Very really good match was M Gladbach vs Werder Bremen! on Goltv ,SD image sucks, PSG vs Guingamp on beIN , football not as good but stunning HD. I am still hoping Goltv will get us HD on Directv. So depressing to watch a match on DS these days when there are two more live matches on HD at the same time. It's like when some of us saw the B&W to color transition. No TV channels went back to B&W! Goltv would've gone backwards to Black and White! No wonder they're going out of business
For the hell of it I just wrote to DirecTV to see if GOLTV was in their plans to go back on the sports pack. Here is their response: Thank you for letting us know about your interest in GolTV. Our goal is to continue to expand our programming and technology offerings, in order to bring you the best television entertainment experience available. GolTV is still available in DIRECTV's Spanish-language packages. All of the Spanish league games (BBVA La Liga) previously broadcasted by GolTV are now on beIN SPORT (Ch. 426 - Spanish / Ch. 620 - English), which has been added to SPORT PACK. beIN SPORT also brings you the Italian league (Serie A), the French league (Ligue 1), and the South American Qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup so you can continue to enjoy the best soccer from around the world. Again, thank you for writing, Sincerely, Marco V. - 100614061 DIRECTV Customer Service
That's lame. Did you write back to say that you were mainly interested in the German league, and wish that GOL TV come back in HD?
Through the DTV App on my iphone. I went to help then customer service then the next page that popped up I filled it out.
I just sent an email too, focusing more on the fact that it isn't available in HD than the fact that it is no longer in the sports pack. Can't hurt.
I received the following as a response to my email: "Thank you for writing. I understand your request to have GolTV become available again in HD, and I know how important this is for you. As part of our plan to be the undisputed leader of entertainment service, DIRECTV is committed to bringing you the very best TV experience. As such, I have forwarded your request to DIRECTV Management. While we can not follow up with each customer individually, rest assured your voice is being heard and many of the changes we make are a direct result of the requests and suggestions we receive from our customers. In addition, whenever we add channels to our lineup, we release a statement to the press, so keep an eye on the news to find out about the newest channels or visit our web site at www.directv.com/pr. Again, thank you for writing [daniloni]. It is feedback like yours that helps us remain America's #1 Satellite provider." My email was as follows (there was a 1000 character limit on the form): "Thank you so much for the recent additions of BeIN Español HD and ESPN Deportes HD. I was hoping that you could also bring back GolTV in HD. I know that you dropped GolTV HD (and from the sports pack) when it lost Spanish League rights to BeIN. However, GolTV still shows tons of live soccer every week including German Bundesliga, Dutch Eredivisie, Brazilian Serie A, Argentine Primera Division, Mexican Liga de Ascenso, and Uruguayan Primera Division. They also show World Cup qualifiers and friendlies from Europe, like this Friday's upcoming Ireland v. Sweden game. I pay $15 dollars per month for the En Español add-on to get this channel (strange that it is only on the Spanish packages as the channel is in English). The least you could do is to make this great programming available in HD again. I note that a number of your competitors (such as Time Warner and AT&T U-Verse) offer this channel in HD. Thank you for your consideration."
Well said. I will do the same. Really wish they'd make a 'soccer package' since they make such a big deal about it through advertising...instead of the sports pack. I pay soooo much for the sports pack and en espanol pack for basically the soccer channels only.
I agree I hardly watch any of the Regional sports channel I pay for. Plus half the time they are blacked out.
OK...I am at work. What's the link so I can directly contact DTV to write to them? I can't find it on their site.
Thanks! Just contacted them, and brought up the idea of a soccer specific channel package and to bring Fox Deportes and GOL TV HD to DTV.
So I called DirecTV just now to pay $15 extra for the Spanish package to get GolTV. Guess what: can't get it since I have the English Classic package and would have to change that to the Spanish total package (which costs extra and would result in a loss of English channels.....). So send an email (via the link Interfan76 posted) and complained as well about GolTV not being a-la-carte (like Fox Plus used to be...). Let's all bombard them with emails today; maybe something will eventually happen....
Ruud, you may have gotten a CSR that didn't know what he/she is talking about. Unfortunately (not just with DirecTV), you have to go into these conversations with full knowledge, with you as the one educating the CSR. It's an add-on package called "En Espan~ol" which is $15 per month, and is added on top of your English base package. That way, you don't have to get a Spanish base package which may not include certain English channels. I have an English package with the en espan~ol add-on and it gives me ESPN Deportes (now in HD), BeIN Espan~ol (now in HD), GolTV, Fox Deportes, TyC. There are also channels from Central America, Colombia and Chile, among others, which show domestic leauge matches, all in nearly unwatchable SD.
No. You just need a DLP, aka the little bubble attachement's to your dish...so someone would have to come out and install that.
Turns out I can go online and add the "en Español" package to what I have now for $14.99/m. But GolTV is not mentioned in the description! Here it is (from the DirecTV website): Get over 40 Spanish-language channels featuring the best movies and shows, up-to-the-minute news, and sports from all of Latin America, including Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Central America, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Argentina, Chile, and more. EN ESPAÑOL™ includes all of the channels included in MEXICO PLUS™, AMERICAS PLUS™, and MÁS MOVIES™. Please note: you can add only one of the following Spanish-language packages: EN ESPAÑOL™, MEXICO PLUS™, AMERICAS PLUS™, or MÁS MOVIES™. Thanks Daniloni for helping out!!
Yes, I had the same questions because, as you say, it's not mentioned on the web site. But people on this forum assured me that it's there. And it is! Now you can join the GolTV assurance team . Make sure to email them reminding them that you're paying $15 per month for this channel (which is in English) so it would be nice to have it in HD. I'm evangelizing! Hey, maybe by the time we get to 20 people, someone will notice that they have good programming on this channel. At least make it part-time HD for the games. Enjoy!
