I am so glad that we won and played well vs Belgium. This was the last time I get to see my team for a LONG time and will at least have a good taste in my mouth about how good we really are.

We got lucky and need to play 90 minutes not just the last 45. It felt a lot like the Uruguay game that they won 2-0. Not that we played bad but had very limited chances. I am glad we have luck on our side but hope we keep it until after the World Cup

    2 things
Wtf did Macnelly do people are praising him but he didn't do anything at all!!!! The awesome through pass to Jackson was Guarin. I know you never notice a DM but Macnelly is suppose to be a playmaker and he doesn't make any plays!!!!!

Mondragon not going to bash on him because he didn't have to do much but yea was beaten 3 times(2 pos hits) and bad finishing from them. People make it sound like he was god like. In a normal day or against a better team it would have been a different story.

Mondrago is our freaking back up bro. All he had to show was that he wouldn't cost us games if he had to play out of injury or red card and he proved that he can at least hold his own under the sticks bro. He didn't have to show he was world class just that he wasn't a liability and he wasn't.

he was beaten 3x but got lucky. I don't feel safe with him and Perea in the back. Perea had a great assist to Ibarbo but dude makes rookie mistakes with his passing and his clearances. Sucks that Pekerman doesn't really rate Vargas too highly but he really should look for a #2.

Si es verdad que Pekerman lo va a utilizar por variantes, yo si hacía varios cambios

    ---------------------Vargas-------------------
    Arias-----Zapata-------Alvarez-------Armero
    ----------Guarin-----------Valencia----------
    Torres------------------------------James
    -------------Teo-----Falcao----------------

    Aldo x Guarin
    Torres x Cuadrado
    Bacca x Teo
    Ibarbo x Falcao
James x Jackson (Se retrasa a Ibarbo)
Y en el minuto 87 Medina x Arias.

Hollands the best team we have played in a long time not called Argentina or Brazil. They are at Uruguays level. Would you guys start a rookie Cb and Gk against Uruguay? All the hate here against medina pisses me off people make him sound like garbage. Guy is one of the best in the league but had 2 real tough games.

I'd be shocked if Perea didn't start. would be really bad for him especially if Zapata-Valdez/Balanta is a force shield.

We need to go to this game and win at least the 1st half then start trying guys out. Should be our strongest 11 which is the team that played against Belgium with Bacca or Teo in place of Muriel

I thought Faryd got his fingertips onto the ball on the Mertens shot?

nvm, just rewatched the highlights and Mondragon was beat on the shot. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. One thing that he did do well/better than Ospina is control his area, most every corner/cross he was there to collect. I think we should be fine in the GK department come WC time.

Faryd was only tested once right? He's not in terrible shape for his age, but I am expecting shots on target from the dutch in order to really test him.

Yea I hope he gets a test on the 19th, no offense to the Belgian's, Im curious as to how his reflexes have held up as he has aged, they seem alright but he almost got embarrassed yesterday with De Bruyne's free kick

So my take on the XI that we should use:

    4-2-1-3

    -----------------------Frady-------------------------
    ------Arias---Zapata---Balanta*---Armero----
    ----Cuadrado----------------------Sanchez-------
    --------------------Rodriguez----------------------
    ----Muriel------Falcao-------Victor------------

*Now I believe that Balanta should start since Perea will have issues against the dutch. In the last game, he had trouble holding his own because of the physical stature from the Belgians. While the Dutch aren't so much 'physically' strong, Balanta should test them out for us. With Zapata by him, they can take on a lot of attacks from the dutch.

Cuadrado will be needed for support along with Sanchez when the dutch try to out play us, but they can help connect the defense and midfielders/forwards whenever we counter-attack (our strongest thing). This works well with our wingers as Arias and Armero have been wonderful.

Rodriguez can work well with those four players when they're attacking or even when he needs to push up in pressure. When he gets the chance, he'll have 3 options.

Muriel had bad luck not giving enough time with the ball but he was still doing a decent job when the chances he got. That shot could have gone in but he was reacting wonderfully. Ibarbo has impressed me A LOT. He's a lot more balanced than I thought and was pretty good up the wing. And I don't need to explain Falcao.

i would love to see Balanta start against Holland but as much as Perea can have you on pins and needles let's not forget that Perea is a proven CB that played 8 years in Liga BBVA. Balanta is 20 and is in his first full season with RP. To think that Balanta may not have issues playing vs Euro level players like Holland is a bit naive.

Ibarbo did amazing. But I'd like to see him play more minutes before I give him the starting spot.

While you're not wrong, Perea needs a break after the physical beatings he took. Now if he's up to the challenge, by all means but Balanta needs to make his debut. Or better yet, I would like it if he made his debut during his first call up.

Ibarbo would do well starting after giving a wonderful performance and having full confidence. His mental mind is settled after what just happened.

You have to be a little careful with young players. What if Balanta starts and does some huge mistakes? That could ruin his confidence. I prefer small steps. Look at Medina, now everybody thinks he sucks.

    That didn't happen with Arias.

Although, Paraguay was a good debut...regardless, Balanta doesn't have to play the game entirely like Pekerman did with Medina. He should just give him the first half and sub him out if it doesn't work out. Ending the year on a high note would be good for the players. Medina himself is under pressure and stress and needs to take his time.

I'm not saying Balanta will automatically play bad if he starts, but if there is a chance you have to keep that in mind. Depends on the player of course. I don't know Balanta personally so I can't say. I trust Pekerman will make the right choice, he is a very smart coach IMO. I think Arias has surprised all of us. Maybe Balanta will do the same. But then again, no one really expected that much from Arias.

I actually expected him to do well. Not just because it was against Paraguay, but because of how good he is and undervalued in club.

Balanta plays for one of the biggest clubs in Argentina that has very hardcore fans who expect titles. The team is in disarray and the kid still performs well. If he doesn't make it on the team it will not be due to nerves or lack of confidence IMO

I would like it if he wins at least one trophy, but he's very likely to leave by the January transfer.

I thought Belgium would be the tougher of the two opponents. We'll see.
