UVa still leads 2-0 in the 80th. Cavs just made their first sub of the game. George Gelnovatch ain't perfect but I like that he limits the subs. In fairness to Bobby Clark, he's only used 2 subs so far.

One thing I've noticed this year is that quite a few top teams are no longer rotating subs the way they used to. In the game I'm watching, Notre Dame hasn't used many subs, and other than giving Salandy-Defour a short breather, UVa hasn't subbed at all.

This is shaping up as a very impressive win for UVa, they've looked comfortable.

EDIT: Ha, Sandon beat me to it. :D

Games ends 2-0 as Notre Dame falls from the unbeaten. After a 1-3-0 start, UVa is 6-4-0 in their last 10 and 3-2-4 in the ACC. Irish are 8-1-5, 5-1-3.

Darius Madison was the obvious man of the match. Toyed with Notre Dame on the right flank and looked very much like a pro prospect. I like Danny Cruz' bite but Madison is likely an upgrade in terms of skill if the Union sign him.

Have to say, I love to keep an eye on the conferences that don't have tournaments.

In the Ivy League, pre-conference favorite Cornell is already dead in the water at 0-3-1, having lost 1-0 to Brown today.

Meanwhile, seeming no-hopers Harvard are 3-1 after they just pulled off a late comeback to win 2-1 over Princeton, which is 2-1-1. The title race consists of those two teams, and also Penn and Yale, who are both 2-0-1 and face off tonight.

Meanwhile, a bit of an upset as Sacramento State defeats UC Davis 1-0. Don't know who scored as GT was crapped out so listened to audio during second half. Davis goalie Omar Zeenni sent off with straight red towards very end of game basically for some type of dissent (no foul). this means he will not be available for their game at UCSB. I am sure E will give us a full report later but the announcers were really ragging on the officiating, ie not playing advantage late in game on a thru ball to Matt Wiesenfarth who was thru on goal but instead calling it back for a free kick.

What is it with Big West officiating?

The commonality of Penn and Yale is that Cal Poly beat them both this season, 3-2. I'll give the nod to Yale tonight.

Costly 0-0 tie for UMBC against Binghamton today. Will likely come with an RPI penalty attached.

Now that college player have the 8 weeks and the proper number of games to play like most pro teams have for preseason, they don't have to sub as much.

Hoosiers led in Ann Arbor and were tied 1-1 until late, but they were outshot 19-6 and eventually they fell 2-1 on yet another late goal.

Gamewinner was finished nicely, but it started from a turnover by a Lobos center back that was simply inexcusable. Can't stand over the ball that long.

Michigan goals by Yahlool and VanSlooten, assists by Fabio, Woods and Eckenrode.
    Shots: Michigan 19, Indiana 6
    SOG: Michigan 5, Indiana 4
    Fouls: Michigan 9, Indiana 13
    Corners: Michigan 5, Indiana 0

In his first action as a Wolverine, Grant Mattia came off the bench in the second half and made two saves, kept a clean sheet and got the W. Grinwis apparently injured himself in the first half. Hope he is ok.

Next up: Akron on Wednesday night. Go Blue!

Are Georgetown's Steve Neumann and Penn's Alec Neumann related?

Regardless, they each registered a gamewinning assist in OT tonight, seemingly within seconds of one another.

The referee also disallowed a Davis goal (Hoeck header from Shulte corner kick) after whistling a foul in the box.

Zeeni had come all the way up for an all-hands corner kick attempt. After the shot went wide, Zeeni was running up the field to get back in position wne the ref blew the whistle and pulled the red card. It must have been something he said, because he was not close to anyone during the whole exercise. He will miss the upcoming game at UCSB Saturday and missed the first game while he was recovering from the injury suffered at Fullerton.

It was senior night - 7 seniors and there families honored before the game, including my son. This will be a long weekend in Davis - my daughter is also a student there, and her birthday is tomorrow.

Davis defender Ramon Martin del Campo missed the game after his 5th yellow at Cal Poly Tuesday.

Yes Alec is steve's younger brother.

Big Win for the Hoyas who needed to win if they hoped to win the BE conference. Hoyas now sit atop the rankings with 2 games to play. But they next travel to a Dangerous St. John's team that seems to have regained their form.

Score does not change and UCI beats Northridge. These two teams are now tied for the lead in the South Division of the Big West with records of 4-2-1. If Fullerton wins tonight, there would be a theee way tie for first.

Sorry for the double post. Anyways, UC Riverside gets a late goal to go up on Fullerton 2-1 and holds on for the win. All Big West teams still have a chance to make the Big West tourney.
