Kreiszeitung reports Werder will sign a midfielder for the left offensive wing. Weserkurier speculates it could be Marcelo Alejandro Estigarribia, a 25 Paraguayan, who played for Juve and Sampdoria in the Serie A, but Kreiszeitung denied it could be him.
According to the kicker it's also not Estigarribia, but Santiago Garcia (25 Argentine LB/LM) who is under contract at Palermo, who got relegated from Serie A.
The player is in Bremen, but his contractual situation is difficult. Eichin tries to sign him as a free transfer, because he was set free by Palermo (had problems with the ultras there). The FIFA will decide if he can join a new club for free, Eichin hopes that a decision is made by the FIFA officials before the transfer window closes.
Stoke City closing in on Arnautovic deal...expected to be finalized Monday. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Werder-Bremen-winger-Marko-Arnautovic-2m.html
So finally Stoke City could be the world class club Arnautovic is looking for. No offense Stoke as a club, but the whole story it is like the one that connected Wiese with Real Madrid and then the player ended up in Hoffenheim (and there in training group 2). Meanwhile the Santaigo Garcia transfer is done. Don't ask me about the contract situation it is complicated, but he joins us on loan for this season and then we there is a buying option.
The transfer fee of 2.32 million € (2 million pounds) seems like a bargain for a player of his potential, but up to now he has been too stupid to use it. How he will do at Stoke I don't know, maybe someone fix screws loose in Arnautovic brain. If one could do this, the transfer could be a very good move by Stoke, if not he will probably continue to underperform and penetrate the nerves of teammates and fans. At Werder he behaved from day one like a twat. On his first training day he demanded the other players to worship him because he is a Champions League winner although he did not play a single minute for Inter in 09/10 and in the Serie A Mourinho, who attested him to behave like a child (Yeah, Mourinho is nuts, but he was absolutely right), fielded him 3 times as a sub. Then his interviews about our club, how he behaved in public (wanted to be the lifes of policemen in Austria). And worst of all, how he put his self-ego over the team when we fighted against relegation last year. It was the correct decision to suspend Elia and him from the team at that time and very noble from club and fans to give both a second chance. Elia took it with returning fit to the training camp (though his performances are still weak), but Arnautovic returned with a belly and his "******** you" behaviour. While remembering all these things I am glad about the low transfer fee and about the fact that this chapter is closed, finally. Thank you for nothing, A**holenautovic, be glad Stoke bought your life for 2 million pounds, that is 2 million more than its value.
Whats the story with Wurtz and Hathaerz? I saw we loaned them both out? Or was the Hathaerz move a sale?
What? Why sell Hartherz? I thought he had lots of potential. Heck I thought we should be fielding him at LB while Schmitz is injured.
According to the kicker Eichin turned down an offer by Ajax for Elia today. He is quoted: "After we sold Arnautovic, we have no interest in letting another winger leave." Well so far Elia did not play good for us, but it would have been hard to sign a replacement. So lets hope Elia gets in a better form than last season. It would be good for him (WC) and us.
Well, youth development at Werder. Up to the U19 it runs well and we have competitive youth sides, but then the players have massive problems to make it into the first team. The club already noticed it, but I am not sure if the right decisions are made by the people in charge.
Was out of town all weekend for a wedding. Glad I miss the Monchengladbach match since it seems like it was a pretty impotent performance, and I'm glad to see Arnautovic is leaving. Though, I wish we could have got more for him, and I wish there would have been time to purchase a real winger to replace him. Not that it'll matter if Dutt keeps playing Petersen on the wing with Hunt in the centre. F-ck that noise, friends.
So the regular transfer activities are done. I must say I am dissapointed and expect us to play against relegation the whole season (prediction: rank 14-17). Eichin could sell some problem cases, but one thing is missed: Signing a quality central offensive midfielder and kick Hunt for him (because his contract ends). Yes, Hunt is one of the older experienced players, but he has neither playmaking qualities nor real leadership mentality. Hunt can only play good when he can assist a class player (Özil, De Bruyne), but when he is on his own then he fails. I really worry about the offense. When the team manages to not conceed first it will probably collect some points, but elsewhere when we fall behind we will get slaughtered by counter attacks like Gladbach did it. That was the same under Schaaf. There were only two modes: Defending with few against goals (0,1) , but absolutely no power upfront. And attacking without taking any care of the defense (Harakiri mode). I know these things can be tough within short time (especially when having such dumb players like we do), but I can't see any positive progress.
There are rumors we could sign another player: Tim Wiese. The former Werder player sits in Hoffenheim in the stands and plays with some other players their coach dislikes in a seperated training group, called "Trainingsgruppe 2". But now some speculations come up that connect him with us because Wiese played last weekend at Frings fairwell match and was celebrated massively from the Werder fans. Since the transfer market is closed such a deal could only be done now if Hoffenheim sets him free from his 3.5 million € annual salary contract, Werder signs him for free and Wiese accepts this deal (in Bremen he would earn at most 1.5 million €). The Werder officials said little about that rumor, but showed their support for Mielitz (Eichin stated that there is no goalie discussion, but Dutt said he would deny a goalie discussion up to the day where a change of the goalie has to be made ).
Bremen rumored to be making a second attempt at signing Yoichiro Kakitani from the J. League in the winter. http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/yoic...-bremen/topic/ansicht_154_1001096_seite1.html
Good technical skills, but the defenders in the video behave like Werders defense in worst harakiri mode.
First rumors come up in context with the Juventus deal. Italian press speculates Juve could send Frederik Sörensen (Bologna, Juve has a part of the transfer rights) and forward Richmond Boakye (currently sent by Juve on loan to Elche/Spain) on loan to Werder.
Sorensen should be an upgrade over Caldirola at CB. Boakye could really add to the team's goal scoring depths. Depending on which formation Dutt plays, he can fill in at RW or at one of the 2 striker positions. The latter seems to be the one Dutt has used lately, though he's tried playing guys like Elia, Junuzovic, Hunt, etc. up there who are not effective as strikers. I'd still rather see Selke have more time to develop at the Bundesliga level though.
FC Southampton and Newcastle United are interesting in signing Aaron Hunt next summer. His contract ends then and he could leave as a free transfer.
New transfer rumors: A French sources reports Werder and Freiburg are interested in Benjamin Bourigeaud, a 19 years old defensive midfielder, from RC Lens (Ligue 2). (German indirect source: spox) Polish sources link 23 years old right back Pawel Olkowski from Zabrze with Werder. (German indirect source: Kreiszeitung) Tim Dierßen (17, Hannover youth) is on the scouting radar of many BL teams. Werder, Hoffenheim, Gladbach and Wolfsburg should be interested in signing him (German indirect source: spox). Sportbild reports Werder wants to use the buying option for Santiago Garcia.
Werder is connected with Darryl Lachman, a 24 years old central defender from Zwolle (Eerendivisie). I don't know if he could help Werder, he seems to have similar skills to Prödl and Lukimya.
Joseph Akpala suffered last weekend an achillorrhexis and is expected to be out for the rest of the season. He might even return from Karabükspor (Turkey) to us injured. That is not good for him and Werder.
