt and jeans and at most a hoodie. No extra socks, gloves, hat or jacket. Maybe it's just cause I'm lazy. My girl on the other hand is always freezing. Went to target yesterday so she could get gloves and socks, I got a new ps4 game!!!!! Going to academy on Friday to get hand warmers, or some crap like that for her, I'm getting a smoke bomb to light as soon as we cross the Kansas state line, just like last year.
anyone hear the ET podcast with Geoff from yesterday? ET-what are you doing? Geoff-Hanging around an Austrian hotel, trying to stay warm ET-what the temperature? Geoff-40's maybe high 30's ET-What!? Geoff Cameron from New England is cold in that? Geoff-for my first four years out of college I played in Houston. My blood thinned quickly. I get cold in England. I am walking around in layers in the middle of summer there.
@*rey* What is the best BBQ in KC? Whereever it is, I suggest we have an Orange meetup there Friday night for all that will be in town. Say, 630pm?
In KC. Simple concept. And it would be about 11 hours south because Houston area BBQ is hardly edible after you've had BBQ in central Texas.
Actually, now that you mention it, it's been ages since I have had BBQ that wasn't made by myself or friends so you may be right. But we sure as hell didn't use sugar. And it's been about a year since I've had any BBQ at all.
I'm throwing Oklahoma Joes out there as an option, but I don't think I'm going to get into town until lateFriday, as we're leaving Friday morning. Saturday lunch instead? We ate there during a big disc golf tournament a few years back
Of the Big 3, my favorite was Fiorelli's Jack Stack. Like Robbie Rogers I'm a 'burnt-ends sandwich' kind of guy and the sandwich at Fiorellis was legit, big enough to split. Even better is that they had a great selection of Boulevard Beer on tap. The downtown location was strangely fancy for a BBQ joint so if you're taking your significant other it's a great place for a dinner date.
I think I might cry, I was counting the hours to the trip! My wife has come down sick and I have 2 tickets in the Dynamo Supporters section that I will not be able to use. The face value is $44 for both tickets. PM me if you would like to purchase them.
Friends, I'm desperate for a ride from Houston to KC. If you have an extra spot in a car and want help covering costs, shout at me. I only need one way. I'll be flying out of KC to the west coast. Thanks,
OK. I'm proposing OKLAHOMA JOE's for Friday night dinner. I'll arrive 630-700 pm ish. It is an old gasoline station for lord's sake -- sort of thing Austin would do. So lets try it. A local I have business dealings with recommended it as best in the area. And I don't need any of that date night fancy stuff that the King is referring to. I'm an old married man. Just give me good red meat -- and good orange meet. Oklahoma Joe's Barbecue 3002 W 47th Ave Kansas City, KS 66103 Open today 10:45 am – 8:30 pm oklahomajoesbbq.com (913) 722-3366
BTW: This is following on a tradition started last year of local BBQ the night before the conference final 2nd leg. We ate BBQ with about 15 other orange wearers in DC last year. It worked then ....
Oklahoma Joe's is great food but be prepared to stand in line for a while. Last time I was there we waited over an hour to get inside.
I'm ready to go back to Hill Country BBQ in DC. That was a pretty amazing place with good barbecue in the middle of downtown DC. Still don't understand how they can do barbecue in that place. And there's one like it in NYC too.
Dude what happened at RBA? I look over at the end of ET and you were gone? Was the dude with the Rockies cap giving you crap?
Being a dynam-ite transplant to KC for the last year and half, I should inform y'all, one does not go to OK Joes's on a Friday night without calling in a takeout order. You could wait easily over an hour in line (I suppose you could call in an order to eat there). Next, the seating inside is rather small, perhaps room for 40 people tops. But in all fairness, It is by far my favorite of the BBQ up here. The z-man sandwich and fries FTW.
I'm riding up on the bus. Any thing great or amazing near Sporting park to eat for lunch time or am I screwed with typical nationwide brands?
I actually never been to BJ's but they are building one out here in Katy next to longhorn's so maybe I will
