Just found out this morning thanks to a phone call from a friend that as of October 29th of this year, DirecTV is offering a new package called DirecTV Deportes. The package is $4.99 per month. As an En Espanyol subscriber, this will save me $10 per month. Thought I would share the info here. The package includes 6 channels: 425 - Fox Deportes 426 - beINSport Espanyol (HD) 427 - TyCSports 432 - ESPN Deportes (HD) 455 - Univision Deportes (HD) 456 - GOL-TV Keep in mind that Spanish language channels are on the 119 satellite and an addition lnb is needed so you may need a tech visit. Obviously, if you currently have En Espanyol, you are all set and can make the switch online in a minute. If you considering switching to DirecTV, PM me and we can both get an additional $10 off per month... SA www.soccertvblog.com
Thanks for heads up. Switched over last night. Don't think I watched enough peruvian or Honduran league games to justify extra $10 a month.
The Spanish Package ("En Espanyol") costs $14.99 per month. Personally, I subscribed to En Espanyol for precisely the 6 channels now being offered on the "Deportes Package", so dropping En Espanyol and adding Deportes saved me $10 per month. I am sure some will keep En Espanyol because of the Central American, Colombian, Ecuadoran & Peruvian football but like matty311 above, I rarely (never) watched those leagues. SA www.soccertvblog.com
I used to subscribe to the Espanol package over 10 years ago with no extra lnb. Is that standard now? Having the additional lnb?
Not 100% sure but I believe the Espanyol channels were always on the 119 bird. You likely had the right setup (dish/lnb) installed initially. The technology has changed drastically in the last 10 years as well. A lot smaller dishes are now capable of a wider span (I have the Slimline 5 dish which pretty much everybody that has had DirecTV installed in the last 3-5 years has). Also, 10 years ago, switchers were necessary for multiple lnbs whereas now, the switching is actually done right at the dish. Either way, with their main programming on the 101 degree satellite, its amazing that today it takes a 10-minute tech install to grab the programming on 119 when 10-15 years ago it took 2 separate dishes on the roof. So you don't need an additional lnb to get Spanish programmimg? I had directv over 10 years ago. Then a year ago my townhouse complex went to Directv and resigned up again. So the new slim dish you won't need additional lnb?
I guess what I'm saying is that if its the same dish from 10 years ago and you were getting the Spanish channels, the additional lnb will already be there. If its a newer dish that never had Spanish programming, there is a very good chance you WILL need a lnb added to the dish. Simple test: go to your MENU and for the guide select SEE ALL CHANNELS (not sure of the exact procedure but just get to see ALL). Now try to see channel 456 on your screen guide (GOL-TV). If the channel shows up on the guide, that means your dish/lnb is getting the 119 satellite. If you cannot get 456 on the guide, you will need to call DirecTV and have them send a tech to install a lnb. SA
Yes I'm able to see all the spanish pack channels like GOLTV it's just grayed out and when I click on the channel I get the promt screen to order it. So I guess I'm able to get the Deportes pack with no problem?
Yes. Without a lnb staring at 119 you not even see those channels on your guide. You are all set. Log into your account online and order (you may have to call as I did). Either way, you can get the Deportes package in time for the qualifiers! SA
The default audio on GolTV on DirecTV is English. (Odd, I know, since it's on the Spanish/Deportes pack.) It has Spanish SAP.
I just got the Deportes package this morning. If I record programs on my DVR on GOLtv does the audio record in English?
Awesome so all their matches and programs have English audio? I had it on a few seconds before I left for work and the infomercials were in Spanish.
Yeah, the commercials are in Spanish but the matches and other programming is in English (and Spanish if you utilize the SAP button).... SA
Awesome can't wait to start watching GOLTV again. Haven't watched it since the days when they had Serie A.
Well, their main draw WAS the Argentinian league, but apparently not anymore. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torneos_y_Competencias
That's an old article. TyCSports shows EVERY match from the Argentine Primera except for 1 game that is sublicensed to GOL-TV. A quick look through the guide a few minutes ago shows that 6 of the 10 Primera matches this weekend are LIVE on TyC. the other 3 are on delay. Good soccer but being non-HD it makes it a little hard to watch at times... SA www.soccertvblog.com
Awesome I know what I'll be doing this weekend. It's awesome that DirecTV has a sports and deportes packs. So much soccer. Thank god for DVRs. I hate the fact GolTV and TyC aren't HD but just glad we get them now and at a cheaper price. It beats illegal streams anyday.
and I thought we were getting Fox deportes in hd too? The libertadores should have priority over any other station in that huge Spanish pack.
Yeah I love GOLTV now that I have it again wish it was in HD. Too bad it's a dying network. They should really revamp it for the Latin American market. Make Argentine and Brazilian leagues priority and maybe try to get Libertadores and Sudamericana from fox. Wishful thinking I know but, an all soccer channel can still do well if marketed really good. A real shame GolTV has been relegated to the network graveyard. I love that TyC covers every Argentine match but again sucks that it's not HD surprising since DirecTV has a stake in it.
