The good thing about Panama getting a result against Honduras is that it puts Mexico on the ropes. Not that I hate Mexico, but a good dose of humble pie might force them to improve their system. I want CONCACAF to be as strong as possible, so this works for me.

I fear Colorado. I hope I'm wrong, but I can see them beating us, even in our house.

    go quakes!!

If we lose, we don't deserve to be in the playoffs. If Colorado is so good they can come to SJ on less rest and beat us, they should go instead of us.

Problem is that you can outplay an opponent, sometimes solidly, and still lose (or tie). Quakes were so dangerously close to that happening against Chivas. This business of having to "win every game" or even "win every home game" is a very risky business. We are essentially playing with fire right now, but that's the position that we're in. (Too bad we're not actually playing the Fire, then we'd be playing with and against the fire at the same time).

I would do the right thing, which is let them go play for their national teams and hope for the best.

Muma and Marvin left yesterday. They didn't even say goodbye, and they didn't take W*lmart with them.

Well, to be fair, it's do-or-die time for the Catrachos, just like for the Earthquakes! Hopefully, since their games are against Costa Rico and Jamaica (neither of whom have any incentive to play hard -- CR having qualified and Jamaica having no chance) they'll make it!

Ugg, JK saying he won't consider MLS schedule for the Qualifying games. Our D is going to be pretty thin.
If he was considerate, he'd call in Goodson for the second game. We're on a mission dammit!

Will the DC give Lenny more than a game suspension? You know how much they like SJ and Lenny hit that guy pretty hard. He didn't look too good when he was walking off the field, like not sure what city he was in, not sure what day it was, etc.

Hopefully they'll be able to play Saturday night against Colorado.

Why not hate them (Mexico)? They hates us, precious! The Mexican team and (especially) fans have a notable lack of respect for anybody else in CONCACAF. They're still living in the past, when they were the only strong team in the region, and are having a really difficult time dealing with the fact that they are no longer frightening to other national teams. They are in dire need of a whambulance...

Yeah ... but I'm half Mexican, so it's a bit hard for me to revel in their despair too much. Mind you, I think that they need a good comeuppance. But I cannot derive the same level of schadenfreude as I do when the evil, cheating, league-favored, satan-worshipping, animal-abusing, smog-breathing water-stealers implode.

I don't really hate Colorado either. I want to beat them, but they don't begin to match the level of my hatred of say ... shittle, or the aforementioned evil water-stealers.

    Go Quakes!!

Funny thing, in the last batch of qualifiers, the number of players I like playing for Mexico exceeded the number I like on the US team. And the number of players I can't stand and would prefer to never have to watch play again who play for the US team exceed those on the Mexican team. Sorry state of the current US roster...far too many unlikeable assholes.

    Repped for awesomeness.

Don't want to go into the Game of the Year mising BOTH centerbacks.

We need Wondo too, though, otherwise we have Gordon + no one at striker. (Not really psyched for 90 minutes of Pillowfoot at this point).

Yeah, first thing I did was confirm the date of the first qualifier and the Rapids/Sounders match. One week should be enough.

What if we lose (or draw even) missing 4 of our best players?

Agree on Pillow, but then there is the forgotten man, Fucito, who is back and scored a brace in the reserve game against Chivas. I am still bullish on the little guy - even though he didn't score during the playing time he got early in the year, he looked dangerous, combined well with Wondo, and was probably unlucky not to score 1 or 2 goals. If Lenhart winds up getting an extended suspension, I'd like to see Fucito (more so than Pillow) help to fill in at forward.
