Has anyone here entered the drawing for world cup tickets ? There's 3 price categories for tickets and apparently the most expensive category is the most requested one. I was about to enter the drawing for category 2 since the fifa website has it as having medium demand but based on the allocation of tickets it seems that every stadium is 50% category 1 ( most expensive ) and like 15% cat 2. Which one do you think you have a better chance of buying ? http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tournament/ticketing/02/15/43/75/seatinginformation_neutral.pdf
category 1 would be the most probable in my opinion. that's what i applied for. i only applied to games in salvador and fortaleza b/c that's where the top seeded teams will play and it's not Rio / Sao Paulo which will be overwhelmingly touristy...
I don't know the details yet, but my credit card company just authorized $4k worth of World Cup ticket purchases for games in Salvador and Fortaleza - i don't know which ones specifically yet. but if any of you are going to brazil and will be going to salvador and fortaleza, i may be in a position to sell extra tickets - all top seed games.... more details to come...
Let's say I was able to go, how much money will I be looking at to go from the U.S and get a few games?
I plan on going to Brazil whether I have tix or not, but if you have some that you are willing to part with then I would most definitely be interested...
Did any of you guys get charged by FIFA yet ??.. apperantly if you got charged last week on your credit card then you won the lottery and will be able to purchase tickets........
soo woke at 5 am today and was able to get tickets for a quarterfinal and a round of 16 in Brasilia... I hope i'm lucky enough and Colombia play there... anybody else to get tickets ?
Hope you get to see Falcao dominate and Teo become the WC all time soccer. But aren't the tickets really expensive to not know who is playing? I would be worried I end up seeing Costa Rica vs Japan haha. Do you have a hotel for those days. I wanted to get tickets and have a decent amount of money saved so I could take my dad but the idea of spending $15-20k and not actually seeing Colombia open a can of whoop ass seems too much. Anyone know if they will have tickets with hotel to follow a certain team? I mean I don't really care if it's more expensive but rather be there for what I want to see.
There is no way you will spend $20k and not be able to see Colombia play, even with 2 on board. Read Furnaccio's estimates (using his WC SA2010 experience) at 10 days - approx $7k per. And 10 days is plenty of time.
obviously don't want to spend that much but if it's around $15k then I def want to do it and take my dad. I am already his favorite but that would defiantly put me over the top with him haha.

Man I dont know about these 10k 7 day trips... surely you can just pay 1k for the plane ticket + the cost of the tickets and then just stay at some low end hostel and eat feijoada every day, no?
Exactly... they're a rip off.. I'm doing it on my own and i'm just hoping i'm able to trade my current tickets and to be be able to catch at least one Colombia game... I've been keeping my eye on plane tickets out of Miami and they have been steady at like $1400.... Hotels are getting booked quick so might not want to wait too long...
yea im sure the a large chunk of those cost's are just for the commodity of having everything booked and done for you. I think it takes away from the experience of being in a different country. I remember I went to Peru 6-7 years ago and stayed only at local hostels and only ate where the locals ate at, stayed in the country for a month and only spent $1,200.
haha Hostels..... did that when we backpacked South America 3 years ago. My roommate got his face bashed in because he didn't have a cigarette in Ecuador. Hostels are kind of sketchy even as a broke college student. You go with your girl or parents it's not really the way to go. Pretty sure Hostels for the WC time are going to be insanely expensive as well
I was looking at some of the itinerary options and as you say, about $10k for 8 nights... and that's catching only 1 Colombia match, tops (coming from the NorthEast). I mean FIFA really screwed people in this one. It's logistically expensive and insane to have to try to follow Colombia from Belo Horizonte - Brasilia - Cuiaba. I'm not traveling over 5,000 miles to stay at some run down hostel after forking over so much cash. They should have at least had our group starting in Cuiaba and ending in BH where you are traveling East toward the QF cities (either Rio or Recife for Group C). As it is some of the quotes for the rooms are upward of $600 for a blah 3 star. So for my 8 days it would be - $5,000 in hotels minimum + $500 in tix + $2500 in flights (including one internal flight) + $100-$200 'on the cheap' in other stuff (taxis/food/nightlife) = $1600 + figure another $500 in 'over charges of some nature'=approx $10k...and that's without the wife!!! Or I could spend @$400 and set up a projection screen in my backyard with some new cool wifi speakers @ $400 + figure 4-5 weekend days of deliciously catered food/drink for friends for about 10 people - for about $2500 . Total cost about $3000 and I get to keep my wife and kids. Am I deranged or am I missing something about it not being about $10k for an 8 night stay...
^^^^ I completely agree, it's insane, and I'm more insane to try. I was considering to fly to Natal, Sao Paulo or Rio. As far as I know Natal is completely book in hotels. Rio is the most expensive option and the only space available are crappy hostel. (which means I can't bring any valuable luggage because I'm sharing rooms with strangers) On the other hand Sao Paulo has good places too stay but are about 1hr drive from the city of sao paulo. (might be the Favela inn, which I don't mind at this point.) On the serious note, if anyone have advice in where I can find a place to stay please give me a set of websites. I've tried expedia, hotels.com, etc. Oh P.S. don't really care if its games for Colombia. It can be any world cup game.
