Congrats metz! This trophy is for you, my dad and mom, zensum, Gio17. Kokoplus, Woodrow, defendyourself, metrosuccess, henryo, fina, jamison, and all that have supported the Red Bulls since 1996!
This is what heavyweights do, they hit back and they punch harder as the game goes on. Even at 1-1, Chicago looked a little stunned. And the Red Bulls just kept on coming. It'll be interesting to see how other teams will try to defend us. The one thing they can't do is try and go toe-to-toe. 58 goals, the most in MLS, with a +17 goal differential, 2nd only to Portland. It was a great atmosphere at the Arena tonight. High fives all around for everyone and hats off to the players. Henry and Cahill lead the way, but everyone chips in and gets the job done.
Damn this feels really good. That second half was one of the best halves of soccer this team has ever played. It was such a joy to watch. Now let's get that MLS Cup.
Congratulations! In the season that we finished at the very deep bottom, you managed to win it. One day, this would eventually happen, and it could not be in a more sweet fashion for you (and extremely bitter and sour for us). See you guys in the CCL 2014-2015! Semifinals, any one?! Best.
5 games to go and Cup is ours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are Petkeized, we can not lose at this point. Cahill i sMVOP and Peggy looks like Valderama right now and Steele looks like son of Joel Lindpere! Best RB /Metro teamever!!!
Ditto that, the second half was a spectacular performance. If someone told me Lindpere would assist on a 90th minute goal, I would started breaking things in advance...who would have thought we would play such a great half that the goal did not matter
Summer 2014 will have important soccer for me with the World Cup and the Red Bulls in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Congrats everyone! The stadium was rocking and I know the players felt all the support from the stands to everyone at home! We may not always get along on these boards and we may disagree about the direction of the team but tonight is for YOU, for US, for ALL OF US and the entire team and their staff. The New York Red Bulls came through and delivered. Enjoy the moment everyone. No matter if you've been supporting the team for 2 years or ten. ENJOY!!! On to MLS CUP! And thank you to Mike Petke. Metro legend forever. Thank you thank you THANK YOU. You ARE NY. You ARE the shirt. You ARE METRO. You ARE RED BULL. You are in our hearts forever!
Man what a game! Peguy fully deserved MOTM, and Petke deserves a ton of credit for moving him into the midfield.
Hey there everyone. I want to congratulate the team on everything they've done. I am overjoyed. I'll be wearing my Red Bulls scarf to work tomorrow and explaining its meaning to my students (college level). We looked strong as hell and I don't think we're gonna "go gently into that good night." This is like a dream for me. I'm relocating to Manchester in two months, right after the cup. So, for my final year with the Red Bulls as my local team, they did it. MLS Cup would be great, but this, to me, matters even more. So, thanks for all the years of memories New York. And for me, what a way to go out.
Yep. Petke was a Metro Legend before his coaching stint. Now...? I have no voice right now. I haven't stopped smiling either
Congrats to all the fans of this team, and especially to the people that have been with this club since Day 1. I became a Metro supporter when I moved to New York in 2002 (largely due to Clint Mathis). Though there have been a few highlights, obviously last night was the best. Though I am no longer in the area I was with all you guys in spirit last night. I haven't made my yearly (at least) trip to the NY area. I've been secretly hoping that I will have an excuse when we are playing in Red Bull Arena for MLS Cup!!!!!! Major props to Mike Petke for righting the ship in season and displaying a vastly improved tactical acumen down the stretch. He made perfect in-game alterations time and time again during the stretch run. How about Luyindula as the attacking mid? He played an absolutely great game. Is it too early to start talking about our lineup in the playoffs?!?!
Somehow Peguy Luyindula has become the playmaker that Red Bull has needed for so long. He's perhaps not as slick and tricky as your typical center mid, but he more than makes up for it in his ability to bring the ball up and make a good pass almost every single time. He covers tons of ground is almost impossible to get off the ball. I can even forgive his terrible misses on goal attempts since he creates so many more opportunities. He's gone from an also ran as a forward to the attacking midfielder that makes the rumble with the throaty roar of an F1 engine. Houston/Montreal best be afraid, very afraid. The Red Bulls are charging.
Nice to wake and realize yesterday actually happened..but party time is over. Playoff Bracket Nov. 3rd isn't that far away...
What a game. I am so tired. Until Henry's goal of the year worthy equalizer, I was despondent. What an atmosphere at the arena. I didn't want to leave.
It's amazing how much more fluid and effective our attack has been once Luyindula and Sam became regulars in the midfield. Petke talked at the start of the season about having players regularly switching positions, but it hasn't been until the past few games that we've actually seen the team accomplish it while still staying organized defensively. Luyindula was constantly switching with Sam on the right, and occasionally Cahill would swap back into the midfield as well. For my money, I see no reason to change the current formula. The attacking six players from this game are capable of creating goals against any team in the league. They can hit on the counter or they can build slowly through possession, and they can do so through the left, central, or right channels.
My only worry was that Chicagoseemed to be able to attack us from our defensive right side where Sam and Holgerson were positioned, alittle too easily for my liking.
