I'm thinking that they might have a slightly more Cold War flavor. I'm willing to find out, though. I definitely recommend viewing a DVD right before watching its sequel in the theater. I did the same thing before watching Spider-Man 2 and was rewarded by understanding all the little references to the first movie that I would've otherwise forgotten about. GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
From Sandy Collora, who last year made "Batman: Dead End", comes "World's Finest". Here are a few of the pics from "World's Finest" (you can see more of them here): GO EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Yeah. I do this all the time. I did this with Lord of the Rings. Even though I'd seen the movies a million times. But I have the four disk sets. So right before the last one came out, I did two nights of Lord of the Rings. It was awesome. Those are the best movies ever made. Mmmm Viggo....
So I'm moving today. And it's 100+ degrees out! What the fish? Why the heck is it so fishin' hot here?! And not only is it hot, but it's humid. Disgusting. I can handle hot, but not humid. I don't like moving. I can't wait until all my stuff is in the apartment. That'll probably be tomorrow. FISH! IT'S HOT!
How come soccer fan, and player, Arianna Jimenez (I hope I got her name right) is thowing out the first pitch at a A's game instead of kicking off an Earthquakes game? She was the girl who was hit by a plane on a freeway.
I have a question about training...when the Quakes train at Spartan, can anyone just go in? Like just walk through the gate and have no problems with sitting in the bleachers to watch the Quakes practice? I was thinking about going one of these days to watch...
What the fishin' heck? I'm tired and had one beer too many. But I think even if I didn't, that would still look weird.
Here you go: http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/8460292.htm?template=contentModules/printstory.jsp&1c Hope that kind of clears it up...
We drove by that wreck an hour or so after it happened. I'm so glad anyone, much less that girl, survived. We couldn't figure out what we were looking at when we saw it. We knew it was a wreck, put what is that weird large surface sticking up from everthing? (The tail!)
Robbie Williams. When I was in England in 2001 every match started with the song you've heard called " Let me entertain you ". I believe it's on the Millenium album. I think that's the song you're referring to.
I believe so. I did it once and I didn't meet any resistance. There were a handful of other "civilians" there also. I sent an e-mail to the front office to confirm but never heard back. I'd say just keep a low profile. Don't jump into one of the drills and give someone a hard tackle It's a great deal, when you think about it. Being able to walk right up to see some world-class players training, almost like you're on the team. One of the benefits of being a fan of a sport that is not yet widely popular in this country.
Sure you can go in no problem. If you want to see them practice at Spartan, you'd best go on the day before a home game. They don't practice at Spartan except on the day before. The visiting team practices in the afternoon of the same day. All practices in the rest of the week are at West Valley College. At least that is my understanding of the situation, having been at them several times. As an aside, this is one of the things I can never understand when the opposing team's announcers (NE, Kansas, etc.) say that the Quakes have such a big advantage playing at Spartan. How can they have an advantage, when they only practice there the day before a game (just as the visitors, do)?
The Quakes are the only team in the league who play more than twice a year at Spartan. Plus, it's the smallest stadium in the league (I think), so even if we only have 10K there, the fan noise is way more intense than the same 10K in an NFL stadium.
She had already made an appearance at Spartan. She was there during the Canada doubleheader game with the Storm/Nighthawks (Sissi was with her as she was wheeled out onto the field with some group), she just didn't get a PA mention that I'm aware of. We did a chant for her after she came back off the field. I will mention that the Quakes F.O. was made aware of her right after the accident occurred. I told them personally. That said, something might have been done for her behind the scenes. Kudos to the Storm and Sissi for helping to lift her spirits publicly.
plus, we've done pretty well at home ... we're 3-1-5 at home this year. granted, that's not the best but one loss through nine games is pretty good. there's some sort of advantage there.
LD wrote a good column about the built-in advantage of the home team. (Sorry I don't have the link, but I bet someone does.) Most of what he said was that the advantage isn't tactical, but logistical -- for the traveling team, the stadium isn't the disadvantage, it's the flight, the hotel, the food, the bus, etc., etc., all the stuff that takes you out of your routine and perhaps off your internal clock, when you've traveled to a distant time zone. Oh, here it is... http://www.ussoccerplayers.com/exclusives/437763.html
Heck! I know I'm off my routine just from moving this weekend. I still can't figure out where stuff is. I'm walking around all disoriented. It's freaky....
I think you need to put the beer bottles down and sober up, Erin. Speaking of which, I've started bartending school this week. Had the opening day of class yesterday, and my goodness, this sure is fun. It's a week-long intensive course, after which I'll be qualified to tend bar not just in the State of Victoria, but across Australia and just about anywhere else, too. More later on this, as I get more involved with it...
