Are you mad  . Freddy Adu will have to be one of the most Overated playres EVER. I thought he was too until I started watching him play a Few months back. I have realized one thing above everything else. He is CRAP. Every single match I saw him play he was a waste of space on the football field. Do not be fooled like I was my friend.

Adu is 15, I can say that he is just as good or better than the rest of the players mentioned here at that age. Just think by the age of 20 he will be a 5 year veteran. Adu will be great one day no worries. As for Gaven while he is very good he is not better than Donovan, Beasley, or Convey yet so you can't mention him as one of the best under 23 players in the world b/c he is not even the best U-23 American.

I'd go with Schweinsteiger. I think his willingness to play and unrelenting never say die attitude can't be matched by any other young players.

I have seen in little cameos for Germany in Euro 2004 so I won't be able to comment on him.

Ronaldo is going to be very big, not so sure about Kaka, Schweinsteiger looks promising - Seitaridis is 23, if he counts, he could be a contender as could Ashley Cole - one things for sure, the next WC should see them all figuring!

I have my doubts about Rooney and his psyche!

Given the "at the moment" part of the title then I would have to say Rooney.

Kaka was brilliant last season and can look awesome but remember he was playing in the best team in the world.

Rooney was at Everton surrounded by people like Kevin Kilbane, David Unsworth and Alan Stubbs. If you moved Rooney to United then he would have the opportunities to seem just as impressive as Kaka.

Ailsa, saying that Rooney "just scores a few goals" misses the entire point of the game. Scoring goals is the objective, fancy footwork is just a bonus.

C.Ronaldo can score goals and has alot of fancy footwork. He also scores alot of goals with his head. We all know that Rooney is green with envy for C.Ronaldo . Looked how he almost took off his feet at OT.

Ronaldo doesn't score many goals. How many did he get for United last season? He is a very good in the air, but he is not a big goal scorer.

Which one, AC Milan or Brazil? Either way, to start and be good in the best team in the world, that's pretty damn good.

Kaka, Gilardino, Obafemi Martins, Adriano, Cassano, C. Ronaldo and Fernando Torres.

Off the top of my head those are some of the best

He is not suppose to score many goals. He scored about 8 last season. He is a MIDFIELDER.

Ronaldo has everything, control, pace, strength, trickery, a good shot, good in the air - I think he will have a big season this year if he doesn't get injured - shame he's going to play in the Olympics, I think it undermines him a bit!

C Ronaldo is way overrated! He does not have a good shot either, I've seen him miss the easiest of chances. Fancy footwork but not much after that, cause it rarely ends up with anything other than him sitting on his bum whining. I have to agree with DerMonger here, how come Adriano was not mentioned?? If u think Ronaldo has a good shot then watch Adriano's... DAMN! He made it in the hardest league in the World easily.. good dribbling, powerful and resilience... a true RAW talent.

that's true... it makes me not feel bad for them when they screw up, which they always do...

    but also...

c.ronaldo IS talented, certainly. but the kid is a serial diver and seems to only play in a certain way (i.e. one trick pony)... he needs to be taken down a peg or two, for his own sake..

BUT i gotta admit what someone said earlier about ronaldo never giving up and always looking for chances is true, and its a great quality, especially in someone so young... ex: the opener against greece - although it was too late it was nice to see him still try...

but the thing with these kids being superstars is that they all become so frickin' arrogant!!!

I don't know where to start with all the crap that people are spouting in here!!.....********!.......some of you don't know the first thing!!

Anyway, Kaka has proved to be the most consistent player in the past season for a top club. Also Vicente and Reyes from Spain are great talents for the coming season.

As for all the Rooney bollox talk going on here, the kid is incredible. He has no fear, great movement, great intelligence, strength, he can tackle (sometimes over the top), he's honest, he's a breath of fresh air when you look at some of the other young players around who dive and cheat just because they have the pace to make it look convincing...........and that brings me to Ronaldo, a fantastic talent but too many areas of his game are still developing..... like a final ball, he's also a cheat and if you remember Ashley Cole had him in his pocket, as Cole said 'you give him a kick early and he just doesn't want to know'.............if you give Rooney a kick you had better watch your back...

Where did I say he was bad? He was outstanding. My point was that it is easier to look good in a great team (Milan), than it is in a poor team like Everton.

Whenever Rooney has appeared with quality players for England he has looked sensational. In my opinion they are both superb players, but I would just give the edge to Rooney.

Sir Martin Keown, you are sad. C.Ronaldo does dive but to say that Rooney is incredible is amazing. If C.Ronaldo is a a cheat and is developing then Rooney is still developing. ALL young players at that age are still developing. Kaka is the most complete U-23 player in the world and he is 22. A.Cole did not have C.Ronaldo in his pocket . It was an even match. Why? A.Cole likes to push up the field but C.Ronaldo kept coming at him and I admit he handled him pretty well but it was certainly not that A.Cole had him is pocket.C.Ronaldo vs Everton give Rooney a kick but the reason Rooney kicked is because C.Ronaldo made him look like an utter fool.

oh please don't call me sad :(

Rooney in my opinion is incredible, I have not seen a youngster in a long time with so little fear of the opposition, he's a mixture of all that I like in a striker......and he's honest..........and of course these young players are developing but at this stage Rooney has far more to his game than Ronaldo. Maybe Ronaldo had a better game than Rooney in the EPL but that doesn't matter for ********, it's not always easy to have a good game with players like Unsworth around u. I prefer to look at the game Rooney played against France, he outshone Zidane and made Thuram look like a Doctor Martens player.

SMK, Thuram was past it long ago in my opinion. Still want to know why he is still playing.C.Ronaldo also has no fear with the opposition. Look he is in a duel with A.Cole and is laughing. Sorry that I called you sad.
