Years ago there was a time, before the invention of the internets, that I young boy overheard the name Busy Babes. Ironically, this occurred on the internets. This mystical figure was spoken of in such high regard, that the young boy felt compelled to include this legendary player(s) that has(ve) graced the Old Trafford pitch in decades past in what at the time seemed like an innocent Top 10 Manchester United players of all time list. Remember, this was a time before the young boy mastered the art of performing skateboard tricks with cars, and even before the state of CA gave him the right to post licensed proof of his magical powers of motor vehicle coordination for all the world to see. [Links to the 3 mentioned incidents above have not been provided and shall remain out of sight due to concerns of BigSoccer crashing if they were to be posted at the same time] Anyway, back to the young boy. Since the legendary "BB Incident," the young boy has grown up, and is now a slightly older boy. Also, the adopted lands where this slightly older boy now calls home have brought you Twitter. Although the authenticity of this next tweet has not been confirmed - and shall remain unconfirmed in the context of this post - the now slightly older boy has found an incident so compelling, that it might be on par with said "BB Incident." This brings us back to the title of this thread: I have been outdone, lets move on? Considering you still don't know how to spell Jonny Evans first name, I'd say no, you haven't been outdone.
So glad I bookmarked this all those years ago: https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/...ever-worn-the-red-shirt.594125/#post-12645872 Required reading for newbies.
that guy doesn't post here though, so i think this is just a reminder that now makes all of that fresh in people's minds. not sure what there was to move on from anyway?
I just read it and aside from the jokes and misunderstanding from the legend Isra, there was some really great conversations about the past history of club (I love love love appreciating and learning about our history) and comparison to modern game and the past. I actually wished that guy Tom Clare (love his posts, where did he go?) would have answered Sdot question about the Babes vs the 1992 class. Btw, my vote, based on vids and clips, no one can be compare to George Best. Magnificent.
It seems the now older boy has actually learned very little in his transformation from a younger boy.
Yeah, there were some great discussions. I think TomClare actually got his answer in about the 1992 class vs the Babes. Page 3 of that thread post 59. Just mentioned in passing, no discussion. But I think there were other great points. 2 things that stick to me - the past always looks more amazing. We occasionally sell current players short in the all time discussion because we imagine the past legends even better than they were. But at the same time, imagine what some of those players could have done with modern nutrition, no smoking, etc. It's nuts.
Remains the only time a Bigsoccer post has ever made me wish to join the People's Temple Agricultural Project in Jonestown. The irony is that he actually started that thread.
Can anyone think of something that would actually outdo israbeckham's plasticity? I was really bored so I thought long and hard today but couldn't come up with much. Maybe someone who thinks that Sir Alex Ferguson was a knight of the Round Table?
Isra, I feel bad that you brought it up. Here's an idea. Just start posting here. If your thoughts are valid, people will listen to you, regardless of the Busby Babes thing. You may never live it down. But whatever.
