Back on topic, I think we went with the white shorts to distance ourselves from Ecuador, who will also be in the world cup. Ecuador's current uniform looks so much like our traditional uniform
There's something about that traditional look though, the way the yellow blue and red match I think it looks better than any of the new age (adidas) color schemes we have used. Im not saying that Adidas jersey's dont make us look sharper but they just miss it without keepig the colors of our flag, which is the most beautiful flag if you ask me
Yes, but Colombia is the team with the superstar striker, up and coming stars, and one of the hot topics of the world cup. Ecuador is unfairly overlooked and unrecognized by most fans. I am sure Adidas wanted to make sure they separated us from Ecuador.
I have to say that the jersey has been growing on me.. Altough I'm firmly in the "will-not-buy" camp.
Lol yeah. That is why I am torn about rooting for CONMEBOL teams. Surely they will make the region look good, but they all hate us (at least futbolisticamente). It was easy to root for them when Colombia wasn't there, but now I just want us to go far and represent the region with pride. Forget the rest
Germany and Colombia both went with white shorts. Maybe answer is one of those scientific gimmicks. Lighter colors could be what the Federations prefer for what will more than likely be warmer weather day games in Brazil sort of thing.
Big business dictates almost everything nowadays. Santa Claus wears red and white because of Coca Cola.
This is a major factor. But just like in the Olympics and other competitions of this magnitude teams try to get a scientific edge and that comes into play pertaining to designs and equipment.
I don't think the color of the shorts will affect performance that much. This is coming from a guy who runs marathons. The weight and fabric of the shirt goes a long way though
Every little bit counts though. Wearing Dark Blue or Black in the case of Germany in possible 90 degree weather? Does not seem smart.
I dont really think Ecuador is as overlooked as your post is making it seem, they have a world class winger in Valencia and have been to the past 2 world cups, If Adidas wanted to separate us from Ecuador then they did a good job in making our color scheme identical to that of Brazil's which defeats the purpose of making us "stand out" To be honest I think the uniform shouldn't be attributed with standing out as a team, if the squad plays admirable football then that should be the determining factor of what stands out. All this reinventing national team jersey's to stand out is kind of like the kid on the soccer field with the $400 nike vapors that doesnt do jack when you pass him the ball vs the kid with the $90 copa's that makes all the plays for the team... let your football do the talking not your gear.
Ecuador is hardly respected by the rest of the world. Antonio valencia is no longer world class, he's good but not world class. Then they have a bunch of players that are really good, but unknown to the average fans like Montero. I never hear any sports media giving them any hype and that sucks because Rueda has them playing really well.
