I dont know if anybody cares but Mexico called him up. It seems like hes doing good for Leon. I still wonder why he didnt fit with Red Bulls.

Because after 2010 he spent 1/3 of his time injured, 1/3 of his time suspended, and about half of his remaining time trudging through mud with his aging legs. MLS is too much of a dog fight in the midfield to have a nearly immobile guy just sit there trying to play balls over the top, even if he was excellent at that.

I was under the impression that his call up to the Mexican team was more symbolic than practical though, am I wrong on that?

Beacuse he was a lazy, slow player for us who took stupid penalties and seemed like he could care less on the field and off.

Don't know how he has done in Mexico but it seems Leon hasn't had much success while he was there. Can't comment on his play as I don't really follow the Mexican league but maybe someone who does can comment on that and how it measures up to the expectations people had when he first signed for Leron.

He's the biggest pile of dung I've ever seen. At first I wanted Mexico to make the World Cup simply because it makes CONCACAF look good.

But now I really hope they lose to New Zealand.

“Maybe I was a bit ahead of myself choosing to go to the United States,” Marquez says. “It was an error on my part because I thought my career was on the downswing, and then I realized I was mistaken because I still had much to give in the competitive arena.”

Hey Rafa, you looked like you're career was OVER when you played like absolute $hit in New York.

Rafa is evil and such a c**t, true, but how in God's name can a team sign a contract with such a stupid provision? That's the dumbest damn thing I've ever heard. No wonder so many teams in Italy are in such dire financial straits if these are the types of decisions being made.

He must have one hell of an agent. Not only was he making $4.5M with the Red Bulls but he got to walk away from his contract scot free in order to return to Atlas. Now back in Europe, he's once again shaking down a club for something extra. The only explanation is he doesn't really care what anyone thinks and he's got representation capable of getting him exactly what he wants.

What a piece of $hit. Earn your way on the playing field like everyone else. Don't hold your club hostage financially and prevent them from adding helpful pieces.

    Team player? Nah.

That's the part that's really incredible to me. You have to know that if this provision becomes public knowledge then it will create dissension in the locker room.
He really just doesn't give a f*ck, huh?

He denies all allegations. His rep says he's just all about soccer and has nothing to do with drugs.
on the other hand you have to assume the US treasury Dept doesnt accuse someone of something so heavy unless there is some type of substantiating evidence.

If you've ever wanted Rafa Marquez cologne you better get a bottle of it now before Rafa gets hauled off to jail....

Never liked Marquez anywhere he played, but especially when he played for us. A nearly complete waste of investment I thought. And a guy who I had near zero respect for. So this latest news just cements my feelings of him. He's going to need some really excellent luck now, or more likely some really excellent crime or corruption for him to escape this drug trafficking offense.
