Yes, the BIGHMW IS BACK!!! Although I have been MIA for several months, I might as well get back to getting up at 5:30 am US-PDT every matchday so I can once again provide my best LIVE coverage of Der Grun-Weiße VfL and I just need some info as far as any more software I can use that would accompany the AVG anti-virus software I currently own in my PC, so I can get back to watching VfL Wolfsburg matches LIVE on the streams of Sky Deutschland without having to worry about my operations here at BIGHMW.com headquarters, in which both VfL-USA Northwest and the umbrella it rests under, Townsend FC, here in Port Townsend, WA are located.

But until then, I'll be building up my supply of Johnsonville brats and bagels from Metro Bagels in my new upright freezer in my garage (replacing my 40+ year old chest freezer in had which can't be repaired now) for use for matchday meals among other culinary delights (including for other meals outside of matchday use) which would otherwise take up too much space in the fridge in the kitchen.

Oh, and before I forget, I wanted to also congratulate the VfL Wolfsburg women's club on winning the treble this past season, including the women's Bundesliga title, it seems that it's kinda like the Team USA women somehow outdo the men here too, maybe the VfL guys should step it up, and I am sure that under head coach Dieter Hecking and general manager Klaus Allofs, they will indeed do that.

    Watch out for these guys.......

Even though this move will not prove immediately beneficial, I think it is a good one.

VfL Wolfsburg has acquired 18-year old Belgian midfield prospect Bernard "Junior" Malanda from Belgian club SV Zulte-Waregem. Malanda signed a five-year contract and will be loaned back to SV Zulte-Waregem for the first half of the season (through December 31st).

Hopefully he will be a great player soon, we've just got to wane him in as a reserve (on the bench) before thinking about putting him in the starting 11, but with enough seasoning he should be a prime, "can't miss" young player come 2-3 years, give him time, he might not provide an immediate impact, but he will. Dieter Hecking and Klaus Allofs seem to know what they are doing, at least they're not spend-a-holics like Felix Magath was when he came back, most of his money went down the tubes and we didn't get anywhere because of it.

Good news as of August 3rd, Wolfsburg have moved on to the 2nd round of the 2013-14 DfB-Pokal with goals by Ivan Perisic (14’), Diego (69’) and substitute Marcel Schäfer (90’ + 2) pick up a convincing 1:3 (0:1) victory over 2nd Bundesliga side Karlsruher SC and will prepare for the opening match of the 2013-14 Bundesliga season, and their Matchday 1 opponents will be away on Saturday to Hannover 96 at AWD Arena, where we will try to improve on our 11th place finish from last season, one that was filled with turmoil all-around until Dieter Hecking and Klaus Allofs stepped in as Head Coach and General Manager respectfully.

Opening kickoff is set for Saturday August 10th, at 3:30 pm CET, with is of course 9:30 an US ET/6:30 am US PT, and yes folks, I have planned to order both the home and away shirts for this current (2013-14) season (through the club's own Wolfeshop), just after I got a HUGE deal back on Tuesday on both of last season's shirts (deeply discounted to $59.99 USD at Subside Sports). the ones that had the sillouette "wolf" image put in, as a result of the "Mein Trikot ist Dein Trikot" promotion in the 2011-12 campaign, in which the fans would design the home and away kits for the following (last) season, the winning design was used for those shirts.

So here's to yet another season in the Top Flight and hopefully we'll be near the top and get a spot in (at least) Europa League if not the Champions league. :)

Anybody else thinking that the straight red card for Arnold was overly harsh?

Being involved in three consecutive challenges and then coming a little bit too late for the third one...he didn't even hit him that bad.

I feel for the young lad.

....."I'm currently on my backup PC after my main unit got the infamous "ICE Cyber-crime Enter Virus" two weeks ago wile trying to watch one of my favorite football clubs, VfL Wolfsburg of the German Bundesliga (Top level soccer league in Germany) in their opening match vs. their Lower Saxony Derby rivals from Hannover 96. (we lost 2-0) and I also missed VfL's 2nd match yesterday (I hope we won)."

BTW, how did we do in our match last week, and who were our opponents?

    and...........

.......can anyone recommend a program that would accompany my AVG Anti-virus software so I'll never have to worry about acquiring another bullshit thing like the above-described one again???

Nope he went straight down. Well only one match left on his ban. Still a shame for such a young player.

OK, since he's a DM, what then becomes of Diego or Ivan Perisic, in whom we picked up last year from Dortmund?, I need some help on this one as my main PC picked up the infamous "ICE Cyber-crime Enter Virus" trying to watch our opening away to Hannover and I have been unable to watch the matches on the usual streaming sites this season, and how did we do last week in out home match and whom did we face?

Given that Arsene Wenger is their manager this hardly means Wolfsburg overpaid though. He's probably the stingiest manager in European football.

More importantly Bayern has shown with Mario Gomez that they are willing to let go respected players even for a lower offer if the player has his heart set on one destination.

This is not why I said Wolfsburg overpaid. While I like Gustavo, I simply don't believe he's worth what Wolfsburg paid.

He'll determine this in the long run. I just gave my opinion. I'm confused as to why you seem to think my opinion was simply based on what Arsenal apparently refused to pay?

As far as I know, that's not what happened here. And please. Spare me this "big hearted Bayern" bullshit. All the player has to do is refuse to sign at another destination. If Gomez or Gustavo said they wanted to join BVB, Leverkusen, or S04, Bayern wouldn't have done that shit.

Bayern wanted to make sure neither player would come back to haunt them. Neither will in Wolfsburg or Florence. Not this season anyhow......

Well what Wolfsburg actually paid is the really interesting question here.

The amount of money differs greatly from one source to another. I think Luíz Gustavo is very well worth € 15m (Kicker) while over € 20m is certainly overpaying by quite a bit. Transfermarkt.de has the fee listed at € 17.5m which seems to be the somewhere in the middle between the highest and the lowest rumored transfer fee. That doesn't mean they're right though.

    So do yout think even
    €15m is overpaid for Gustavo?

Well I thought it was obvious that Bayern will only comply with the player's wishes as long as they don't strengthen a direct rival. But yeah you're right, Bayern obviously wouldn't have sold Gomez or Gustavo to one of the destinations you mentioned. Well maybe Leverkusen. I don't know where you've got your information from but Mario Gomez himself said on several occasions that he had his heart set on Fiorentina from early on, Fiorentina officials said the same thing. They've been pursuing the transfer for months.

It's your personal opinion that Bayern sold Gomez to Fiorentina for sole reason of avoiding a meeting with him and Napoli in the Uefa Champions League. I believe it could very well have been a factor why they didn't ask for more money from Fiorentina. However first and foremost all involved parties state though that Bayern München prioritized the personal preferences of Mario Gomez over their financial interests.

I understand that you have some negative bias towards Bayern München, to a certain degree it's even justifiable but please if you can't see that Bayern did Gomez the bigger favor then you can't be helped. Bayern München's FO most certainly showed Mario Gomez the respect he deserves. I wouldn't call it big-hearted myself (your words not mine) because it also suited Bayern's interests to some extent but it was certainly a fine thing to do.

    I'm betting "anti-football" won.

Haven't seen a match yet where "tradition" won anything.
