Okay, for fear of being exposed as the ingnoramous that I might be, I have a quick question...

    *gulp*

Do soccer players wear protective cups? Keepers even?

I have only played a couple seasons, both on the field and as a keeper, and I never wore one. I never even wore one for grid-iron or baseball either, which may or may not have been insane.

    Anyway, thanks...

Not usually. Doesn't mean that you can't. Players choice! I do know some that do (keepers and field players), and most that don't.

    suggestion:
if you feel you need one, maybe try compression shorts first---a lot of players DO wear them. Some for the same reason.

I never wore one and then one day while playing keeper in an indoor game had the ball hit me in the balls during a frantic scramble, luckily it was at the end of the game. I still don't wear one but I am always cautious. Oddly enough while playing football and baseball I wore one but never took a low blow but while playing basketball I have been hit with a knee, elbow, and the ball below the belt.

wore one playing hockey and American football as a kid, wear one now playing soccer, have taken a shot or two point blank without one, and with one, much easier recovery with one ;) You don't even notice it after a few minutes.
