I don't know about a new coach. Watson's gotten results, but he also got Stewart and Goodson to help with those.

I do think it's time to think about wholesale improvements to the squad. First thing I'd say is to get rid of the Bash Brothers and get Wondo an actual partner with quickness and finishing skills. Gordo and Lenny both had crap years and are getting long in the tooth, and frankly I'm tired of their style of play. Also, maybe upgrade in CM--I think Baca had a poor season. I'm cool with our wing play and central defense, and with Cronin.

Fucito.. yeah, I understand putting on more offense, but put in the small guy who hasn't played in a regular season game in.. 20+ matches? Don't understand.. would have been better served putting on Morrow, at least he's a versatile player who could run up and down the flanks and whip crosses in, which is what WaTFson was banking on..

You should seriously consider becoming a Rapids fan so you can "cry for soccer" like Fernando Clavijo.

The team has been the best in MLS for 3 of the last 4 half-seasons. I'm sorry it's not your style, but if you think it "doesn't cut it", the facts are blowing up in your face.

I set the bar where I felt it should be set when he got the interim job. I'm sticking to it. He won't lead us to the playoffs next year. If that doesn't matter to you since we're still in Buck Shaw and it would feel bad not to reward him for the teams' recent run of form, I see your side of it. But the run of form was down to Stewart and Goodson and not the coach.

So are we totally out of the playoffs due to goal differential or something?

I'm proud of the way my team played tonight. This feeling stinks but we still have CONCACAF to blaze through, which is the best way to honor our 2012 Shield.

I hope people don't take this opportunity to widen divisions among fans. We had enough of that last October.

Yeah because things would have to happen just right and we'd have to score 20 on Dallas or something. We might be able to trade Dallas our first round draft pick for that?

Did those tactics score a goal tonight? If this is all you hope for in a team, then you should prepare yourself for perpetual disappointment. I'm not saying crossing into the box is a bad thing, it's just that when that is your only tactic, you're putting yourself at an incredible disadvantage.

I could give a rats a$$ about "style", I want versatility and multiple ways to score goals. If that is too much to ask, then perhaps we don't hold high enough standards for this sport..

They are already deciding on that? That means the league will be off for almost a year!

Martinezs play tonight made Baca look like Andrés Iniesta.

I think he's a good player and had a fair season, but I think he'd do better in the Mexican league. I'd like to see him on my other team, Monterrey. Maybe Suazo would like to play in the USA for a couple of seasons? He'd be a fun DP to have.

i couldn't force myself to watch the game except for the last 8 minutes, hoping for a miracle. Personally, I think the FO hexed this game by selling playoff tickets a week too soon. oh well.

Despite our disappointment, I'm glad our boys are closing out the season in good form. I really hope a new coach doesn't try to redo the whole slate.

Going forward, the only teams I can root for in the playoffs are probably SKC, RSL and Chicago... I really dislike Keane, New York, Portland, and Seattle these days...

It's not about style, it's about being a 1 trick pony, and I agree. Last year, the Quakes had a few more players who could at least shoot the ball from outside the box. This year we lost that and it shows.

It seems teams are learning how to tame the bash brothers. I'm not sure I'm ready to toss them just yet, but they sure need someone to complement them.

Yea, what a dud that was. He had to have given the ball away uncontested 5 times since he came on. It gave me flashbacks to Opara in the playoffs last year...just not up to that level of game at that time.

IMO Gordons time is over and has been for a while now. Lenny on the other hand is a solid player who has good years ahead of him

Baldy worked us over good in the Dallas match, and the 0-0 at Buckshaw v. Caps. Left 4 points on the table. That killed our playoff run.

Still, proud of the Quakes comeback late season. Proud of the Quakes tonight, especially Lenny. Really controlled the ball, and kept his cool despite the constant fouling.

I'm curious, did you notice if the only foul he was actually awarded was the one called by the AR?

They've been rumored to be lately.

That also means that The Epicenter would only host its first league game in July/August 2015. :(

Wow, you win, what a convincing argument, we didn't get all 3 points visiting the team with by far the best home goal differential in the league. All we did was forcing multiple diving saves and desperate sliding blocks.

Has it occurred to you that we've allowed 2 goals in our last seven games and that just maybe part of that is due to playing 2 holding midfielders instead of a fancy "#10"?

We've done an incredible job winning games without spending a fortune on a big name playmaker.

Dawkins was a fine dribbler who could cut to the middle, but I dunno about "shooting from the outside". Salinas and Cato are doing a great job on the wings.

Proud of the team tonight, but, also very gutted. Almost dug ourselves out of a great big hole. I personally think Watson has shown enough to be given the job for next year. Give him a chance to pick up some of his own players and see....

Maybe some big names would have pushed us through to the playoffs or maybe a big name or two would have taking us to the cup last season.

You don't want to spend money?
